The Fishtail Twist Updo Tutorial

As my style has become significantly more casual, I find myself wearing more and more simple jewelry too. I think accessorizing with a bit of jewelry, even if it’s rather subtle, is a nice way to look “put together” without going over-kill on  the bling.

It’s hard for me to remember a time before wearing gold or rose gold jewelry too. Do you feel the same? I wore silver my entire life, but as soon as gold came back into the picture a few years back, I converted instantly and never looked back.

My jewelry lives in the secretary in my bedroom, but I also have a small, glass jewelry box on my nightstand to take off my “dailies” every night.

I’ve also become a watch wearer in an effort to not rely so much on my phone for the time. I wasn’t sure about the leather strap, but I knew that a metal watch would be too cumbersome with carrying David around or changing him. Since the day I got this watch, I haven’t missed a day of wearing it. It was sold out at Fossil.com but I found it here!

Other than these, I wear my wedding bands daily and always have a swipe of at least a sheer tinted lip color. It goes a long way in making me feel ready to take on the day.

I’m curious, though, if try to keep your style really simple and minimal–what are your daily “must wear” items? I think if I didn’t have David to carry/play with, I’d probably add a light scarf into my daily mix as well. Maybe even a delicate necklace.

You can find me with my wedding rings and earrings everyday. I don’t wear anything else. A necklace on a rare occasion, but never any bracelets.

I’m a minimal daily jewelry wearer. My wedding ring and studs. I know so boring…

I love simple on a day to day basis. You can find me with my wedding band and and my 20th wedding anniversary band , a simple watch ( mine is fossil too in rose gold) and a simple delicate necklace and some pretty stud earrings. To me there is something feminine about delicate and simple. You really dont need alot of jewelry to be put together!

I don’t go out of the house without my rings on my fingers(gifts from hubby over the last 35 yrs!) And studs in my ears. I have gone to a sheer lip gloss as well. (Rimmel) I love that you relate to women’s beauty so well.

My dailies are normally peanut butter on my left shoulder and enough yogurt to properly accent my shirt. :). I am pretty simple but always studs and my wedding rings. I love that watch though and I have been thinking a watch would be nice for the reason you listed as to not rely on your phone as much.

I’m no longer in the baby stages and I work outside of home. So, my dailies include my wedding set, a citizen watch (all metal) and simple earrings. Standard extras include a bracelet and necklace. When I want to bling it – I wear a statement necklace and I have many longer length strands that layer well together. My husband likes to buy me chamilia bracelets, so I often add one of those for sparkle.

I have a 2 year old and I’m only just now starting to work accessories back in now and then. When she was young I relied on stud earrings (which was nothing new for me anyway), my wedding/engagement ring, a Cartier Trinity ring and that’s it. I used to wear necklaces every day, now I’m out of the habit.

I have my staples, engagement ring, my all time favorite knot ring from Tiffany’s, and a watch. I don’t always wear earrings but if I do I gravitate toward simple hoops. I used to be a big fan of fun costume jewelry but the last couple years I’ve gotten away from it.

I love all of these pieces! I also keep things pretty simple these days! I have a stamped necklace of the initials of my daughter, son, and husband that I wear each and every day. It’s really small and simple, so it goes with everything!!

Are your wedding rings yellow gold? Mine are platinum and I’ve wondered if it’s tacky to wear yellow gold along side them ☺️

Mine are palladium, but I don’t mind the look of mixed metals!

Reply
Justine Brickner says · 01.20.15

I have a palladium wedding ring as well. Did you ever notice a reaction from wearing it after you had David? Mine got better, but I don’t know if it was a fluke or what!
Love mixed metals as well!

This is how I wear my jewelry! I like to keep it simple and tasteful. It’s also because I have no idea how to wear statement pieces ;p

Is your wedding set gold, rose gold or white gold? Just curious. 🙂 I am looking into upgradng my wedding ring and have been considering switching from my white gold set to rose gold, but I’m still on the fence.

Kate says · 01.20.15

It’s an odd metal called palladium. I don’t mind mixing the metals 🙂

I’ve actually become addicted to Chincharmaloney since you first mentioned them! Every day I wear my engagement + wedding bands, and a ‘daily stack’ from chincharmaloney. I bought their birthstone ring plus a black diamond band and a champagne diamond band, all in yellow gold. I always wear my Citizen Eco Drive watch and diamond studs my husband got me. I have an 8 month old baby, so no more bangles and necklaces for me.

I’m a minimal girl. I always wear my diamond engagement and wedding rings. A diamond eternity ring and matching diamond stud earnings. Finally a rose gold Micheal Kors watch. I also sometimes wear a rose gold Micheal Kors bracelet if I am going somewhere special.

