5 Minute Face

next
My C-Section Experience

On days where I’m running errands, or don’t have time to get completely ready, I have a quick make-up routine that I always run* to.
*see what I did there?

Even just a little time spent splashing water on my face and applying a little bit of makeup helps me feel awake and refreshed.

First, I’ll wet my face with warm water to give me a “clean start”. I don’t wash my face in the morning.

Next, I’ll apply a pea size of moisturizer (either a makeup primer or a serum, whichever I prefer that day).

I’ll add concealer under my eyes, at the corners of my nose, the center of my chin and any other area that needs concealing.

After that, I’ll apply a light dusting of Mac Studio Fix powder foundation all over my face and neck with a large, fluffy brush.

With my fingertips, I’ll rub a bit of cream blush into the apples of my cheeks. I’ll finish with a dot on my lips as well.

I use a grey eyeliner (I find that it’s a bit softer than black for a minimal look) and line my upper lash line.

I’ll add a few coats of mascara and then I’m set!

Kate, Did you find a new mascara that doesn’t pull thin weak lashes down?
I’ve tried so many different kinds, just to find very shortly after application lashes are straight as can be. So far I use Maybelline New York mascara the one in the thin gray tube.

I have the same problem, drives me crazy!

I have this same problem!! I have started applying a tiny amount of waterproof mascara first because it keeps my lashes curled without fail! My current favorite is a quick coat of Maybelline Great Lash waterproof hydro fudge and then a couple costs of Covergirl Lash blast volume (not waterproof). It never gets clumpy, provides lots of volume and the lash blast brush is fantastic at separating the lashes! And for some reason I have no problem getting it off at the end of the day- my Philosophy Purity face wash melts it right off!

I was a dedicated MAC Fix user and then I tried Make Up Forever Pro-Finish multi-use powder foundation. Have you given that one a try? I have to say I’m slightly undecided on which I prefer. Hope your hubby is feeling better!

This is a lot like my everyday routine with the addition of tinted moisturizer and often I’ll skip the blush, or the eyeliner, or the powder. I bet this is a beautiful look on you because you have such great skin and lovely features 🙂

A 5 minute face is so important. I use concealer under my eyes and around my nose, eyeliner on the inner rim of my upper eyelashes, mascara, quick eyebrow fix, and blush. It all probably takes me 2 minutes!

I need to try that mascara…I feel like our eyelashes are similar based on your past descriptions. 😉

Kate you are the best! I do have a question for you. Does the Olay serum have any fragrance in it? Im allergic to anything with a hint of fragrance. That is why I have to stick with clinique products it seems. Thanks!

Kate,
Do you any trouble applying a cream blush over a powder foundation? I often wonder if the creamy texture on top of the powder would not work well. Thanks!

What shade mac powder foundation do you use? I’m trying to order online. And unsure.

Kate, why don’t you wash your face in the morning? Maybe you’ve written about this before, but I’m a new follower of your blog. Thanks!

Just curious, why don’t you wash your face in the morning? When my face is dry, sometimes I wonder if I am “over-washing” it.

Reply
Jennifer says · 01.17.14

I’m curious about the face washing as well. My face is always oily in the morning, so I feel like I have to wash it. Maybe I’m wrong?

I also love to throw on a little bit of makeup–just for the pick me up in the morning! If I’m really in a rush I stick to a wash of sheer shadow, mascara, and lip balm!

Do you have a signature scent that you wear almost every day? or is that just me? (I feel more naked without perfume than without makeup).
