Happy New Year’s Eve

telluride ski trip : day 3 recap

Are you celebrating the New Year? What are you doing?

New Year’s will be pretty low key for me, like usual. Justin, my parents, and I will go to see Le Mis tonight, and then we’ll probably fall asleep by 10:30p. We head back to Raleigh tomorrow, so I will celebrate 2013 by spending some quality time with my cats. And doing laundry.

2012 was a great year. I’m thankful that I have to think hard to narrow down the list of great things that happened this year.

The first few things that come to my mind are completing the sprint triathlon, being featured on RealSimple.com, seeing Newsies in NYC with Justin

On a deeper level, this year presented new challenges that caused me to truly bend to the Lord’s will and trust Him completely with the plan for my life. I’ll share more about this soon.

Do you set resolutions for the new year? I set goals, and intentions, for things I want to accomplish in the next year.

Sounds like you’ve definitely had an exciting year. Can’t wait to hear more about your life plan! On another note, my great grandmother would definitely not agree with you doing laundry on New Year’s Day. The old wives’ tale is that you’ll wash someone out of your family. While I don’t believe in stuff like that, I always take a laundry break on that day in memory of her πŸ™‚

I’ve never heard that before–but I think I’ll take her advice. πŸ™‚

we are actually getting to celebrate this year! My husband is a firefighter and has not been off work in a few years and we live far from family… but this year my husband is home and we have family that will be in town! Sad to say though I am unprepared. I got so busy with Christmas that I didn’t even think about New Year’s so I don’t have decor πŸ™ maybe I’ll run out today and throw something together πŸ™‚

Happy New Year! I agree that setting goals and intentions over resolutions is a much better outlook. Looking back, you accomplished some pretty awesome goals. Cheers to what is yet to come and to inspiring others along the way!

I can’t really think of a better way to start 2013 off than quality time with your cats πŸ™‚ I’m convinced I’m a 65 year old woman in a 21 year old’s body haha. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. I don’t know how you’ll top being featured in Real Simple! (it’s one of my favorite magazines!)

AH! I’m so glad to see that NYC and Newsies made it to the top of your list ! My brother-in-law is in Newsies (yes, really!)! My husband and I saw it while they were still off Broadway and, i agree, it was phenominal!

I set goals and intentions, but I guess I don’t’ usually set out and say “This upcoming year will be the year I do this, this and this.” But then again, I’m also evaluating myself and trying to change and better myself on a daily, weekly, monthly basis. The New Year is just another day for me. πŸ™‚

Boy do I know about having to bend to God’s will and plan for my life and my families. Big changes this year and challenges because. I am praying for you! Sometimes it will be hard, but then you experience the amazingness of God’s love and plan and it will blow you away. Hold on to God’s promises. They are true and he continually comes thru

One of my favorite things about 2013 was discovering your blog πŸ™‚ I have always been sort of clueless about style and hair…and you give me inspiration (and directions!) for prettying myself up – I love your spirituality too. Thanks for being a part of my life through your blog!

i’m doing a “one-word” thing for 2013; choosing one word that rings true for me as something i need to be more intentional about, but not binding myself to a specific list of things to do or not do.

this year? GRATEFUL.

“…give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
-1 thessalonians 5:18

Happy New Year Kate! I’m not that into looking back at things I cannot change. I take the new year as it comes, with the circumstances (known or unknown) that the past year has given me. I have ditched the resolution thing. I still want to loose the weight, but I just don’t say it out loud (oops, just did). Maybe it will happen then πŸ˜‰

You go girl, I know you have the strength to follow the path you have been given.

Happy New Year! I am usually not one to make resolutions, but this year I am focusing on being more frugal and organized, reading more, and continuing on my healthy goals that I have been maintaining during 2012. The organization part is mainly so I can get my house ready to sell this spring/summer… which will be a project in itself!

Love what you’ve said here and I even prayed about this last night! I prayed that you’d be empowered to be bold about your faith: you’ve been given an amazing platform: USE IT TO GLORIFY THE LORD!
I completely understand the other post about taking on too much, and this year The Lord has shown me that if there’s too much going on that I cannot spend quiet time with Him every morning: there’s too much. He will provide no matter how much or how little you take on. You’re such an inspiration to me, and I absolutely love this blog!
God bless you in 2013
