Homeschool Update: How it’s Going

The skincare world can feel daunting with thousands of products to choose from, but it’s so satisfying once you find a good mix of products that work for you! These are the ingredients that pique my interest when I’m exploring skincare products!

Vitamin C – excellent for brightness, clarity, and restoring firmness.

Vitamin E – good for restoring skin, calming, moisturizing.

Retinol OR a plant-based retinol alternative – accelerates skin renewal, enhances collagen, smooths texture, brightens dark spots, top anti-aging ingredient.

Hyaluronic Acid – intensely moisturizing by drawing in moisture from the air and storing in your skin, great for plumping too.

Lactic Acid – brightens, smooths, and helps diminish the appearance of fine lines.

Peptides – assist in building collagen and elastin for your body

A few personal tried + true skincare products:

Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve with Super 7 Complex

Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Dream Face Cream

Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base

Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Eye Base

Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Moisture Cream

No7 Radiance+ Vitamin C Serum

Fresh Black Tea Age-Delay Concentrate

Biossance Squalane + Phyto-Retinol Serum

Laneige Radian-C Cream

I’m currently testing Retinol Reform by Shani Darden after watching the raving review on AnnaMaeGrove’s Instagram stories. I also took part in an interview with Shani and was really impressed by her no-nonsense approach to skincare/business. She wanted a product that worked without all the negative effects that retinol can have on the skin, so she made it.

As far as knowing where to start when it comes to choosing skincare, I’d recommend taking the quiz on Sephora’s website. This is a good jumping-off point and provides you with options based on the answers you provide from the quiz.

Another good place would be to get a facial and discuss with your esthetician based on what he/she thinks from working on your skin. Sometimes it’s hard to know the difference between dry or dehydrated skin so an expert could lead you in the right direction!
