A day to evening look makeup tutorial + ALL the details for the Sephora Spring Bonus Event!

A new van, a pizza competition, and finally getting ready for baby!

This post is sponsored by Sephora.

It is one of my FAVORITE times of year right now because the Sephora Spring Bonus event is happening! If you’re not a Sephora Beauty Insider member, I highly recommend signing up to be one. It doesn’t cost anything and gets you tons of perks including access to the event on April 20th! Plus, if you’re a Rouge member, you get access from April 13th to April 20th!

This is a great time of year to stock up on your favorites and to try new items. I’ve been known to shop during the event more than once because the promotions are too good to pass up!

I filmed a tutorial showing how to go from a daytime makeup look to something a bit more glam and dramatic for evening WITHOUT washing your face and starting over. I used all products from Sephora, which includes a great mix of products that I’ve used for years, as well as some new ones that I love.

You can watch the tutorial here, or scroll down a bit in the post to read a few of my tips for executing this flawlessly.

Whether you’re adding to your makeup later or not, prepping the skin is key, and Bobbi Brown’s Vitamin Enriched Face Base has been a game changer for me this year. Definitely throw that in your cart while you are shopping at Sephora!

For the daytime look, stick with matte shades. They are typically easy to blend and appropriate for anything from an office job to running errands.

Skip contour and highlight but choose a punchy blush to brighten your face for the day. I love Nars Liquid Blush paired with the Dior Lip Glow in Raspberry because they feel bright and fresh for the daytime.

When adding a bit more drama to your makeup look, shimmery chocolate eyeshadows are fool-proof. I used the Too Faced Natural Eyes palette for both day and evening looks, but saved the shimmery shades for the evening eye.

Skip loading up on another coat of mascara, and simply add a thin line of liquid liner to the upper lash line for a stronger impact. I love the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Mad Max Brown.

Warm up the face with a bronzer/contour and highlight. And choose a stronger matte lipstick! Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil is my go-to if I need a lip color to stay put for hours and hours.

Products I used for the “everyday” face:

Ole Henricksen Truth Serum

Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve with Super 7 Complex

Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion (original)

Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette

Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Ro(Cocoa)

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara (black)

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara (black)

Anastasia Brow Powder Duo in Taupe

Anastasia Brow Wiz in Taupe

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Foundation (150)

Nars Liquid Blush in Orgasm

Products I added for the evening look:

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Mad Max Brown

Dior Lip Glow in Raspberry

Caudalie Beauty Elixir

Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder

Urban Decay All Nighter Concealer (fair/warm)

So helpful, thanks!! Please do more transitions like this! And fyi, your product listing is incorrect. You listed your daytime lip (Dior) under evening look. The Nars lip looks amazing for evening!

What exactly is the event? Are only certain items discounted? Or is it a percentage off the whole store?

I’ve heard such great things about that Bobbi Brown Face Base! I agree – a great matte lip colour and a liquid liner are perfect for a night look to add some drama. Going shopping now…

Hi Kate!
Thanks for this tutorial. Question- why do you use the Fresh moisturizer and the Bobbi Brown moisturizer? Don’t they serve the same purpose?
Thanks!
