I take my beauty recommendations very seriously. I don’t recommend things unless I’ve had time with them, and I always try to give enough context for the recommendation so you can make an informed decision about whether or not a product is right for you!
I have been interested in ALL the beauty things since I was a young girl. I remember spending time in my bedroom playing around with makeup, trying new hairstyles, and flipping through magazines to see what looks I could copy on my own face and hair.
It’s been a little while since I’ve shared a Master List of some of my all-time favorite products, from haircare to makeup to skincare, and today is the day! Of course, I’m sharing just in time for the Sephora Savings Event.

No eye shadow?
Thank you for all your recommendations. Can’t wait to try the invisible oil by bumble and bumble
I used to love your blog but now it is just an infomercial. Just looooong list of things to buy. How about instructions on what to use, how to use it, and ticks of the trade. That is what made your blog unique. Not unique anymore.
I’d have put this a little more nicely, but I agree. I’m not interested in Nordstrom or Walmart or especially Amazon. I haven’t shopped on amazon in years. quit using them several years ago. What I miss most is the friendly, chit chat that made me feel as if I were talking to an old friend I’d never met, rather than a professional influencer. I have a feeling that snippy, snarky, overly judgey comments are what steers this blog into more professional than chit chatty territory, and less open, friendly talk. That’s just the way it goes though. The bigger a blog gets, the less open it can be to protect the blogger from cranky readers! I’m thrilled that Kate can make a good living and I’m so proud to be a reader from the old days (before she had kids!) But I miss the down to earth blog that wasn’t quite so polished! Instead of so many suggestions from big companies, could we maybe see some independent cosmetic companies (like Elevate Beauty) and small family owned shops? I’d also love more recipes!
Thank you for this thoughtful comment Mee. I totally hear you on what you are saying here. I hope you love the small business gift guide that is coming next week!
Ohhhh, I’m so relieved that you took this how I meant for it to sound! I was worried it might come across as nitpicky! (It’s hard to convey tone in a comment!)
I forgot to say that the caramel corn recipe you shared many years ago is now a staple in my family! Friends even request it for birthdays! Besides the makeup tips, your recipes are my second favorite thing on this site!
Every hairstyle you have shown is for perfectly sraight hair what about wavy like mine
