A Dimensional Dining Room Update

Things I Packed to go Skiing in Utah

It’s hard to believe that this summer will be 5 years that we’ve been in this house! I still could just pinch myself that we get to live here. From the wrap-around porch to the kitchen to the media room upstairs for the kids, it’s a dream.

I was itching to update/redo our dining room and finally decided to go for it this fall. The furniture I had purchased for that room was a hasty and poor decision. I didn’t like it the moment it arrived but I felt like I had to keep it because I was otherwise occupied with all the things that go into moving and setting up house with 3 little kids.

I reached out to StudioNine here in Raleigh (which has since been shuttered) and got connected with Natalie Kaelin. She was a breeze to work with and I felt really confident that she got my style even after the first meeting. Natalie has since branched out on her own, you can see more of her work here.

When it came to the dining room, I knew I wanted wallpaper and to keep the chandelier. Otherwise, I really wanted to see what Natalie envisioned for the room.

She picked beautiful and unique pieces that all work together without competing with each other in the same light. I couldn’t be happier with the space!

I really love the green chairs and the sideboard. And this may be my favorite rug in the whole house!

Kate, I really love that you stuck to your guns on the chandelier! I did a similar thing with a pair of chairs I love, but everyone told me were dated. I think that’s also the beauty of using the help of a designer….mine helped me pick other items for my room that made the chairs feel intentional and relevant again. Your dining room is beautiful!

Such a welcoming and lovely space. Could you post a picture of how you used the marble and brass shelving? I would love to see how you organize and what you store in the buffet drawers.

Beautiful update I’m loving what you did to your master bedroom.

I’m checking out that rug, I’m going to try a small one to see how it works in my space before purchasing the 9×12 thanks for the info.

It’s beautiful! It’s not my job to show off my home so I don’t buy things until I am in love because Inhave also learned the hard way that when I buy to fill a space I end up not loving the look like I do when I take my time and really fall in love with the pieces that make up my home.

Kate, do you have a link to the long sideboard table? I love it!!

I’m sorry I don’t have a link for it! Thank you for your kind words!
