A taupe-y grey or cognac brown colored bag are two really timeless choices for fall and winter. It goes with literally any outfit, even a head to toe black outfit, and can easily be dressed up or down.
I’ve had a cognac-colored bag for most of the summer, and the times that I want to downsize to a slightly smaller purse I’ll choose a grey option that I have!
In case you are looking to add a new purse to your wardrobe this season, I rounded up a few other grey and brown bags that I thought were pretty at a variety of price points below!
one. two. three. four. five. six. seven. eight. nine.
I really can’t say enough great things about this specific Tory Burch bag. It’s been thrown around and carried all summer long and It looks as good as it did the day it arrived. I’ve also carried a few different Madewell totes through the years and recommend the Zip-Top Transport Crossbody. It’s a great size bag for typical things you’d carry around in your purse, but also gives you a little space for extra things if you need it.
Lastly, this is a new design just released by Madewell that also looks like a great size bag!
P.S. You can see this jacket I’m wearing + a few other recommendations on this post!

Do shoes need to match the bag?
no!
The Madewell Zip-Top Transport looks so good…and the color name English Saddle just takes it to the next level 🙂
Do you have any recommendations for how you protect/clean/care for the leather purses you have invested in?
You know, I really don’t do much on the protection front. I just try to keep them out of water but otherwise I’m kind of hard on my bags. They hold up really well though!
Thank for the reply Kate! It’s good to know they hold up well without a lot of effort!
I’m looking for a nice taupe bag for my fall collection and #4 is calling my name…

All these bags are so lovely! I am a sucker for a good brown bag. They are the only colors I buy, and I wear them all year round. Thanks for sharing!!

Do you have any thoughts or recommendations on diaper back packs (or know of any other bloggers who do)? When I had my first baby 5 years ago, the back packs weren’t really a thing yet, but now that I just had my third baby and I see them everywhere, I’m thinking of replacing my diaper bag with a back pack style one. Having my hands free with everything on my back seems more practical too now that I’m majorly outnumbered by little ones! 🙂
I love my Freshly Picked one!
What are your thoughts on the Barrington bags?
