If I could fill my own stocking. . .

The more I thought about this post, the more I realized it can come off a little selfish. “If I could fill my own stocking”. . . as if someone else filling it wasn’t good enough.

I probably could have reworded it, but here was my thought behind it.

Let’s say I was filling a stocking for someone that liked similar things that I do. This would be what I would include in it.

Does that make sense?

Hope so.

Anyway, I love the little dainty studs from Bauble Bar. I’ve really enjoyed wearing simple and delicate jewelry these days, and love the subtle mint color of these ones.

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I’d love to get my hands on a diptique candle just to see what all the fuss is about. But again, $60 for a candle is rather excessive. Nest candles are about half that, so I thought that could be a fun place to start for my candle-snob ways.

I’m a sweets kind of gal and there is little that reminds me of my childhood more than chocolate covered pretzels. Isn’t that packaging of these so cute?

Of course there are a few beauty products on the list that I’ve been interested in trying. No surprise there!

Do you do stockings at your home? I think the only stockings we are doing this year are for the cats! I haven’t even bought a single christmas gift for my own child, who arrives friday, am I a terrible mother? I feel like birth should be enough, right?

Stockings have always been our kids favorite part of Christmas morning. Even though they’re grown now (29, 26 & 23), the stocking tradition continues. My oldest moved across the country this year and I’m still sending a stocking with her other gifts. I have so much fun doing it! One of the girls loves doing her hair, and I found a 1# box of the Diane bobby pins for her stocking this year 😀 Best wishes for Friday!

You’re giving him the gift of life and welcoming him into a home that is filled with love for him. That’s the most important gift you can give him right now. Congratulations and best of luck!!

My son is due on the 27th, and I haven’t purchased any Christmas gifts for him either. His aunts and grandmas have been purchasing up a storm, but my response was the same as yours: Isn’t giving birth enough?

I’ll be sending positive thoughts your way on Friday!

Stockings are the best part of our Christmas too. My husband is THE BEST at stocking stuff. We always wrap everything in each stocking and take turns opening things one at a time. Same with the gifts under the tree. One at a time- we open for a while then we eat and that goes on most of the morning. We have had years where we were still opening in the afternoon because we really take our time. SO FUN!!!
Best wishes on Friday. I had a C-section too……this may sound weird but I LOVED IT!! Had music playing in the OR….it was all women except for my husband and I had been in and out of the hospital A LOT during my pregnancy so I knew all the nurses/doctors who were in there….it was AMAZING!!!

I think the gorgeous nursery you put together for your son is a perfect 1st Christmas gift to him! You certainly put a lot of time and love into it.

My daughter was born on Christmas Day last year, and no, she did not have any presents. But this year she will double up because it’s Christmas and her birthday. My husband and I haven’t even bought that much, but her grandparents and all of her aunts are going crazy buying her things.

those are some lovely stocking stuffer gifts! I know what you mean about Diptique, they have some heavenly scents but I just can’t justify the price. I’ve never heard of nest, so looking forward to you getting one and letting us all know about it!!

I wanted to take this opportunity to wish you the best and pray that you and baby boy have a perfect c-section delivery on Friday. I’ll be thinking of you that day while I remember delivering my own baby boy 5.5 years ago. I absolutely LOVE having a boy! He’s changed my life in the most wonderful ways. **feeling blessed** An early congratulations to you and your family! 🙂

We didn’t really get much for our daughter her first christmas…and she was almost 4 months old. Our family spoiled her anyway, though. My sil had a baby five days before christmas though, and spoiled her bc her older kids would have noticed if santa had skipped the new baby, so she was sure to get stuff for the newborn too. I think you’ll be okay this year…and next too…just get him a couple boxes to play with ;).

My son was also born on December 13, and to be honest, I don’t even REMEMBER that Christmas–it is just a haze of newborn sleep deprivation! We did not get him specific Christmas gifts that year, because we already bought all the stuff beforehand!

It might be fun to just get a little stocking for Joey this year (like the mini kind at Target) and then get to know him over his first year and see what he likes (trains, a fave teddy bear, cats, etc.) and then you could get him a stocking with that on it, and his name. Besides, he’s only gonna be interested in milk this Christmas, so snacks won’t be his thing.

** one thing you could do for Christmas is buy him a Christmas ornament, and then start that tradtion, he gets one each year from you, then when he gets married you present him on this first married chrsitmas with all his ornaments!!!!

Kate, this should go on “what your packing in your hospital bag” but I’m here so… bring your Boppy! It will make those first days of nursing so much easier. The hardest part at first is the latch and if your struggling to figure out how to hold baby AND get him latched on it will be even harder. 🙂 Good luck and God bless!!

