Ask Kate: What color lipstick do you wear with a red dress?

Happy Friday! This was yet another marathon week (I think that is just going to be how they are now…) but we got a lot done! I cleaned out a few corners of the house that I’ve been neglecting and we took our family photos for Christmas cards!

The boys have soccer tomorrow morning and it’s supposed to be QUITE CHILLY! Justin picked up some pretty sweet sideline chairs for us (they rock!). Follow along on Instagram to see them in action.

Here are a few links + loves for the week:

I found the perfect long sleeve tee at Target last week, I’m wearing it above and I’ve linked it right here! I also got this cozy waffle hoodie from Aerie (size down!) and cannot wait for the temps to drop enough for me to actually wear it!

Redken has a shampoo and conditioner called “Brownlights” which is formulated to keep brunette hair from turning orange/brassy. It can darken light hair so it’s only recommended for brunettes!

Kelly shared a really cute Halloween printable for kids!

This pasta looks AMAZING. I’ve recently added Brussels sprouts into my diet and this looks absolutely fantastic.

My absolute favorite jean jacket is marked down to under $65 today! It runs true to size and I wear my typical medium.

I use this blow-dry tip every single time I blow dry my hair, do you?

Have you made Apple Fritters yet? They are really easy and so delicious.

I love seeing color trends when it comes to home decor. Next years’ palette looks very peaceful and calming!

I shared this on Instagram as well but my perfect fall drink from Starbucks is this: Iced grande latte with 1 pump of Pumpkin Syrup. It has just a hint of pumpkin without being too sweet, and when it gets colder here I’m going to try it hot.

I hope you have a nice weekend!

My hair isn’t damaged but it is always very dry which makes it feel rough. I tried Redken All Soft and the mega version and I didn’t see a change. Could you recommend a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner? I’m considering the IGK Hot Girls line but I’m not sure.

Use pureology hydrate! I’ve been trying to grow out my hair for years (always used Redken!) and would never grow. I switched to Pureology hydrate by Kate’s recommendation and my hairs grown at least 6” in a year because it is so much healthier! It’s pricey but I use Ulta 20% off to stock up. My hair has never looked or felt better.

Hey Kate, I think you mentioned this on Stories, but can you omit the OJ in the apple fritters and just sub milk or water? Asking because I want to make them and have everything in the house but the OJ! Thanks!

I think you can leave it out and you don’t really need anything in it’s place. If ANYTHING you could maybe try adding a tablespoon of applesauce?

I watched your live this morning. Your skin is really unhealthy. So much so, you probably shouldn’t be handing out any sort of skincare advice. Please see a dermatologist and stop offering these “followers” of yours “advice”. I really hope no one is listening.

Makeup is not the same as skincare, and if you actually did watch the live this morning you would hopefully have noticed that I was applying makeup and not skincare.

Stephanie says · 10.17.20

So you’re saying you’ve never handed out “advice” or promoted a product aimed toward healthy skin? C’mon. We all know that’s not true. Take care of your skin first and you wouldn’t have to apply that much makeup. Healthy skin should be a top priority. But I’ve never actually seen you use an SPF on your face before so…I guess I shouldn’t be expecting much else.

Stephanie- do you know what’s worse than “unhealthy skin”? An unhealthy personality. You should probably work yourself before you start telling other people what to work on. It’s much easier to fix “unhealthy” skin than it is to fix a bad personality so Kate is the lucky one here. I think Kate is beautiful and offers great advice, unfortunately you are too busy being evil to really know her. I hope someday you learn to be nice to others and stop being so hateful.

The Redken shampoo – is there a similar product for red heads? I have naturally red blonde hair and it’s starting to fade (my Mom had the same colour and hers is essentially brown now).

Jen says · 10.17.20

I would like to know this as well!

Did you ever learn if you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say it? This is for Stephanie.

Love everything about this look! What jeans are you wearing?

Thanks for posting the link to the long sleeve Target tee. They were just what I was looking for. I went and bought two today 🙂
