My friend Caroline asked me if I was interested in going to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale with her last week and I said sure! I had never been before, but I’ve heard plenty about it online, and she’s an annual attendee. We planned to go the day that the sale launched, but her husband was under the weather, so we just went last night!

I went into it really open minded, with nothing specifically on my mind to look for, and I was completely surprised to find really great deals on some of my favorite things from brands that I love and know well.

You may remember this post in which I professed my love to the brand AG. I’m a big advocate of investing in quality pieces that you wear constantly, and going cheaper on items that don’t get as much wear. I got a distressed pair last night for a good price, considering AG’s normal price tag.

The booties are adorable. I was drawn to the grey shade but Caroline and I agreed the lighter taupe shade was better and looked less “clunky”.

I love Zella lived-in leggings (which are also on sale but I already have 2 pairs!), and this zip up hoodie is super thin, light, and fits great. The climate here is warm for the better part of the year, so this is a great weight for warm fall and spring days.

I saw the high-neck swimsuit hanging on a wall and thought about just walking past it, but I grabbed it and ultimately it became the best find of the night! The high-neck is basically a requirement for me when it comes to swimsuits, and this fit like a dream.

The black top is versatile and stretchy. I love the look of tops like that but they always seem to be in a zero-stretch fabric like a blouse. This is comfortable, stretchy, and long so I’m sure I’ll wear it a ton this winter. I sized down to an XS because it runs a little large.

If you’ve never been before, here is a quick explanation. Currently you can have access to the sale if you are a cardholder, of which I am not hence the reason I went with my friend who IS a cardholder. You can only buy things at the sale price tag with a Nordstrom card. If you don’t have or want a card, the sale is available for anyone starting on 7/22!

I like that you selected a handful of gorgeous picks. That bathing suit is beautiful, but I am wondering why you mentioned a high neck suit as a requirement for you. I’ve never owned one like that–am I missing out on something?

It’s just what I feel most comfortable in since I’m pretty active in the pool with the boys.

That makes sense. I love rash guards for that reason as well.

How is the tunic material as far as wrinkling? I bought a similar one during the sale last year and it turned out to wrinkle so easily. I love the style, but it looked so messy by the end of the day.

I have that tunic in almost every color and pattern. I wash them on gentle and hang to dry. They wear like a dream. I am a dentist and they are perfect for stretching and bending. Add a scarf or a necklace, wear it under a blazer, or with jeans. The possibilities are endless.

I had the same problem as you, Jacqueline, even when hung to dry. I think I will pass this year.

Hi Kate,

How did you find these AGs to fit? I am a TTS 32, but lately haven’t been as good about hitting the gym and my 33s have been a bit more comfy. Wondering if they fit snug (in which case I wouldn’t even try them). I’ve been eyeing them at the Anni Sale but don’t live close to a store. Keep closing my browser on them, and then of course they showed up in your picks!!

I tried these on and found them to run small. I’m a size 25 in Paige and J Brand jeans but since upping my weight lifting game, I literally could not get these jeans over my quads in my usual size. I had to go up two sizes just to get them on and then they were too large in the waist. I passed because it wasn’t worth the money to my to buy them and then spend additional money to tailor them. Just my two cents. I hope they work for you though if you buy them!

I just bought a pair of Zella leggings that were too big and bunched at the bottom. Lady asked if part of anniversary sale, I said yes and she said then it’s free. Even got free shipping. I always thought tailoring was free but I don’t know. Jist food for thought. ..

That swimsuit looks amazing. Those booties caught my eye too. I LOVE Zella live in leggings – wear them for working out and also under tunics, dresses, etc… They wear so well. No see-through Lululemon going to happen with these.
