A few hair products (and a blow-dry tool!) I’m enjoying from Sephora

I picked up a few fantastic products at Sephora recently, and my hair is so smooth and shiny because of them!

First of all, I finally used the “reserve in-store and pick up” feature on Sephora’s website and it was a breeze to get the exact products I was shopping for. While I typically just order online, the Sephora near me is open and I just love browsing their newest releases in the store. I reserved the Amika New York Minute Blow Dryer Brush Set as well as the Briogeo Detox + Restore Kit, but you can be sure that when I went to pick them up I added a few extra things to my order at the counter.

And listen, if you are planning on doing any shopping for anything at Sephora, sign up to be a Beauty Insider! It’s totally free and a way for you to earn points to use on a bunch of things, and learn about promotions and discounts. I’m sure it wouldn’t surprise you to learn that I’m a “Rouge” member, and I’m always amazed at how great the perks are for being a part of the Beauty Insider Program!

The Briogeo Detox + Restore Scalp Revival exfoliating shampoo and Don’t Despair, Repair! deep conditioning mask are two great products to incorporate into your routine in the cooler months. Drier, cooler hair means drier skin which can cause flaking on the scalp. And while it’s relatively easy to exfoliate your face or body, exfoliating your scalp is a bit harder. This exfoliating shampoo not only cleans your scalp, but it helps detox your hair from any leftover product or buildup.

Combining that with the deep conditioning mask is a perfect duo to reset your hair!

I’ve shared on Instagram Stories a bit that I’ve been searching for a blow-dry brush tool that doesn’t burn my hair dry like some of the other brands that I’ve tried. I love this tool in theory, but until the Amika version that I’ve started using recently, I didn’t feel comfortable because I found other blow-dry tools to be extremely hot and loud. The New York Minute Blow Dryer Brush kit is such a great deal for the blow-dry brush as well as two of Amika’s top products. I’ve been using the Anti-Humidity Spray for years and find that it makes a huge difference in the longevity of my style, and the Perk Up Dry Shampoo is another great product to use on day two and make your hair smell great.

When I wear my hair straight, I always focus a lot of attention on the ends. I hate dry looking ends, so the Virtue Healing Oil has become a product that is a part of my regular rotation these days. It’s light, hydrating, and helps seal my ends so they look a bit more nourished than they are. And the healing oil goes deeper than just making my ends *look* nicer, it contains Virtue’s proprietary hair-healing Alpha Keratin 60ku which helps strengthen and “fill in the holes” in damaged hair.

If you are looking for products to help soften, smooth, and nourish your hair, I’m sure that you’d enjoy any of the ones I’ve mentioned in this post! You can find them, and so much more, at Sephora and Sephora.com

What products do you use with the dryer brush?

I tired Revlon’s version of that brush and really didn’t enjoy it. I felt it made my fine hair look really flat on day one to the point where I couldn’t do a day 2 hair – I had to wash and start again the next day. I also read a lot of reviews by people with similar hair and they were mixed to negative for damaging and flattering hair. Have you had this experience with blow dryer brushes? I don’t know if it’s just me or not.

Have you tried Briogeo’s honey mask in the honey bear packaging? It’s AMAZING and it blows their other masks out of the water. The absolute best is the honey one, then the kiwi avocado and last is definitely the don’t despair, repair. I wrote to Briogeo telling them to make the honey mask a permanent product. It not only makes your hair gorgeous but it smells amazing too. I’m extremely picky with hair masks and I hate silicone build up so I love that Briogeo don’t use silicones in their products. And I would go as far as to say that the Briogeo’s honey mask is the best mask I’ve ever put on my hair and I’ve tried them all…..

Andrea, I’m only seeing the honey in the bear packaging with the holiday set but there is one with it that says don’t despair, repair? Is there another one?

The honey bear one is unfortunately only in the holiday collection. Big mistake by Briogeo because it blows their staple mask, don’t despair, repair mask out of the water. So, get the holiday collection and you’ll get to try all of Briogeo’s masks ans you’ll see for yourself that the honey bear mask is the BEST mask ever!!!

The honey bear mask was a limited edition mask that was introduced about a year ago. Then it disappeared and I was so upset because I’ve never tried a better hair mask. I’ve tried them all and this mask is the BEST MASK EVER!! I ended up calling Briogeo and they said they would bring back the honey bear mask in a holiday collection so now their holiday collection includes the honey bear mask, Don’t Despair, Repair mask and their newest mask, which is a kiwi and avocado mask and is also wonderful! So you get a full size honey mask and 2 sample sizes of their original mask, don’t despair mask and the newest mask, kiwi avocado. I bought 3 because Briogeo said after the holidays, they honey mask won’t be available.😰 Get the holiday collection. It’s amazing except I don’t think the don’t despair, repair mask is anything special. The kiwi avocado is great and the honey mask is AMAZING!!!!

The AMAZING honey mask is only available with the mediocre Don’t Despair, Repair mask and you also get the wonderful Kiwi Avocado mask. About a year ago, you could buy the honey mask by itself but then it disappeared. I called Briogeo and they told me the honey mask was coming back for the holidays only in a set. Big mistake for Briogeo. The best mask on the planet is their honey mask and their staple mask that stated the company, Don’t despair, Repair isn’t anything special. I bought 3 of the holiday sets because who knows if the honey mask will ever be back and you also get the wonderful new kiwi avocado mask too.

Oh wow really? I have it and love it. It gives my fine hair so much volume. Everyone I know who has it loves it. I just try not to use it everyday because it does get so hot.

I’ve tried some other styling brushes and like you, I found them very hot for my hair and returned them. You didn’t elaborate too much on this Amika brush. Do you recommend it?

I purchased the Briogeo set. Do you use the scalp revival in place of your everyday shampoo? Then do you use the deep conditioning after the shampoo and how often do you use these?

These are once a week use for me!

I really love your hair color, can you tell me what you use to keep it from getting brassy and more about the blonde tones.
Thanks

Hi! I also love using the blow dryer brush – it makes my hair so soft & gives more volume than a straightener. Have you tried the Redken Extreme CAT Protein Treatment ? I saw this product recommended on a blog called The Hair Necessities https://thehairnecessities.bestonlineblogs.com/2020/11/11/the-right-product-for-you/ and wanted to see what you think about it!

Hello Kate,

This was super helpful when considering which products to buy! I’ve thought about a few different brands for a while now and have very thick and oily hair, so I can’t wait to try out the products!

As a side note for anyone else looking on here, I found a similar blog that discusses different beauty hacks and techniques that would fit really well with these products! https://thehairnecessities.bestonlineblogs.com
