Beauty Chat with Grace of Stripes and Sequins
August Beauty Favorites
I can’t even remember how I came across Grace’s blog in the first place. Doesn’t that always seem to happen? Maybe it was a pinterest pin, or some other rabbit trail, but either way I’m glad I found her!
Grace lives in NYC, works at Bauble Bar, and writes her lifestyle/fashion/DIY blog. I love how classic and simple her outfits are. It never seems like she’s trying too hard to follow a trend.
I was so pleased when she jumped on board for the beauty chat series! Read through the interview below!
1. What is the most loved item in your makeup bag?
My NARS Red Square Lip Pencil. It’s my favorite lip color in the world. I have one in my purse, one at my desk, and one at home. I can’t be without it!
2. If you found a $50 gift card to Sephora on the street, what would you buy?
Truthfully, I’d probably give it to my sister. I am lucky in that I get spoiled with so many beauty products for review on Stripes & Sequins. . . and I know she’d be so excited to use it. If I didn’t give it to her, I’d probably buy more Red Square or aΒ pretty pink nail polish
3. What is your go-to hairstyle?
Down + wavy, though I’ve been playing around with the crown braid!
4. What is your biggest hair regret?
Bangs in high school. It was a frizz-aster.
5. What beauty trend would you like to see die?
Nail art. I’m over it.
6. What is one makeup trick you’d like to master?
Liquid liner! I’m such a dunce with makeup, as silly as it sounds. I also really want to learn how to apply false lashes. I usually get lash extensions, but I’d love to be able to do it myself!
7. Do you prefer drugstore or high end makeup products?
I use mostly high end simply because it’s hard to find drugstore products that are paraben and sulfate free.
8. What do you never leave the house without?
Red lipstick, chapstick, a hair tie, and perfume. My favorite perfume is Le Labo Santal 33.
9. What is your favorite skin care product?
Hands down. . .Tata Harper’s resurfacing mask!
10. Is there a hair technique you’d like to master?
Dutch braiding. I know how to do it, but I’m not great at it.
Grace, may I suggest this tutorial? π
Thanks for the interview. Between you and Cara from MaskCara, my “must-try” list of face masks is growing rapidly!

I’m not big into many beauty products, but I can attest to the Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask being juuuuuuuuust about the best thing ever created. I mean, it cleared up my pregnancy acne! Miracles.
That red lip sounds divine! I’m going to check that out. I’m checking out her blog, too. π
xo Always, Abby
Can you stop linking to lines like “try this mask” without identifying what the product is? It’s a totally low way to trick people into clicking links you get paid for.
Yes, please quit with that already!!!
I’d be more likely to click if it actually said the product name. I don’t mind that you get paid but, how you’re doing it now comes off too spamy. So no matter how much I’d like to know what product you are referring to, I do not click.
I’ve stopped clicking as well. Seems like a lot of blogs are full of this kind if stuff as of late, and it’s quite disappointing…
The only mask mentioned in this post is the Tata Harper Mask which is named.
I was going to comment last night about what mask were they referring to?! You are correct Kate, everything you linked you say what the product is! Keep doing what you’re doing Kate!! π
So nice to read about other blog sites, guests are always so interesting!
Kate, I love reading your blog. I just wanted to say I hope you are ignoring the haters that have been picking this great blog apart in their mean spirited comments for the last few posts. I apreciate that it take a lot of time to maintain your blog and put up all your helpful videos. I think if you do get paid for clicks on your links you are well entitled to that. Please keep posting away and remember that if people can’t say constructive things in a helpful way their opinions are probably best ignored anyway. Warm wishes from Australia π
Yes! What she said! ^^
I love this blog series! Such a great way to meet new bloggers π
Que chulo, me gusta mucho tu blog me quedo por aqui, besos
This comment is for Grace concerning question #7.”quote” Do you prefer drugstore or high end makeup products?
your answer :”quote”I use mostly high end simply because itβs hard to find drugstore products that are paraben and sulfate free.
I suggest you revisit this because drugstores are full of paraben/sulfate free options now. And I hate to burst your bubble, but that beloved NARS Red Square lip pencil ..it contains parabens.
TH’s resurfacing mask is one of my faves too!
Love this beauty chat series! P.S. Red lips look great on Grace. Wish I could pull off a bold red lip all the time! I sport it only on special occasions. π
