Makeup Capsule: Travel Friendly

A Glowing Mother’s Day Gift

I’ve enjoyed working on these makeup capsules, and today is all about travel friendly options. I’ve done a “quick and easy” capsule and a “budget friendly” capsule too.

My intention with choosing these great products was to find items that aren’t likely to spill out in a travel bag. The foundation is a throwback to a very old favorite from a few years ago–the coverage is fantastic!

One. Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation. This is a fantastic powder foundation. It’s loose powder, and we all know how I feel about loose powder, but it provides absolutely wonderful coverage without feeling like a thick layer of foundation. It’s a step up, coverage-wise, than the coverage you can get from Bare Minerals loose powder foundation.

Two. NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer Mini. This is a much loved concealer by many. I have it and like it! I like that it can work for blemishes or under-eyes, making it kind of a two-in-one concealer!

Three. Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner. These eyeliners are so easy to use and come in so many colors. I’ve had anywhere from deep blue to pure black and love all of them. They twist up, so no sharpener required!

Four. Urban Decay Cosmetics Vice Lipstick. I like to keep lip colors simple when I travel and this has been my go-to pink for a few years. It’s sheer, buildable, and looks great all year long.

Five. NARS Blush/Bronzer Duo Mini. I recently bought the blush + highlighter version of this product. It’s in a tiny package, has a lot of pigment, and is perfect for your travel bag.

Six. Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Curling & Lifting Mascara Mini. I love this mascara. It’s lengthening, curling, and adds lots of definition.

Seven. NARS Fever Dream Lost in Luster Face Palette. I bought this face palette recently and wanted to throw it in as a travel palette option! The eyeshadows are beautiful and the blush and highlight are all you need all summer long.

Eight. Anastasia Beverly Hills Perfect Brow Pencil. You can’t go wrong with Anastasia products for eyebrows and this is such a great brow pencil. If you want to skip the pencil sharpener, try this brow pencil instead!

Nine. Tarte Double Duty Beauty Happy Girls Shine Brighter Eye & Cheek Palette. This is another palette option if you skip the NARS product. It has some darker colors that could work beautifully as eyeliner when applied with a wet brush.

p.s. Did you catch my quick and easy makeup capsule?

I forgot how much I loved the Tarte powder foundation! I bought it a few years ago on your recommendation. Might need to repurchase for a travel option!
My biggest issue when traveling is usually if the compacts are more impact resistant. Does the Nars one hold up? I break so many compacts in my gym bag!

This is good for a beginner at makeup like me! I don’t want to get too many things at once. Thanks for the recommendations, Kate. 🙂

Love these! Is the tarts foundation good for humidity? Heading to FL for vacation next month and while I don’t want to be “made up” I would like something to give me a clear looking complexion so I’m not embarrassed taking pictures! I’m never in our vacation pics because if I wear makeup it ends up looking a mess because it’s so hot and if I don’t I have tons of dark spots and scars (every blemish leaves a scar even if I never touch it, because I get keloid scarring).

I have a similar question. I use cream foundation, but would powder let the skin breathe better in the heat and humidity of the summer?

It would feel lighter on the skin than liquid foundation for sure!

Same question! Going on my first cruise in November and want to look good and feel confident without feeling overly made up with my normal day to day full face of makeup. Very interested in a good easier foundation option. Definitely going to purchase that Nars pallet! Thanks for sharing.

I use this foundation when I travel and recently to Florida and it was fine with the humidity!

The reason I stopped using powder foundation was I felt like it settled in all my fine lines (I don’t have a ton of wrinkles, but smile lines and such). I wasn’t using primers at the time and maybe that was the problem. I’m going to go get color matched (hopefully after getting a little color at the pool!!)

Why don’t you like loose powders?

Hi
Thanks for the good advice, it is always nice to read about makeup and beauty. I think your products you are referring to are super beautiful and have even used a few. A huge plus is that they are incredibly easy to carry!

The ultimate travel makeup is Trinny London’s. The pots are magnetic and snap together in a stack. All cream based so you don’t need brushes to apply.
