Despite my, um, dislike for my thighs, shorts are a requirement in the summer around these parts. A cute pair of lace shorts has been on repeat in my wardrobe as of late. I like how much of a difference it makes in an outfit versus a plain pair of grey ones.
I usually pair my lace shorts with either a chambray button up, or a colored tank top, but in an effort to expand my wardrobe a bit, I thought through a few different ways to style them.
Denim jackets are back in style. No it isn’t 2004. I remember wearing a denim jacket often while I walked around my college campus. I went to college for a few years in Michigan, so a jacket was pretty much necessary even in the summer.
My mom and sister bought denim jackets from j.crew factory a few weeks ago and suggested I get one too since it was so great. I turned them down by saying I would probably never wear it. And then I was packing for my trip to NYC and thought to myself, “Dang. A denim jacket would be perfect for this outfit”. My mom was kind enough to let me borrow hers and after wearing it for about 2 hours, I decided to purchase one for myself. The thing I love about this one is that it’s stretchy. Wearing constraining tops just doesn’t work when I’m hauling David around town.
So, get yourself some lace shorts and perhaps a denim jacket that you don’t think you’ll wear but you’ll end up needing one day. Both may end up being staples in your summer wardrobe like they are in mine.

I’m glad to have it on authority that denim jackets are back in style. I wore mine religiously in college (also around 2004) and have been wary of it since graduation. 🙂

Glad I still have my denim jacket! I remember wearing it in my senior year (2004!) and 10 more years it would be considered an antique haha and I still wear it!
I love the lace trend right now and I just got a denim jacket. I’m always cold so I take a jacket everywhere(even though I live in Kansas where the summers are very hot). Those lace shorts would look awesome with it. And I hate my thighs too! You don’t feel like the laciness(that must be a word:) attracts too much attention to them?
Love the lace shorts! I have been looking for a pair, how did the sizing work out for you? I definitely would love to try these but always get so hesitant when ordering from somewhere I never have if I’m going to get the correct size.

I’m on the denim jacket bandwagon! Even though I don’t currently own one, I think it’s a classic piece if styled right. And lace shorts really go well with it. It’s like a modern Americana kinda of vibe.
Is there an age cap on lace shorts? I’m 35 and I think they’re cute but I don’t want to look like I’m trying to be 25.
I love the denim jacket. It’s super cute and I want to get one. The factory one looks perfect, but I’m having a hard time ordering the right size. Sometimes I’m a small and sometimes I’m a medium. Do you feel it runs true to size? Any recommendations would be helpful. Thank you!
I typically wear medium tops but the small denim jacket fits me perfectly

I love my denim jacket! In my book, they never went out of style. It all depends on the cut and the wash. 🙂
Those shorts are great i have a similar pair in khaki, so easy to dress up or down

Sadly, I’ve been wearing denim shorts AND denim jackets nonstop for ohh, about the last 25 years, but I’m glad I’m somewhat in style now! Cute shorts too btw!

Great outfit ideas. I didn’t realize lace shorts could be versatile. They would be very handy for an event where you don’t know if you should be casual or dressy.
Just wondering what length the lace shorts are. I clicked on the link but couldn’t find the length. I HATE my thighs so I tend to wear at least 7″ inseam 🙂

I have pretty broad shoulders, so normally jackets are VERY restrictive if I size to my body and baggy if I size to my shoulders.
