Feeling Thankful

Maybe it’s our upcoming wedding anniversary, or maybe it’s just this particular season of our life right now, but I’m just feeling extra thankful for the support, love, laugher, and fun with Justin. We light-heartedly asked each other last week “if you knew 13 years ago what you know now, would you still say yes?” and we both smiled and agreed that we would. Our life is so different than what we imagined it to look like when we were dating (I was going to be a hairstylist and he was studying philosophy imagining working at a church one day. . .) but it is far, far better than I could have even imagined. We sat on a bench at a park over the weekend and watched the kids play together, talked about the fun we had as kids, and how we want to create those memories for our kids as well.

After enduring a pandemic that has presented stress and uncertainty, and navigating the heart-wrenching loss of loved ones, I’m so grateful we have each other. It is without question that God brought us together (I met him the first week I lived in a brand new state where I didn’t know a soul), and I’m really glad I said yes when he asked me to marry him 13 years ago.