My mom puts together the best stockings, but this year she said my husband should start doing mine. Fortunately he is getting a lot of guidance from both of us. And that Fresh Sugar lip stuff? Awesome and totally worth the price. My cousin wrote about how it totally cured her super chapped lips http://poshpurpose.blogspot.com/2013/10/product-review-fresh-sugar-lip-treatment.html

He really isn’t going to notice one bit whether he has presents or not as long as there is milk available. 🙂 I know when my son was about 3 mos at Christmas, half of his presents were things like diapers and wipes that he could open and we needed anyhow. He really had no clue.

Kate, I just had my first baby 3 weeks ago and we aren’t doing any gifts for him for Christmas either. I figure the grandparents will buy him plenty, and he won’t know the difference, so we decided to start a savings account for him instead. Maybe you might do that for your little guy. 🙂

I gave birth on Christmas Eve 3 years ago. We didn’t do gifts because we didn’t have time! He wasn’t due til the 29th! Best Xmas gift ever and a Christmas miracle! Stockings may be fun for your little one or a first Xmas tree ornament. I have a ceramic peanut because that’s what we called him. You could do a little Joey kangaroo! Anyways, wish you the best of luck on Friday!!
As for the Xmas bday, I always separate them 2 to 3 weeks apart and I ALWAYS make a kid cake to make his day special!

If you like strong scented soy candles, check out Archipelago Botanicals – That’s my one household splurge! And they’re also about half the price as the Diptique Candles. We do stockings in our house, and I love finding little things to put it them for my husband and 2-year old son.

If you love candles but can’t fathom spending $60 (’cause who can?!), I’d recommend the 5B Candle Company in Kansas City. They have tons of great scents, and the scent LASTS. I order from them whenever I need more candles!

The birth is definitely enough! We finally got stockings for the whole family this year. I wanted to last year and didn’t get around to it. I bought them for all five of us on Etsy. There are so many cute ones, and they are more original than buying them from a chain store. We don’t have a mantle so my husband made us a Merry Christmas stocking holder for the wall to hang them from. (Shameless plug for his Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/brandnewtome) 🙂

Ahhh…mama-guilt! Don’t you worry about sounding selfish or buying gifts. Everything your little one really wants and needs comes from you anyway. Feed. Clean. Snuggle. Repeat. But I do like that idea of a first ornament! I hope all goes well for you tomorrow and hope you get that stocking too…this may be your last day to even think about what you would want in a stocking for quite some time!

This is not selfish at all! Often I buy things for my husband to put into my stocking. However, usually it is just yummy chocolatey treats. Since he doesn’t eat chocolate I figure this is a good way to make sure there is some in my stocking. And, he loves when I do this because it is one less thing he has to think about. Growing up, both my mom and dad did this too. However, if you and your family decide this it is ok to add one or two items yourself I suggest putting a limit on the item that you buy for your stocking.

Stocking stuffers were a big deal in my family growing up. I liked getting a whole box of Frangos in my stocking (in my favorite flavor)! along with whatever my mom stuck in there. Stockings are sadly not as big of a deal now that I’m married. (I don’t think my husband quite gets the idea of stocking stuffers.) Neither is the childhood tradition of new jammies on Christmas Eve or a full hot roast turkey dinner for lunch on Christmas Day. I have kept the tradition of cinnamon rolls and scrambled eggs for breakfast, and bringing my own hot turkey for lunch. 😉

I second the ornament. Hallmark has adorable “baby’s first Christmas” ornaments with the year printed. We still get our toddler an ornament every year and, as we decorate, we remember out loud where that particular ornament came from.

i am here to give testimony of how i got back my husband, we got married for more than 9 years and have gotten two kids. thing were going well with us and we are always happy. until one day my husband started to behave in a way i could not understand, i was very confused by the way he treat me and the kids. later that month he did not come home again and he called me that he want a divorce, i asked him what have i done wrong to deserve this from him, all he was saying is that he want a divorce that he hate me and do not want to see me again in his life, i was mad and also frustrated do not know what to do,i was sick for more than 2 weeks because of the divorce. i love him so much he was everything to me without him my life is incomplete. i told my sister and she told me to contact a spell caster, i never believe in all this spell casting of a thing. i just want to try if something will come out of it. i contacted traditional spell hospital for the return of my husband to me, they told me that my husband have been taken by another woman, that she cast a spell on him that is why he hate me and also want us to divorce. then they told me that they have to cast a spell on him that will make him return to me and the kids, they casted the spell and after 1 week my husband called me and he told me that i should forgive him, he started to apologize on phone and said that he still live me that he did not know what happen to him that he left me. it was the spell that he traditional spell hospital casted on him that make him comeback to me today,me and my family are now happy again today. thank you traditional spell hospital for what you have done for me i would have been nothing today if not for your great spell. i want you my friends who are passing through all this kind of love problem of getting back their husband, wife , or ex boyfriend and girlfriend to contact [email protected]. and you will see that your problem will be solved without any delay.
