A Coffee Nook

Fall Finds

SAMSUNG CSC

We had this dead space in the dining room that I went back and forth on when deciding how to decorate it. In our formal dining room, all we had was a buffet that I deemed the coffee bar, and we decorated it as such. It’s where I make my coffee every morning and otherwise the room was completely empty. Then I got a plant, and sat it right in the lonely corner by itself, and the emptiness of the room was basically screaming at me every time I looked at it.

Okay well some of the screaming may have just been from Luke. But it just didn’t have a purpose! I knew I didn’t want it to function like a proper dining room, but I did want to finish the space and still allow the room to feel open and airy. When HomeGoods reached out to work together on a project, I knew I had to tackle this room. So – welcome to my new coffee nook!

SAMSUNG CSC

As you can see, my cat Gravy has made himself quite at home already. I had chairs that I had already purchased, but I needed a rug and other accessories, along with a table to complete the sitting area. I went to the HomeGoods closest to me to find a very specific table and I found the perfect one!

SAMSUNG CSC

Since the rug was a bit dark, and the chairs were dark, I wanted a light marble table. I was also willing to settle for glass, but I really wanted marble. And there are tons of marble accessories to choose from, so had I not found this perfect table, I would have made up for my marble needs with accessories. The finish on the legs and edge is antique gold, which feels cool, and I think it fits in the room just perfectly. To add a bit of height, I found some cook books in the kitchen section of the store, and stacked 3 of those and placed a floral* arrangement on top.

SAMSUNG CSC

I couldn’t help but make a batch of apple fritters for my family the other day. I hit the jackpot with some perfectly tart granny smith apples, and immediate knew they would work perfectly in a fritter. If you’d like the recipe, just click here! It was such a fun project to work on, and HomeGoods is a place I’ve shopped at for years and years. The rug in our living room, which I’m asked about frequently on Snapchat, is from HomeGoods as well. I noticed a really vast selection of neutral colored rugs at the store, and had 3 favorites but ultimately narrowed it down to this one.

SAMSUNG CSC

My next project is to create a plant stand for my little tree to the right of the seating area, so that feels a bit more intentional, but otherwise the room is pretty much done!

SAMSUNG CSC

I love that the room functions for what we need it for, versus what the traditional use for it is. And I also love that I’ve checked the box of “finish the dining room area” on my to do list!

No Twitter, blog, or Facebook, because I’m the worlds lone holdout in such things:p

I really would love the chance to try a HomeGoods makeover. We have 2 in our area, and while I go in with great intentions, I’m always so overwhelmed by both stores that I usually leave with nothing. It would be great to have a head start in making our bedroom or front living room more homey, as those are the rooms which get the least attention (even though the front living room has become more of a playtime staging area for our 16 month old).

Beautiful coffee nook! If I were to pull that off in our house, my husband would demand it be in Dunkin Donuts pink and orange with full time employees at his beck and call;)

My bedroom is in desperate need of a makeover. Like many others, my bedroom is the last to get the star treatment because guests typically don’t see it. When we moved into our new house a year ago, I prioritized the high-traffic rooms first, like the kitchen and living room. This has left my bedroom neglected and a place where it’s stressful to lay my head down at night instead of a sanctuary like it should be.

We are a military family and just moved in to a new home about a year ago. I have not been able to find decor for our house in the small town we live in. Home goods is about an hour away, so I try to get there as much as I can! My bedroom and our living room could use some help for sure! The only rooms that look put together are my kids rooms. I’d love the oppurtuity to win to help get our house looking like a home!

When we moved to Raleigh almost 1 year ago, I was newly pregnant with our second baby. We bought our “forever home” in March and immediately re-did our now 2 year old’s room and the new baby’s. They look great, but they are the only rooms in the house done to my liking! I’d love to shop HomeGoods to give our master bedroom a little facelift. 🙂

We just bought a house earlier this year straight out of the 70’s. While our kitchen and bathrooms need some major work, a small project to kick things off would be the perfect – our entryway would be perfect! When you enter the front doors of our house you’re met with a wall of floral wallpaper and the option to go right or left in the fairly narrow entryway. I would love to take down the wallpaper and have shelving with a wall of pictures, hooks for jackets, a narrow bench and a mat for shoes to sit on. This contest would give me the opportunity to make my vision a reality!

We recently moved about 7 months ago and I had a baby 5 months ago, so our house is kind of a mess 🙂 We’re a military family too and so after many moves this last time we decided to downsize a lot of junk furniture rather than move it all again. We have a huge living/dining space now and things are looking a little bare. I’d love to start decorating it and have it feel more like a home!

