Deep Moisture for the Dry Months Ahead

The Charleston Hair Classes Recap

I have partnered with Dove for National Healthy Skin Month. All opinions are my own.Dove_Seal

The itchy skin after you’ve gotten dressed for the day is the worst, isn’t it? I give myself about 3 minutes to get dressed, and I hate when my dry skin turns on me about 20 minutes after I’m out the door and I regret not slathering my body in lotion before getting dressed.

Most often I cover my body, especially my legs which tend to be the most dry, with lotion but there are some days that I simply forget! So if I can take care of that in the shower, to help curb the extreme dryness of winter, that makes getting ready for the day just a little bit smoother (pun intended!)! And I know I’ve mentioned this before, but excessively hot showers are brutal on both your skin and your hair. Just like I suggest turing the blow dryer down to medium heat so you don’t scorch your hair, I’d recommend turing the temperature down a little bit too as to not dry out your skin!

The warmth of summer lingered much too long into what was supposed to be fall here in North Carolina. But, I think it’s safe to say, we are finally experiencing some consistently cool days! The heat in the house is on, and as soon as I click the thermostat over I notice my skin feels almost instantly tighter. Drier air makes for better hair days, but I definitely feel the dryness of the air through my body, which is already on the dry side!

Dove Deep Moisture Body Wash has a richย lather and is the #1 Dermatologist and Pediatrician recommended brand, and the #1 brand used personally by Dermatologists and Pediatricians at home!

November is National Healthy Skin Month, and it’s a great time of year to ensure you are hydrating your skin well! Dove Deep Moisture Body Wash with NutriumMoisture will hydrate your skin starting in the shower, and while it may not negate the need for lotion after the shower, it will definitely take the edge off of really dry skin! It also won an Allure Best Of Beauty Award for “Best Moisturizing Body Wash”!

I’ll take the better hair days! ๐Ÿ™‚ We turned the heat on last night, and this morning I’ve got that tight skin feeling. I’m looking for a moisturizing body wash, so I’ll give this one a try!

SOLD! Thank you you have described my winter days completely. I will give this a try.

Totally get what you are talking about…I have a love/hate relationship with humidity! Love the good hair, hate the dry skin!
Using a moisturizing wash means I’m at least halfway to better skin on the days I don’t have time to moisturize.

I understand why you do some sponsored posts, but this one is disappointing because it seems like some else wrote or edited it (presumably someone at Dove). The writing style is just completely different. It’s a good product though. I use it all the time.

I love your site. I’ve been an avid reader for YEARS and usually you’re really good about cruelty free products (without even realizing it) but I’m sad that your sponsored post comes from a big ol’ cruel company. Unilever (Dove’s parent company) tests on animals. Target’s UP, is pretty much the same, and cruelty free. I’m not mad! Just wanted you to know.

Exactly what I came here to write. I hate to see people encouraged to buy Dove products!

Oh man I didn’t know that! I have some dove beauty bars at home and I have to admit that I really love them. I will switch, now that I know that they’re not cruelty free. I’m usually so good about that but I picked these up on a super quick shopping trip and didn’t even think about it. bummer.

Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this blog. It’s simple, yet effective.
A lot of times it’s hard to get that “perfect balance” between usability and appearance.

I must say that you’ve done a superb job with this. Additionally, the blog loads extremely quick for
me on Opera. Outstanding Blog!

My pediatrician actually recommended I use Dove over 10 years ago! (29 now) And I still use Dove! I have allergies and taking an antihistamine dries my skin out on top of my already dry skin, so I’ve stuck to Dove for all this time! I also get compliments on how soft my skin is! If I use shower gloves my hands are even softer. Dove fan over here!

I really need to try this. My skin get so terribly dry in the winter especially once the heating is on! I slather myself in lotion but a bit of a boost in moisture is always good!

Dove body wash is great! I used to use it all the time, until I started making my own soap. Now I’m totally addicted to handmade soap. ๐Ÿ™‚

I agree with Courtney on the animal testing. There are so many good non animal.tested products. I have loved your blog but am moving on. The sponsored stuff is just not my thing.

I love Doves approach to beauty! Love their beauty at any age campaign! This shower cream is a good shout for dry skin as there is none of the irritating and super drying/skin stripping SLS that is in most shower gels AND it has soybean and sunflower oil which will both help skin keep in water. My top tip for stopping dry skin is to IMMEDIATELY apply a body oil or moisturiser after you get out of a warm bath or shower, LOCKS that moisture in ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Kate,
I’ve been an avid follower of you for years .. absolutely loving the beauty/hair tips & tricks. Even loved when you started adding personal details of your life with the boys. Lately though it seems your blog has become one big commercial. I totally understand that the blog is how you make your living & you need sponsors in order to do that. Sadly though – it just seems like most days you are either trying to sell a product or a service. I definitely don’t look forward to my daily ‘smallthings’ updates like I used to ๐Ÿ™

Hi Chris! I explain sponsored posts here if you’d like to read a little bit more about them and why they are a part of this site! https://www.thesmallthingsblog.com/faq/

I ended up getting a small bottle of the body wash yesterday, just in case I didn’t like it.
I used it this morning and I love the soft scent. Also, I purposely didn’t put on lotion and my skin feels great!! Thanks for the great tip!!!

I used to use this body wash all the time. It used to be the only thing I bought. It is an odd complaint, but you know why I stopped buying it….the packaging. What does everyone do when something starts running out? Turn it upside down. Do you know how easy that is with a weird pointy top to the bottle, nearly impossible. SO when they changed the packaging to this I looked for other options. Silly I know.

It’s horrible to see people lapping up this recommendation. Dove’s products are a soup of chemicals…. check out the ingredients. Especially as women, these products can really mess up your hormones.
When there are natural products out there, why would you pay for this?
