High Five for Friday

Let’s  high five.

Why?

Because it’s friday.

Link up with Lauren From My Grey Desk if you do a high five for friday post too!

1. Today is my mom’s birthday. She’s the best. When the three of us (my sister, mom and I) get together, we always have a great time. She’s coming back down south in a few weeks and I’m sure we’ll celebrate her birthday while she’s here. Happy Birthday Mom!

2. My sister and I started a new hobby. Biking. It’s both fun and a workout. The first day we went out for a bike ride, we left my house and biked to a local trail at Lake Johnson. There was about 1/4 mile of non-sidewalk that forced us to bike on the grass.
AND I FELL OFF MY BIKE.

NEXT TO A BUSY STREET.
::embarrassing::
Thankfully, the grass was still covered in morning dew, so I fell and slid. Didn’t hurt one bit. . .on the outside. My pride was shattered.
The rest of the ride went perfectly though, so I recovered from my fall and we’ve biked again since.

3. When I had lunch with Birchbox in NYC, they gave my husband and I  each a Birchbox gift bag. One of my favorite items is this Tarte LipSurgence Natural Lip Tint in Amazed. I love a good lip stain because it lasts so much longer than lipstick. And the color is vibrant and shiny!

4. I’m dying in anticipation of my new Kate Spade bag

I tweeted a few weeks ago that Kate Spade.com was having a surprise sale (crazy deals) and my sister and I both ordered a purse, which was a gift from my mom.
But they only sent us one purse. Apparently their system couldn’t keep up with the orders so they couldn’t fulfill every order. So we were planning on sharing it, since we had ordered the identical bag anyway, and my sister was using it first.
I was browsing around online for Memorial Day sales on Sunday when I came across a website that said Kate Spade was having another sale. So I clicked through that link and found the bag on sale, even cheaper than the surprise sale price! AND if you sign up at Kate Spade.com, you get 15% off your first purchase.
So I ordered that sucker in about 1 minute flat.
And I cannot wait to get it.

5. My husband starts his job on Monday. He’s been chillin’ during a much needed break since finishing school. And by chillin’ I mean waking up to do P90X every morning, and spending the rest of the day researching bikes–he’s in the market for a mountain bike. And running errands, helping me with some housework, and checking things off the HoneyDo list. It’s been really, really nice to have him around. But I’m also excited for him to start his job too!

Have a wonderful weekend!

This comment is completely unrelated to this post. I was talking to a friend a couple of weeks ago and she mentioned she had been reading this blog, Small Things? And I said yes–I met her at Blissdom. And she told me y’all had been emailing and such. Her name is Angela. We are good friends! I just thought it was so funny, the blog world colliding with the real world. ;)

Have a good weekend! And your mom is gorgeous!

I love biking! My dad and I rode the Katy trail here is Missouri from Jefferson city to an awesome breakfast spot. Huge work out, all to eat a delicious and in no way nutritious meal! Makes it more fun that way, right? And from one clutz to another, celebrate the fall with no injuries! I always bounce up and do some stupid victory dance. Seems to take the edge off of all my public humiliation!

I’m sure the biking incident wasn’t as bad as what you think. :) I was wondering, could you possibly share some pictures with us of your wedding day? I love love LOVE seeing wedding dress since you have such classy taste.

I got that lip stain in my birchbox a few months ago! I love it! I feel ya on falling off your bike. I’ve done that several times, so embarrassing!

Sounds like a great week to me Kate! That purse is amazing. I recently came across Baublebar. Have you heard of it? They have the best jewelry and for dirt cheap. Well, cheaper than the expensive designer stuff. Check it out if you haven’t already! They have some amazing statement necklaces.

You also get 100 points when you sign up which gives you $10 off your first purchase. It’s been awesome so far.

    Happy Friday!

Did you get married at Abbington Banquets in Glen Ellyn, Illinois? It might just be my imagination, but the background looks very similar. I got married there in 2010!

We got married in South Carolina, but had a reception with all of our extended family and friends at the Abbington a few weeks later! :)

Thanks for the blog on the Kate Spade sale. I signed up for emails and got the extra 15 percent on top of the 50 percent. Oh I can’t wait to get my beautiful forest green bag!!

I run at Lake Johnson weekly! I live in the neighborhood right next to it. You’re so brave to bike those hills. I have a bike and I refuse to take it out there because I always worry I’ll face plant off those steep hills in the back. Hopefully I’ll see you out there one time – I’ll make sure to wave!

Ok…so I have to ask…Did Lauren laugh at you when you fell off your bike? Because that is what a “good sister” would do. :) Or maybe she checked to make sure you were ok??…THEN proceeded to laugh until she cried.

Happy Birthday to your mom. She is beautiful! What other thing do you workout to keep yourself in shape and healthy. Riding bike is great exercise as well! Love Kate Spade bag. Hope someday I can afford expensive purse! Have a great weekend!

Hello! I’m in the market for a bike. My husband has one and we want to start riding together. Do you have a preference/recommendation? There are so many brands and I am clueless.

June 1st is an awesome birth date! It’s my daughter’s 11th bday today too! Wishing your mom a Blessed Birthday :)

I’m so sorry you fell of the bike. Glad it only hurt your pride. I love biking! My fiance and I live by a bike trail and it’s so fun to jump on it and escape the “real world” for a while. It’s a great workout, too!

I just bought that bag – cant wait for it to arrive! I live in AK so probably no chance that we’ll run into eachother with the same bag. Thats why I felt okay copying you ;)

This might seem random but I like your mom’s haircut in the photo. Do you have a closer shot of her? The last two times I went to my stylist for a cut, we clearly had different ideas of what I wanted. She’s been so good in the past, I’m going to give it one more try. I guess I just need to bring in more precise photos. :-)Thanks! Love your blog.

I love mountain biking! I’ve gone over my handle bars, I’ve slid down a hill on my stomach and my bike went the other direction…. Let me tell you, I have the scars to prove it too. :) It’s fun though!

  21. says

Ha ha, I love your bluntness and honesty. I have fallen off my bike countless times but three that are very memorable including at a busy intersection with LOTS of cars around and in a gas station parking lot with even MORE cars around…You’d think I’d give it up…
