How to apply some shimmer to your face

I came across this photo of Cheryl Cole on Pinterest and noticed two things immediately:
1. Her hair.
2. Her makeup

The problem is it’s pretty intense for a “daily” face makeup routine, but I really liked the shimmer on her cheekbones and temple. I’m the girl that hates all things glitter on the face, but I do like some shimmer every once in awhile.

Thankfully, I already had my hands on some shimmer for the face thanks to the Birchbox Bridal Box! It came in the Benefit product and it’s called Girl Meets Pearl. It has a soft pink color to it and it goes on really smooth.

Here is a video showing how I used it.

So it’s just enough shimmer for daily use, but not like Edward Cullen in sunlight(If you don’t understand this reference, good for you. You have managed to avoid all things Twilight!). Of course, you can add a bit more if you are going out for a special occasion and you want to spice it up a little!

The one time I tried glitter/shimmer on my face was in college 10 years ago. I walked into a party, feeling great, and some guy asked me how I was sweaty already if I had just arrived? I was mortified. Ran to the bathroom and washed off the glitter. Never again! Kudos to you if you can pull it off without it looking like sweat. 😉

I like the shimmer! I am always afraid that it will make my face oily. Did this particular product make your skin oily at all?

I use a different Benefit product for my highlighter–it’s called High Beam. The bottle looks like a nail polish bottle. I dab it on from my brow bone down to my cheeks, and it blends right in! No heavy greasiness or anything. I LOVE Benefit makeup! They also make a great bronzer, if you don’t like shimmer in your bronzer.

Does anyone know about the dress she’s wearing in the picture? I’d love it (or something similar) as an exit outfit for my wedding.

Kate, I LOVE your blog!! I found it through pinterest and I can’t stop! You have changed my life on the way I do my hair. I’m just so bad at it and you make it look so easy. For some reason I can’t curl my hair with a dan curling iron but I can NOW with a straightner and I find it easier for me. Thanks sooo much for having a blog like this! The funny thing is these are the “big things” for me that make or break my day ha ha not the small. I just want to feel good about myself. Anyway, Your button went on my blog so fast! You have such a talent for doing hair and you’re such a cute girl, so keep the tips comin’! Thanks Kate!

Love your blog and great tutorials! Would you consider doing one on using a clampless curling iron to get those spiral Taylor Swift like curls? I’ve been trying to master it for my daughter who has stick straight hair. Thanks!

I love a little ‘shimma shimaa’ 🙂 I just found your blog on pinterest and am loving it! I really like how your blog talks about different things, (hair, makeup, food, crafts, ect..) and everything flows and makes sense. I have a beauty blog and was starting to feel a little boxed in by it. I felt like I could only blog about makeup, but seeing your blog has shown me that I can blog about other aspects of my life and other things that I enjoy. Thank you!
Have a great weekend!
xo, Jaimee

Love your video about how to use a flat iron. Do you have any suggestions for dealing with static that follows using a flat iron? Mine doesn’t have settings (Chi)to make it cooler.

If I were trying to duplicate this hair color, what would I say to the stylist? What color is this? olsonsforchrist@msn.com
