August Beauty Favorites
David’s Favorites at 9 months
I know, I know! I’m way late on my August Favorites video.
This month I found a few new products that I really loved!
If you follow along on instagram, you’ll know I’ve been on the hunt for a new conditioner for awhile. I’m planning on writing a more detailed post about the search soon, but in the meantime Sebastian Drench has been the winner for awesome conditioner.
Other products I mentioned are:
L’Oreal Glossy Balm in Innocent Coral
Habit nail polish in Sunset Blvd.
Stila Smudge Stick eyeliner in Sepia
(I also have and love metallic umber)

I thought you said the $3 Aussie conditioner was your favorite?
That is a deep conditioner, not a daily conditioner. I like drench as a daily conditioner
I purchased the Aussie 3 Minute Miracale. If it is a deep conditoner how often do I use it. I have rather soft hair but curly and wavy. Thanks Kate. I loved this viedo.
sparingly, maybe once a week? It can get waxy if you over use it. Everyone’s hair type is different so really only you can know if you are over doing it!
I was literally just about to ask the same question about the Aussie conditioner. Would love to see a full review on that product if you get around to it!

I was wondering about deep conditioners too… I have soft hair for 24 hours, but the ends start to feel dry and strawy after 24 hours–especially after a workout.
I don’t like to wash my hair everyday because I don’t style it, I Just let it air dry, and I get sooo oily after 12 hours if I wash my hair every 24 hours.
Anyway, I want to know if deep conditioners would help make my hair’s softness last a little longer.
Kate: Thank you for your your August Fav video. I enjoyed it so much. I find your blog very inspirational for mine and when it come to trying new products and realistic makeup choices – I trust your opinions, so thanks. Please keep them coming. You beauty and hair blog is wonderful. Been a fan for while now.
Noir is pronounced nwar. The end rhymes with car.
Thansk for sharing about the concealers. I’ve been looking for something to cover my dark circles.
Alright- I was pretty close then! 🙂
Lol, I am the QUEEN on mispronouncing things! I would have said it the same as you!

You were so close! It is just a French word for black.
Were you wearing the Sepia eyeliner in this video? And what colors are you wearing for shadow too please??
I was wondering the same thing, the eyeliner in the video looks black, even though she says she doesn’t like black on the bottom lid. The champagne color described sounds like something I would like, but I will have to check it out in person.
Just love your makeup posts! Wondering which foundation you are wearing in this video? Looks wonderful! I love my Stila large crayon in smoke, but they no longer sell that. Will have to try the Sepia! Thanks!!
I remember seeing on Instagram that you were trying out some products from FAB. Are there any you would recommend? I’ve been thinking about trying them out.
Great video. Definitely want to check out that concealer next time I am in Sephora. Thanks!

Great video, Kate!!! Thanks so much for posting! I love your favorites videos.
What is the fresh Lotus Eye Gel for? You go on and on about the smell, the packaging, the other fresh scents, etc. but not what the actual product is used for. Eye puffiness? Wrinkle reducer? Primer? Do you use it before bed, in the morning, before or after applying makeup? How long have you used it and what kind of changes have you noticed?
It’s an eye gel for the eyes. Supposed to reduce puffiness and dark circles as per Fresh’s description of the product. Great for daytime use because it absorbs quickly.
That was kind of a snarky comment, I too was wondering how it worked. I assumed by “eye gel” that it was an eye treatment, but I was also wondering whether or not to use it in the daytime, or if it had a roller ball for application, whether it reduces wrinkles, etc. For me, when describing an eye gel, it would be helpful if you described what it does and how to use it rather than rambling on about the smell. If you want people to buy products that you recommend (and I assume you do for the kickbacks), an accurate description is imperative. For instance, you mentioned that you were working with Habit nail polish but couldn’t even remember if it is natural, or what chemicals it is free from. While I understand that each consumer should do his/her research, many of us come to blogs to cut the middle man out when seeking recommendations. I would expect that someone working with Habit would at least take the time to do a little research. It’s kind of embarrassing that you did not.
Thank you so much for clarifying that an eye gel would be a gel for eyes! There are many different eye-related products, and the label “eye gel” is vague. I struggle with dark circles, so is this something that would correct them? Does it actually reduce puffiness? How quickly does it work? I could certainly read fresh’s description of the product, but then what’s the point of you writing this blog? So I will click on your affiliate link$.
I honestly like to read reviews on products that are pricier before purchasing them, as I’m sure the general population does too. The smell is quite honestly, not the #1 determining factor if the product works well and is worth the investment. So how this is an accurate review of your “favorite product” if the only thing I can take away from your video is that it smells like cucumbers? I can smear cut up cucumbers on my face for much less than the cost of that product and have the same result as what I learned in your review.
This level of unwarranted rudeness is so unbecoming. Kate posts these favorites videos to talk briefly about her faves for the month – they are not in depth reviews. If you don’t like it, move along. I’m sure she won’t lose sleep over losing a nasty follower who posts comments like the above two.
I sooo agree with Nikki!
Thanks for posting this… I love reading and watching your favorites… its ok if there late lol

Obsessed with drench! I love to pair it with Sebatian Light shampoo to avoid any extra weight at my roots. Plus, it smells divine!
I use this Sebastian combo too and works great for me!
Hey! Love your blog and videos!!! Just a quick hair question. I have somewhat thick, curly, auburn hair and it always seems dry and well, DRY! i wondered if you had any beauty recommendations/ products for my hair problem. I also use Herbal Essences shampoo+conditioner everyother day, not to mention my shower water is sulfer water. Ugh.
Thanks! 😉
on hair….have you heard of co-washing (washing hair with conditioner…no shampoo)? or anything about any of the ‘cleansing conditioners’ on the market?
Interested in hearing more about the Laura Mercier concealer. I have just ran out of my last pen of Estee Lauder Ideal Light highlighter/concealer. IMO it was the HG of concealers but discontinued and the replacement is way too thick. It was very “watery” and I loved that because it didn’t feel like cake icing. It was close to full coverage and still looked natural. Does that sound comparable to this Laura Mercier or not? Thanks in advance 🙂
Love your blog so much! Quick question- what do you think about using products on highlighted hair? Is it necessary to only get products that specifically say it’s “safe” to use? Thanks so much!!
Hey – not sure if it’s just me, but your recent posts have not been coming through my feedly… I came to check out a tutorial and was surprised to see a whole bunch of posts I hadn’t seen!
I received the Noir in my Birchbox and have loved it everyday! Doesn’t tug or pull and stays put.
The Sept. Birchbox, I got the Macadamia Professional™ Flawless Cleansing Conditioner..you use it in place of Shampoo and Conditioner. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m wondering how clean it gets your hair. I tend to get oily after 2 days.
That is so funny! I have, and am obsessed with, that Sepia eyeliner from Stila. I thought it was such a random color but I smudge it all over with reckless abandon and it is so pretty! Good picks!
Love your blog! I have medium to fine midlength straight blond hair that can get dry. I’ve tried MANY conditioners from very high (Kerastase) (It’s a 10 Silk) to low and here’s a couple that are great for moisturizing. My favorite was low end 🙂 Suave Humectant conditioner was recommended on a another blog and I absolutely love it. I also wash with Wen Lavendar. Good luck on your hunt!
I sooo agree with Nikki!
I recently found those Stila eyeliners by accident, and I am in love with them! I received one in their eyeshadow palette, and oh boy do they wear well! I am the queen of raccoon circles under my eyes, and these are the first that do not move! I am in the process of replacing my go to colors of eyeliner (:
Love your favorites as always!
Great Video!
