hi Kate! Loved your favorites. You might want to try Neutrogena Norwegian formula hand cream. It’s fragrance and alcohol free, but it works so well on my super dry skin with eczema. It’s not pretty and it doesn’t smell fantastic but it works so well.

I agree! So many of us have sensitivities to fragrances but love all the girly products. How about highlighting products that don’t contain fragrances? Sometimes I feel like a kid standing on the outside of a candy store just looking in.

I got a black eyeliner from Julep and love it! I got a steel colored one also. They are my favorite. I purchased mascara from Younique and it is supposed to be amazing. I am hoping it comes today!

I love your videos! You are so funny! And now I have to decide between the MAC lipgloss set or the Sugar Ruby set… oh my poor bank account…

Love how you do your videos! I really enjoyed watching it all the way through because it was so personal. Think I’ll try the lip glosses and eye liner.

I love your beauty favorite videos! I wanted to say that since you said your hands were really dry, i have a suggestion. Have you EVER heard of Josie Maran whipped argan body butter? It is absolutely amazing and i can pretty much say you would love it! I have had dry hands for years but once i started using her stuff… my hands are sooo soft. You can find her on QVC.com, Sephora, or Josie Maran.com. 🙂 ( if you are interested in it, wink wink.. christmas gift for yourself??)

Lovely video! It’s too tempting to go out and buy everything you suggested. My holiday wishlist just doubled. 🙂

That made me laugh when you said “my girl Essie”. I always refer to you as “my girl, Kate” and my husband knows who I’m talking about 🙂 Thank you for this video! I’m excited to try the Naked 2 Basics eyeshadow.

No no no! You’ve got to try the Younique brand! Way better, more natural looking lashes. They are worth the $! 3D Fiber Lashes http://phatlashesbysylvia.com/

Hey Kate! Are you going to do a gift guide post? hope so. Neutrogena has a great hand cream that is lightweight and not greasy at all. It’s my favorite this time of year. great video!

Kate, this is a bit off-topic, but what size curling iron did you use in your hair for this video?? I’m trying to get bigger curls/waves but I either go too big or too small… Haven’t found the “just right” yet 😉

Few weeks ago i left a comment on one of your entries about suffering with dry hands. Few of your readers suggested few things. However, i received TOCCA hand cream in my birchbox and let me tell you, AMAZING!!!

Ok. My husband’s going to kill me. Your video shoved me over the edge and I ordered the Naked2 Basic Palette as my students were walking through the door. I have used the same shade of eyeshadow for years and years (Celestine by Bare Minerals) and have been dying to shake things up a bit. Thanks!

I’ve also been loving the Naked 2 Basics palette – especially the fact that the colors a great for really defining the crease. I love that it doesn’t go straight from a nude to a black like int he original naked basics! http://meowemily.blogspot.com

The Marc Jacobs liners are AH-mazing. I am not adept at applying liner, and it always becomes a super wide line by the time I get it looking good and then looks terrible by lunch. But, I invested in a set of the MJ liners and am never looking back!

You are so stinkin cute! I love your blog even though I don’t buy super pricey makeup too often. I feel like I know you and we could be friends if you lived nearby. It’s so stalkery I scare myself for even typing this. Keep taking care of you and your mystery baby – You can do IT!!

I know you didn’t like the Younique 3d Fiber lashes but we now have eye liners and they don’t smudge and go on super smooth. You should try Younique out again but on a different product! Here’s the link to check them out! https://www.youniqueproducts.com/DanaLewis/products/view/US-22102-00#.VHzBFovF_mc

Would you consider doing a tutorial with the Naked 2 Basics palette, just a simple everyday eye similar to what you are wearing in the video? I’m a stay at home mom (and have my second due in just a few weeks) as well and struggle to create a pretty, simple look without it looking either over, or under, done! Thank you!

Christen says · 12.03.14

I also agree! I’d love to see a specific tutorial with the Naked 2 Basics palette. I own it and would love to maximize its use as much as possible!

Do try the l’occitaine (“lox-ee-tan”) creme mains. As someone who washes their hands many many times/day, this works wonders at keeping them moisturized and free of cracks & splits.

Straight from the founder’s lips… 🙂

You look great for 28 weeks pregnant. What are you doing with your hair these days? It’s gotten so long. Maybe an update again? I agree with the above comment love, L’Occitanie lotions. If I just spelled that right. The shea butter one is lovely. I personally haven’t found a pencil liner that doesn’t smudge or end up melting into my crease by the end of the day, I have slightly hooded eyes but come on, something should stick? So I use Maybelline stellito liner, it seems to last the best and I love the little marker tip to apply. And can’t wait to try the Naked 2 Basics palette. Debating about buying it online today at Ulta to help towards spending $60 and getting the beauty bag of samples. Hmmm….decisions.

L’Occitane lotions are the best, especially if you have sensitive or dry skin!

Hi Kate!! I have a Black Cynthia Rowley liner I never used from BirchBox. Ok that’s a lie, I used it once and it wasn’t my fav! Haha but I will ship it to you! Hahaha I love Physicians Forumale Liner In the Black. It’s ahh mazing!

Reply
Karen G says · 12.01.14

Kate – you must try L’Occitane (l-ox-ee-tan) Shea butter hand cream. The stuff is amazing. I’ve been using it for a good 10 years and I wouldn’t be without it. I always have a spare on hand. I’m not sure how it works in the US, but in Australia the boutiques will give you samples to try, or there is a very small handbag sized tube you can try if you don’t want to invest in the big one. Seriously worth a try.

Seconded. Love L’Occitane, their scents are awesome, and the quality is unbelievable. The purse-sized lotions are perfect.

I also noticed on the link you posted ( https://www.birchbox.com/shop/cynthia-rowley-beauty-eyeliner-duo ) that under Editors tip (below the pic), there is an option to click and link and pick one eyeliner at a time. Maybe you already found this by now though 😉

You MUST try the Charlotte tilbury line!! Their eye shadow and eye liners specifically are great. They just launched in the US via Nordstrom but aren’t in all the stores yet but you can get it online. The eyeshadows are the most pigmented beautiful shades ever made and the eyeliner goes on so smooth! Your girl Essie raves about them too!

I almost commented on your lip balm post last month to say that Soap & Glory makes awesome lip balms. They do come in a tin, but they are completely worth the finger mess. I am PICKY about lip balm. I need my lips to feel a certain way, so I buy and don’t use tons of lip balms. There are maybe two or three I like, and these are better than any of my previous favorites. They’re thick, hydrating, long-lasting, and smell great. There’s a peach scented one and a vanilla scented one. I find them at Sephora.

Kate, a sales associate in Ulta pointed me toward the Maybelline nudes palette the other day. I’m in LOVE! I’m totally surprised. I’ve used it over their tattoo cream shadow but need to try alone. They STAY on and blend well. Again, total shock. I’m a shadow snob.

Seriously, Kate, I love your videos. It FEELS like sitting across a big ol puffy ottoman with a cup of hot chocolate with a friend.

Target used to carry Soap and Glory YEARS ago, and I was so bummed that they stopped. I would mainly buy some cellulite lotion, as it was a lot cheaper than the Bliss stuff I usually bought – to save some money. Then, I saw that they came back and were being sold at Sephora! I actually bought this lotion set to give 2 to my bridesmaids, as part of their gifts – and kept one (the original) for myself! I know my sister has been using hers, and I really like it. I may have to buy it again before it’s not available anymore.
