A Summer Makeup Look
Beat the Heat
My wardrobe remains quite neutral even in the summer, but I love to compensate for that with a bright lip or interesting eye. I feel like I’ve said this 1,000 times already, but my makeup routine is becoming more and more simplified as I get older, busier, and am working out more often.
For this, though, I chose a sapphire eyeliner that I smudged out and a seriously intense long-wear lip color that didn’t budge.
Products I used: sapphire eyeliner, lash curler, liquid liner (for dotting along the lash line like I showed here), mascara (top lashes), mascara (bottom lashes), eyebrow pencil, foundation, cream blush, cream eyeshadow (in Silver Ivory), eyeshadow palette (I used Caregiver), bronzer, highlighter
Across my entire lid, I use my finger to apply a shimmer cream eyeshadow. And that’s all! No crease color, no contouring the eye–keeping it simple!
I dotted my lash line with liquid liner for extra definition. Then I applied a small line of sapphire liner and immediately smudged it out to soften the line.
I curled my lashes and then applied a few coats of mascara.
Using a brush, I applied my favorite glowy, natural foundation.
I tried just brightening the under eye area with my brightening cream but I will say I touched up with concealer after these photos. It didn’t do enough to cover my basically black under eye circles.
Dusted on a bit of bronzer, and then applied cream blush to the apples of my cheeks.
For the lower lash line, I wanted a bit of brightness so I chose a light barely purple shade to compliment the cream eyeshadow.
Then applied mascara, of course.
The lipstick I ended up grabbing is a new Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick in Shockaholic. It’s matte, long-wear, super saturated color and relatively easy to apply. It has an angled tip, which I find sort of hard to work with, but it does go on smooth and doesn’t settle into any lines on my lips. Don’t make any mistakes as it will stain your skin! I needed to touch up my makeup around my lips when I tried to get it off! So, it’s definitely long-wear and great if you love a bold lip color!
The final look was light and glowy with a super statement lip!
Curious about my earrings? I made them!
