Date Night Makeup
Outtakes + a few pregnancy notes
So I’m finally able to share about what I did while I was in New York City in April!
Through working with the BlogHer publishing network, I’m able to connect with brands and work on fun projects! Almay began working with BlogHer on a campaign and I was lucky enough to be chosen to participate!
I had never done anything like this before, and it was such a cool experience. Shooting a video with an entire team (instead of just me and my cats) was slightly more challenging, but tons of fun.
We shot 4 different makeup looks using different products from Almay. This first video is a quick and simple “date night” look. Oh, and as you know from the photos earlier this week, that’s just my “stand-in” husband at the end of the video!
I’m really grateful to be able to work on such fun projects. I never could have possibly imagined the opportunities that I’ve been presented with since starting my little blog 2 years ago.
The hair tutorial for this style can be found here!

You’re so cute Kate!
thanks! it was a lot of fun!
Kate, I gave your website out to a couple of folks in the nail salon this week who asked me, “how did you do your hair like that?” You have single-handedly saved my hair.
Thanks! 🙂
The video turned out great…enjoyed watching it! I also love your hairstyle!
I don’t believe I was EVER complimented on about my hair, until your blog… Now I get great compliments all the time. Thanks for all you do, giving women confidence is an amazing thing!!

I told a local celebrity around Spartanburg, Kimberly Kelly, OVER YEAR AGO, that she needed to make you famous. Looks like you’ve gone & done it on your own! Congratulations!
OMG I totally used to live in Greer and work at the Spartanburg County Library! Craziness!
Wow…well done!
You look beautiful in the video, but super awkward moment for you (I’m sure) hugging a stranger…
It was the producer, we had worked together all day!
Love it!! Also, love that you’re from NC! I grew up in Greensboro!

I saw your previous post about looking for that perfect diaper bag. Have you heard of Lexiwynn? There are design your own purse/diaper bag small company out of Chicago!
A great video, you look so happy and sweet. The foundation sounds nice, but I’m not sure, if I can get in anywhere in Europe.
Haha. Justin ain’t bald! 😉
So great!
Where can I view the video? I’m not seeing it or maybe I’m just missing it..?
You look GREAT!!! And I’m so stoked for you on your pregnancy! I had an inkling when you stopped posting regularly after being ill, and then kind of knew when you decided not to run with your mom and sister in the tri. This is fantastic, Ms. Katie-Bird. Congrats to you and your husband.
That was so fun, good for you! You must have had an amazing time! 🙂
So fun! Thank you for sharing!

I don’t see the video either. 🙁
Count me in on the not seeing the video. I thought I was crazy there for a minute until I read that others couldn’t see it either….whew…..
I love the LBD, was that provided or is it out of your closet? The whole look is adorable! You looked fabulous! Congratulations & best of luck!

Wow, what an experience! Congratulations, it was great!
I couldn’t see the video on Google Reader but when i looked at the post on your website, it wouldn’t load! It originally said “video not found or access denied” after I pressed play. I clicked on the center of the video when that message popped up and it worked… hope this works for others!
I don’t even see a video in the post. All I see is the post itself. I’ve tried various things but nothing is working for me. Not sure why.. 🙁
Try disabling anything that blocks ads. It worked for me.
Thank you! It worked 🙂
I love Almay! Great post!

That was cute! I wasn’t sure what your were gonna say during the lipstick part. It started off sounding VERY sultry and sexy! “I like to wear…” Holy Moly…what are you gonna say next? OH just two coats of gloss, ok, that’s still rated PG! 😉
So fun! Love the look.
Also, I agree with the previous posters – your hair tutorials are awesome; I’ve never received so many compliments as I have been since I’ve started using your tips/advice!

I’m new to your blog. Congratulations on your pregnancy!
I’m curious, does Almay make-up work for darker skin? I have typically found that there are very few over-the-counter cosmetic lines that I can use. I have tan/medium skin and most colors are too light.
I feel like this is the week of “I can finally tell you guys”!