We just bought a new couch for our living room, so that’s definitely the room I would love to update! I am working on a gallery wall for the wall behind the couch, and so some frames and wall decor would go perfectly. I also need a few curtains to liven up my window, and an accent chair would go perfectly below the window (similar to what you did!). I love this little coffee nook! What a cute idea in place of a formal dining room.

This gift card would be fantastic because my husband and I just moved in to our first home and we literally have noting but a bed and a couch! (And the couch was from when my husband was a bachelor, enough said) It’s so hard to decide on one room since they all are empty, but I guess I would have to say our dining room so we could finally work towards a table and chairs. That way we can finally have somewhere to sit and eat!

Sadly I don’t have a blog or twitter account, so I hope this entry will do!

My bedroom desperately needs a makeover! Three years ago when I bought our house, I said the bedroom would be the first to get done…guess how that turned out! The previous homeowners took the easy route for absolutely everything: instead of removing the wallpaper, lets just wallpaper over it! And then paint over it! And then paint again! What I’ve got going on now is some hand-me-down furniture, a bed frame from Amazon, and walls that are slowly but surely being torn apart. This gift card would be a great little boost to get me started on the road to renovation so I can finally feel comfortable and at peace in my space.

I started to create a make up/office space out of a small bedroom in our house and it’s been sitting incomplete for 3 years now. I would be super excited to finish it so I can actually have some room to get ready in and be organized!

I would love to win this sweepstakes! My living room desperately needs a makeover. We’ve only been in our home for a year and a half. At the time we moved I had a 10 month old, and was pregnant with our second so we never had a chance to really decorate and make it a “home.” We’ve had the same furniture since we moved from New York to North Carolina five years ago, and I’m pretty sure that it’s ten years older than that! I would love the opportunity to create a space for my kids and husband to enjoy that we can build together.

For the last feweek months I have been looking at our living room/dining room & wanting to change it up. We have lived in our house, a total fixer, for 10 years and this was the first room we rehabbed. I have paint leftover from our stairwell that would look great in there but it is a few shades lighter than what is currently on the walls. By using my “free” paint it would mean changing my curtains, dining room chairs, and couch because they would be too dark! And while we’really at it I’m over the coffee table that I’ve had for 12 or 13 years. (There’s nothing wrong with it so I feel guilty getting rid of it but I’m just done, you know?) None of this would be an issue if we were going to live here another 10 years but we would like to move on to a larger place in the next 2, so anything that would help keep the cost of a spruce up down would be great! I’m too practical to go spend $2k for new furniture I want but don’t need!

The HomeGoods in Brier Creek has a cycle of adorable buffets that I’ve been dying to purchase. My vision is to add a buffet to store all my books, supplies, printer, etc. so they’re not an eye sore and to be something I could re-purpose after I graduate!

I have been searching Pinterest for every way I can decorate on a minimal budget like mine. I’m a single girl with a lot of bills, so I nickel and dime wherever I can. I live in an apartment that is a multi-family house, so the vents are shared. Unfortunately my neighbors are people who smoke (a few things) and being an allergy sufferer, I have isolated myself to my bedroom frankly because it is easier to manage to ion/ air purify/ candle scent/ diffuse essential oils in one small space to keep the neighbors recreational away from my nose. Long story long, my bedroom needs to be my happy, zen place, especially because I am almost quarantined to it! I’m in need of some essential items to help the atmosphere and really make my bedroom a place that I can relax after working a long day. I’m such a homegoods fan, but can’t always afford to shop there. This would be such a treat! Sorry for blabbing and I’m such a giant fan of your blog. Any time I get a compliment on how I style my hair, I always have to give Kate @ thesmallthingsblog.com a giant shoutout for teaching me everything I know!

Your coffee nook looks great! I love HomeGoods! I shop there all the time for my house. My “office” could really use some help. It’s not so much an office as it is a “catch all” room. It’s got one desk and one table, a short filing cabinet, a large closet filled with my craft supplies and overflow from the rest of the house and almost all the walls are adorned with sports stuff and my husband’s golf stuff. Like I said, this room could really use some HomeGoods magic. 🙂

We have a second-floor open loft that needs attention. Thinking of turning it into an office/craft/homework station. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Homegoods. A new one is opening really close to me in the next few months which could be a very dangerous (expensive) thing for me. Currently, I have to drive over an hour to get to one.

Both my office and my bedroom are in need of a makeover. I’d like to do the bedroom first, but I know the office needs it a lot more.
