You must focus on a primer and a setting spray if you want your makeup to last! I also lean into creams and liquids in the warmer months instead of powders because I feel like they are more forgiving than powders if your face starts to sweat!
A few primer recommendations:
Smashbox Photo Finish Smooth & Blur Oil-Free Foundation Primer – perfect for oily skin!
Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Primer – this is the one I use often!
Urban Decay All-Nighter Face Primer
Laura Mercier Pure Canvas Primer – Blurring
Makeup I used:
Natasha Denona Hy-Glam Concealer in shade 4 – really love this concealer. It feels like more coverage than Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer.
Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder for Under Eyes – Never not using this.
Laura Mercier Cream Eyeshadow in Au Natural
ColourPop Pressed Powder Eyeshadow palette in Deja Brew – such a great price point!
Chanel Eye Contour Stick in 12
Lancome Liner Idole in Black – The easiest black liquid eyeliner I’ve used.
Lancome Lash Idole Mascara in Black
Hourlgass Unlocked Mascara in Black
Anastasia Brow Wiz in Soft Brown
Charlotte Tilbury Bronze and Glow Duo – only used the contour from this.
Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Natural Bronzer in Light Bronze
Patrick Ta Cream and Powder Duo in She’s That Girl
Armani Luminous Silk Glow Blush in Euphoric – this is such a beautiful shade.
Urban Decay All-Nighter Setting Spray
Hourglass Unlocked Lipstick in Lotus – such a fun coral/rose shade for summer.
Pat McGrath Lust Lip Gloss in Peach Perversion

Absolutely beautiful!
Great tips but unfortunately irrelevant for those who either can’t afford or choose not to spend such high prices on makeup. I’ve been a loyal blog reader since the bathroom hair video days and miss the content that was relatable to everyone. I think readers on a budget, or even those with higher incomes but financial priorities other than expensive makeup, would appreciate either lower priced or mid range alternatives. Or alternately tutorials that can be applied regardless of specific products.
I share those often. Just shared a reel today on Instagram featuring a drugstore concealer.
Could you pls link the flat brush you used to blend eye liner (under eye)? Thanks!
It’s a very old smudge brush from Sephora, I wish they still made the exact one! Here is a similar option: https://amzn.to/3CinWaB
Couldn’t disagree more about not using powders in the summer as a global statement to all. What someone like you, who has zero real expertise, experience, or education in beauty products, consistently fails to realize is that everybody has different skin and skin types.I have been in the industry for decades and you admittedly said it wasn’t your industry when you didn’t even realize that returning items increases prices (which is basic business economics). Please please quit recommending a “one-size-fits-all approach” when it comes to makeup!
Did you know that you can disagree with someone without disparaging them? It’s possible. Try it!
Agree! Yikes! It’s possible to share alternate opinions without putting someone down! And as someone who is heading to Savannah in August – I really needed and appreciate these tips 🙂
PREACH!!!
Great tutorials and realistic content as usual. Please don’t feel you need to reply to any negativity Kate, you don’t! Go ahead and do your thing and rise above ☀️🙏🏼
Thank you so much for your make-up suggestions. I find them immensely helpful!
This post was very useful! but considering individual needs is vital when it comes to skincare and makeup because everyone’s skin type is not always the same as yours. In my opinion, using powder products can be an excellent solution to prevent oiliness and ensure that your makeup stays in place throughout the day. I see that others share the same thoughts, which highlights the effectiveness of this technique. By incorporating powder products into your routine, you can maintain a fresh and long-lasting look, regardless of your skin type.
Very nice information, i like it.
