Mind on cooler temperatures. . .

fall style

It’s officially fall, but here in Raleigh we won’t start to cool down for another month or so. Either way, my mind is on cooler temperatures, and I’m excited to get out some sweaters and flats!

cooler temps

one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine

It doesn’t really get cold enough to bundle up until about February here, so layers of vests or lightweight jackets over thinner long sleeve tops are what I wear in the fall and early winter. And I’m pretty active with the boys, so any booties with heels must be comfortable enough that I feel like I can keep up with them in!

I found a grey vest on super sale at TJ Maxx, but had I not found that I would have grabbed the black vest pictured above. I get so much wear out of this green vest, and I like having another color to choose from.

Is it starting to cool down by you?! What are you most looking forward to wearing this fall?

Hey Kate! Such great looks go fall, but where did the dress that you have on come from? I love it!

I live in New Hampshire and this weekend we are supposed to be in the 60s for a long stretch of time according to my iPhone! We’ve had some beautiful fall like weather mixed with some summer temperatures the last couple of weeks. I tend to wear layers because it’s very chilly in the morning and then hot by afternoon. I’m most looking forward to wearing oversized sweaters with my yoga pants and boots!

It’s going to be in the 50’s and low 60’s here in NH this weekend, and the leaves are already changing color. Fall is my favorite!??

I LOVE wearing vests this time of year. I have army green, burgundy, and black. They are seriously the best layering piece for Fall! πŸ™‚

I just moved to Raleigh 4 months ago. I am ready for some cooler weather (or at least a little less humidity!)

Love the army green and navy combo!

Kate says · 09.23.16

seriously! Just less humidity would be a welcome change!

I live in New Bern, NC. I LOVE the start of the cooler temperatures too… and when they don’t start, I just pretend. I am most excited to start wearing scarves. They are my absolute favorite. I have a three tier towel rack on the back of my closet door and it is home to several fabulous scarves.

I adore that grey top from H&M….but what bra would I wear with that!?!

Also, I’m in Texas so it’s still 90’s here and will be for a while unfortunately

Ha! I was wondering the same thing. Luckily I have like no boobs (kind of like a 12 year old boy up in here) so I could go bra-less but, for those who don’t look prepubescent, what should they wear?!?!

Reply
Marina says · 09.30.16

I love these backless bras and would definitely wear one with them the grey top! They have a bunch of different backless options… though I don’t know if they’d work as well for women who have larger busts (I’m a B and they fit great).

I live in the Salt Lake City area and our canyons (about 15 minutes away) are supposed to have 2 feet – yes, I said feet! – of snow this weekend! Leaves are turning gorgeous colors and cool, even cold, weather is here. Time for jeans, boots, sweaters and jackets here.

HI Kate, I live in Calgary, Alberta and we will most likely see snow in October. The colors through the mountains this time of year is beautiful.I have to say though I do like the vest and love it paired with the dress πŸ™‚

Hi Kate, I live in Yorkshire in England, starting with an autumnal feeling here. I’m hoping to treat myself to some knee high brown boots. X

You wore shorts and a t-shirt on a private tour of the Capitol–one of the most formal buildings in the United States–earlier this week.

Now you are doing a post on fall fashion.

Is this the lifestyle blog version of “The Onion”?

Reply
Pam says · 09.23.16

Obviously you have not been on a tour of the Capitol in September! It’s hot and no one is dressed up that is on a tour nor is it expected! If you don’t have anything to say don’t say it! We LOVE Kate and her posts!

Reply
Kate says · 09.24.16

B, if you read the post you would know that I was contacted by Kate literally the night before we did the tour. I had not planned on the tour. I asked Kate if I needed to find nicer clothes and she assured me that it was okay to be casual. Your accusing tone is not welcome here in the comments.

Kate you dumpy idiot. What an ugly outfit. And YES YES YES to the poster who said you’re like the onion of fashion and beauty. What a joke. Stop with the ugly (and very unflattering to your unfit and lumpy body) outfit posts. You ARE NOT FASHIONABLE! For gods sake you wore horrible jean shorts and a see through tee shirt to the Capitol! And no sad Kate fan girl.. EVERYONE dresses up as a sign of RESPECT, something both of you don’t have. I laughed and laughed when I saw your smug photo.. in your jean shorts. Hahahahahaha! Just SO DUMB! Give it up.

Obviously a jealous troll who is insecure or else you wouldn’t waste one second coming up with all that humorous, 3rd grade wording. Get a life. Nobody asked you to read her posts. Something made you follow her in the first place. Oh wait…her FASHION and STYLE maybe? You’re one of those who want a reaction, yet Kate isn’t giving it to you childish idiots who have nothing better to do. Good for her!! Lol

Sherry-thanks for the support! Don’t bother replying to these comments as it is the greatest waste of your time! Appreciate you defending me, but please know that a comment like that is more reflective of the person that wrote it versus saying anything about me.

I’m sure you’re right. I just have zero tolerance for nastiness. It’s just not necessary and none of what was said is remotely true. Please keep doing what you’re doing and know you have lots of followers who think your blog is gold. πŸ™‚ You do an amazing job!

Hi Kate,

Would you mind sharing what size you purchased in the H&M baseball shirt?? I’ve never purchased anything from there and have no idea about their sizing. My perception is that they run small in everything so I dont want to buy my normal size, which is usually a medium or small. Would you mind sharing??

Thanks!
Alison

Those flats are super cute! The nude colors work well for balancing out the heavy colors of fall (such as navy, wine, hunter green, and berry).

I’m really into vests as well, been on the hunt for the herringbone vest from J. Crew for the longest!
