October Q&A Video

next
Fall Bags

Well, my sister crashed my vid guys.

I sort of invited her to crash it since she was crashing at my pad, but anyway. . .

I really liked having a special guest. Maybe I’ll make it a thing.

You should know that we didn’t run through a SINGLE THING other than the intro (which was genius if I may say so myself) for this entire video. There was 30 minutes of footage that I barely squeezed down to 20.

The lighting is pure horror and my camera was, I think, dying a slow death throughout the entire video. I think the poor quality of the video lends itself nicely to the overall theme of the film. . . being: don’t expect much greatness.

I hope you enjoy it.

The Questions:

1. (01:40) How can I keep volume in my hair all day?

2. (03:20)  When applying mascara, without eyeliner or eyeshadow, how to you keep mascara from getting on your eyelid?

3. (06:14) Should I go to a hair color appointment with freshly washed or dirty hair? Does it matter?

4. (07:19) You’re stuck on an island. You can only bring 3 products. Which ones to you bring?

5. (12:03) If I have to go back to my hairdresser to get something fixed, should I expect to be charged for it? Should I tip?

6. (14:05) What are some of your favorite blogs or websites that you visit?

Laughed all the way through this FAQ video, which made my 5 month old son crack up right along side of me. Thanks for starting our morning off so well! Oh- I still use “phalange math” too. 😉

This video is not working properly for me. I can’t hear anything and it randomly stops at 7 seconds in. When I move it forward, there is no sound. Anyone else having an issue?

Ok. You two are the cutest. How people make it through life without a sister is beyond me!

Loved this!! The Q-tip “tip” was so great!! I have hooded eyelids and ALWAYS get mascara on them. I never thought to do my mascara first, wipe it off, then put on the eye shadow. My sister is my best friend so I could completely identify with your all’s relationship. 🙂

Love you two! And no worries, Kate. When I do math, I still use the little pointer dots on the numbers that I learned in like first grade 😀 Or my fingers…also I can never remember what 7+9 is, whoops!

Absolutely hilarious! Lauren, “Where do I get a Q Tip?” I love how you both have tried to reduce these types of questions lately by sourcing everything. But someone, people still miss the clues. You two are very gracious.

Super fun to hear Kate’s accent POP around Lauren.

Hilarious! I have the same problem as you Lauren! I get mascara everywhere when I put it on. My mom’s eyelashes are more like yours, Kate, so she has no idea what I’m talking about.

You’ve got me hooked on kenra 25- it’s the best! But, it never fails that every bottle I have gets a gunky build up residue on the spray nozzle that blocks it from spraying evenly. Do you run into this as well? Any tips on preventing it?

Reply
Dorothy Wu says · 11.01.13

Try running it under warm/hot water, and wiping it off. It usually works for me! You can do this before/after.

Reply
Brandi Laplante says · 10.25.13

You guys are so much alike. Bet you never hear that one 😛

How should you wear your hair to just a cut, no color? If they wash it anyway it seems like I don’t want to wash it that morning but does the stylist need to see how it would look on a normal day? Or is it not a big deal to wash it and style it twice in one day?

Fantastic video! Lauren – I’m so glad I’m not the only one who applies mascara BEFORE eyeshadow and eye liner. My eye lashes aren’t as long as yours, but my eyes are very deep set, and mascara makes a mess when applied! You made my day by letting me know I’m not alone in my beauty blunders!

LOL Kate.. I watched this video on YouTube yesterday an I have to say it was SUPER fun and FUNNY! You and your sister are SO good together, poor lighting and all!

Reply
Shannon McAlister says · 10.25.13

You two are pretty funny; thanks for the laughs. I had the same mascara problem my whole life. I had to put mascara on first and clean up the mess before I could do anything else. I changed mascaras a few years ago and noticed that my problem suddenly went away. The answer is to use a less wet mascara. Doing so, for me, meant that my lashes look less conditioned and frazzled at the ends. A little bit of Vasoline a few nights a week has solved that.

Hey! I wanted to share another long lash tip that works really well for me. I have such long lashes that I not only get mascara all over my eyelids if I apply it “normally”, but also have an added challenge. If I close my eye before the mascara dries, my upper lashes interlock with my lower lashes and boom!!..my eyes are glued shut. I know, poor me, right?
So here’s what works for me: try tilting your head back and looking straight ahead (at the mirror) when you are applying the mascara. This angles your lashes further away from your lids but still allows you to see what your doing. For me, if has the added benefit of preventing my lash-lock. Don’t ask me how. I simply do not know. Added tip: I don’t open my eyes wider than normal when applying the mascara but I do raise my eyes brows to “lift” my lids out go the way.
This technique has totally fixed the problem for me. I hope it can help some other long lashed ladies.
Cheers.