I know exactly what you mean about switching to gold and rose gold! I used to be a silver only person, but then got a few gold jewelry items as gift and have almost completely converted! My dailies now include a silver ring I’ve had for year, but a few rose-gold stackable rings, and a gold with pearls bow necklace. I feel naked without them, but they’re so minimal that I almost forget I have them on everyday.

It’s funny, I don’t have many basics, always being drawn to the more dramatic. But what that means when I just want to be casual, is that there’s nothing but my wedding band to wear. This just made me think to grab some of those simple items as well. And I’ve been looking at watches a lot lately too so I need to get on that!

I always wear small diamond stud earrings. I find that even if I have no make up on and my hair pulled up, I still look a little “put together”. Recently, I started trying to put make up on each day, even if I knew I wouldn’t be leaving the house. I find that I feel much better and I’m not embarrassed when someone knocks on my door! 🙂

I rarely take off my staples – diamond studs, gold and diamond small hoops (I have 2 holes in each ear), a gold cross necklace, and the ring my husband got me for Christmas with both my girls birthstones. If I leave the house I also throw on my wedding rings.

My daily jewelry is simple, too. I wear my wedding bands (palladium, too!) all the time unless cooking or cleaning. I rotate though different studs mostly in gold, champagne or pale pink tones. I’ve been layering some dainty chain necklaces in mixed metals with different sized small pendants to dress things up. Oh and my watch – i hate pulling out my phne to check the time; I feel like I’m not as rude checking my watch. Lol.
My dumplin’ is 2 and he like to look at my jewelry. It’s fun to watch his expressions while he fingers the different pieces. (He still tries yanking on my earrings though!)

I pretty much stick to silver jewelry but since gold came back into style I’ve acquired a few pieces and enjoy wearing them. My daily jewelry right now is my wedding rings, a set of silver stackable rings on my right hand, a bar necklace with my first initial on it, and whatever earrings I feel like wearing that day.

Love your dailies! I usually wear a sheer SPF lip balm, a silver ring on my right hand, and pearl earrings. I’ve gotten into stacking rings recently, and I love those too. It’s funny that you said you were a silver wearer for awhile before switching to gold. I’m in the exact same boat too! Gold jewelry is my new obsession that I think will linger for awhile.

I’m a huge fan of statement necklaces on more dressed up days, but other than that my jewelry is usually really simple! I have my ears double-pierced and keep a pair of rose gold/CZ studs in the second holes all the time, and then I usually do some other kind of stud (usually gold-based) in the main hole. Necklace-wise I generally wear a delicate sideways cross necklace or one that has a thin gold initial bar that I received as a bridesmaid gift (both came from Etsy). Ironically my rings are both silver: a James Avery cross ring and a wedding band that’s a family heirloom, both worn on my right hand. I’d love to get some pretty gold rings as well. Oh, and I love wearing a watch! Mine is a tortoise & gold one from Anne Klein. Love your simple & casual style, Kate!

My dailies are mascara and eye liner, my wedding ring, and earrings. I wear bracelets when I go out, but never at home, and I rarely wear necklaces of any kind. I’m definitely a wearer of “simple” adornments.

Kind of like my bling, but recently I have been wearing studs or plain hoops. I see the tiny rings are somewhat expensive, can you recommend a site that sells “just a little less costly”? I am retired and on disability and the top of the line option is no more for me. Thanks Kate, love your blog even if I am 57.

Everyday I wear my wedding ring on my left hand. On my right hand I wear my mom’s wedding ring that she gave me before she died 13 years ago. I have an Origami Owl locket bracelet and inside I have stones that denote milestones in my weight loss journey…pink stone for each 25lbs and clear stone for each 50lbs. I have a green stone I will put in it when I reach my goal (I have lost 163lbs so far with 17lbs to go!). It also has a charm in it that says “changed”. I do have 2 pair of earrings from your sister. LOVE!! I typically wear one or the other everyday!!

After 12 years in the Army and not being able to accessorize or wear fun makeup, I have been enjoying the fun in simple accessories! First, I am 35 and I can finally wear nail polish whenever I want to! My favorite colors have been mint greens and dark purples. I also wear a lip gloss everyday to make me feel like a girl. I have been loving L’Oreal Infallible gloss in Barely Nude. It’s shiny and pink without being inappropriate for library playdates. I used to love scarves but since having a baby, I stopped wearing them except to keep warm when it is below zero. I do have a necklace my husband gave me with tiny charms that have the letters of mine and my son’s first name on them. I wear that all the time.
