Meet The Team: Amanda Lenweaver
links + small things
I’m happy to introduce you to Amanda today! She joined the team back in March, right at the cusp of the busiest season of my life/business ever. In a short time, she’s become a valuable asset that I rely on greatly and is also genuinely a delight to be around.
Amanda was brought on as an assistant but I feel like that word doesn’t accurately fit the huge variety of tasks she accomplishes. There is a great deal of detail work that goes on behind the scenes of creating anything from a blog post to Instagram Stories, and Amanda really has her hands in nearly every bit of content I produce. And as a very creative, type-B personality, I’m happy to have someone who thrives where I truly struggle!
I asked you to submit any questions you have for her via Instagram Stories, so here are her answers to a few of the commonly asked ones below so you can get to know her as well!
One. Where are you from?
I was born in Iowa but grew up in New Mexico and then Minnesota. My family is still in the Minneapolis area.
Two. Do you have kids?
I have a super cool little girl named Eleanor. She is four years old and has a personality as fiery as her red hair.
Three. Is that your hair color natural?
Yes! I have never dyed my hair. One time a stylist tried to convince me to get it highlighted but I was too chicken.
Four. What is your work background? What is your degree in?
I have a BFA in Arts Administration and Theatre Performance. Out of college, I was a professional actor for several years before literally running away with the circus. I worked for Cirque du Soleil as a Tour Production Manager and traveled to every major city in the country. That job also took me to Mexico, Canada, Taiwan, and Australia where my husband Jim and I decided to settle before moving back to the US in 2015.
Five. What has surprised you about working at this job?
I was surprised by how much hard work and time goes into creating quality content! The best bloggers (like Kate) make it look easy but there are a ton of details behind the scenes that need attention.
Six. What are some of your hobbies/things you like to do on the weekend?
I love spending time with my family on the weekends. I enjoy working out mostly because I enjoy eating out. I love discovering new places in our area which I think comes from my love of travel and new experiences. During summer weekends you’ll likely find me at a local brewery or swimming in our pool. I’m also not opposed to a good Netflix binge-watch in the evenings with the Hubbs.
Seven. Do you like to cook at home, or eat out?
I love eating out! I would eat out every meal every day if I had the choice. I’m always on the hunt for the best pizza or burger in town. Any suggestions in the Raleigh area?!
Eight. What is the one beauty product you’ve been using/loving the longest?
Deodorant…just kidding! After having Eleanor I had stopped using beauty products for a while as it wasn’t really a priority. The past few years I have really enjoyed getting back into beauty and makeup which is one of the reasons I began to follow Kate and, man, I’ve learned so much!
I have been using and loving the IT Cosmetics CC Cream for a long time now and have recently splurged on Pat McGrath Lab’s Fetish Eyes Mascara which I enjoy. Bring on those big lashes! I like to try new beauty products all the time.
Nine. Where are your favorite places to shop?
I am a self-proclaimed frugal person so I honestly don’t do much shopping (gasp!). I adore shopping at Anthropologie and Madewell on very rare occasions but most of my everyday clothes come from Old Navy, Target, Amazon, or my super stylish friend’s hand-me-downs.
Ten. Did you ever consider starting a blog yourself?
Honestly, I haven’t. I’m not sure what I would talk about! I’m really happy in a supportive role. I think where I thrive best is helping others grow their business and brand.

Hi Amanda! It Cosmetics CC Cream for the win! I think I can speak for all of us when I say we’d love to hear about your time in Australia. It sounds like it must have been an adventurous time in your life and it would be neat to hear what drew you and your husband to settle there.
Welcome! Hope to hear some more of you!
Such a fun Q&A! Looking forward to more content from Amanda! ❤️✨

Thanks for introducing us to Amanda, it’s fun to get to know some of the people you work with behind the scenes.
Hooray! I equally love and can’t wait to meet your girl “squad!” And I will secretly pretend I am one of them!
Amanda is one of my favorite people in the world (and have known her for 10 years give-or-take)!! So excited that you introduced her and your team to all your followers and so glad she invited me to join your journey because I learn something everyday!
I love that you introduced the team! It’s empowering to know that you can’t do it all on your own! And that you surround yourself with such fantastic strong women! I just started my own virtual assistant and event planning business and hope to do similar work to that of Amanda. If she would be willing to chat about how she got started I would greatly appreciate it!!
