August Favorites

Home Office Decor and Furnishings

Despite technical failures, I’ve managed to upload my “August” favorites video. It’s kind of a mix of August and September because September is practically over already but still, you get the point.

It’s heavy on the skincare realm because I was battling with some skin problems later in the summer.

Products mentioned:

Bumble and Bumble Daytime Repair Fluid

Pureology Clean Volume Instant Levitation Mist

Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Oil and Makeup Remover for Eyes, Lips and Lashes

Ole Henricksen Pore-Balance Facial Sauna Scrub

Soap and Glory sugar Crush Body Wash

Ole Henricksen Truth Serum

Origins A Perfect Works Antioxidant Cleanser

*the lipstick I’m wearing is what arrived in my fall FabFitFun box

I wish more of the products you mentioned were more readily available in Hong Kong! Would love to try out some of the brands.

Thanks so much for your blog! I’ve had it bookmarked for years and check it out daily. These products look great (per usual.
Do you mind me asking, what lipstick are you wearing? I love it!

I’ve found that if I use the Clinique Take the Day Off products on dry skin, it does a much better job of removing my makeup! I usually apply it to my dry skin, rub it around for a bit, add a litttle bit of water, rub it around some more and then use a washcloth to remove everything. Starting out with dry skin has been key for me!

You look fabulous in this video Kate! Your makeup, hair, outfit, nails…just lovely. Not that that is of utmost importance because you are a sweet kind gal which matters most, but I just couldn’t not tell you how amazing you look!

I agree with Beth….It’s ol_lee. A boys name in a Scandinavian area.

It’s pronounced Oh-leh…similar to the spanish “Olé” with more emphasis on the first syllable though.
And I agree with eyeryone- you look great with a stronger than usual look!

Hi Kate,
Once again, another great job! I know you have posted many tutorials in the past on how you achieve your look. In this video, you look so beautiful and put together with a fabulous casual vibe. I, and no doubt many others, would really enjoy a GRWM video tutorial on this look.

I’m not familiar with OLEHENRIKSEN’s products, so thanks for sharing. I’m really interesting in trying the serum but wanted to ask: do you use it in the morning, or at night? Also, how many cleansers do you switch between (exfoliator, etc), and how long do you try a product before you decide to toss it or keep? Thanks!

You should try the Origins Clean Energy Gentle Cleansing Oil to wash and remove makeup! Best oil cleanser that I’ve found! I love being able to do both in one step and it keeps my face from getting too dry. I rub the oil into my face and then add water to it and it turns to a “milk,” then I wash off with a damp cloth.

Love the truth serum – Sephora has it now as a promo with a $25 purchase online using the word “ORANGE” – I’ve gotten at least 2-3 half ounce bottles free that way 🙂

Hi!
Loved the video. Love all those skin care shout outs. I will be trying a few of them for sure.

When I worked for Sephora we were taught to pronounce the name Ole as ‘ooh- lah’. Not sure if that’s totally correct. But that’s how we did back in the day.

Keep up the good work. By the way your messy bun tutorial is LIFE!

I know you don’t scrunch your hair, but for those of us gals with naturally wavy hair, could you recommend a good scrunching product based on the brands you use and love? I’m a low maintenance girl, and while your tutorials are amazing and I do use my curling wand sometimes, most days I just shower and scrunch, and let my hair dry naturally! Thanks.
