Shop Your Closet: The Stripe Tee

Kitchen Essentials

A stripe tee can really be one of the most versatile clothing items in your closet. With the right fit, fabric and shape it can be worked into so many different outfits, or even add an unexpected vibe to an otherwise simple look.

I’ve gone through many a stripe tee in my day, and I’m here to share my current front runners as well as show you 3 ways to wear it.

Universal Thread Stripe Monterey Pocket Tee, Daily Ritual Drop Shoulder Tee, and an A New Day stripe tank that I also have in grey! The Monterey Pocket Tee is similar in shape to the Madewell Whisper Pocket Tee but it has a bit more structure to it. The Daily Ritual Drop Shoulder tee is a looser fit, with a scoop hem that is perfect over leggings or front tucked into a pair of jeans. Most of all, though, I wear the stripe tank by Universal Thread and I’m just sorry I don’t have a link for you! It’s very similar to the Old Navy Luxe tanks but I like the fit and fabric of the Universal Thread tank better. The Old Navy Luxe tanks are much too thin for my preference and seem to swing out more than I like too.

So now that we’ve gone over my favorite stripe tees, let’s get into the looks!

Option One: With Camo Shorts

This is such an easy “throw on” outfit that can work for running errands, meeting friends at the park, and whatever else you have going on that day. I like the mix of stripes with the camouflage shorts, and the easy nude flats keep the whole look really easy.

Option Two: With More White

Of the three this is my favorite look, though it isn’t very practical for running around with kids! I’d opt for the camo shorts outfit, but for a work thing or any other time I’m *not* running around with the kids, I’d love to wear this outfit. The distressed denim is stretchy and easy, and the pop with the leopard belt makes the outfit feel a little fun.

Option Three: With Distressed Shorts

This isn’t all that different from the first look but it’s practical as heck and is a great basic for casual summer days. I wanted to show a non-sandal footwear option too as sometimes it’s nice to wear a slip on to a park with kids. These are Ugg slip ons that run a little narrow, but I like how casual they are for summertime. I also love an espadrille-like slip on with the braiding running around the base of the shoe!

I usually wear slip on shoes without socks, but if I wanted to try adding a sock into the mix I think I’d try gekks!

Notice these pics look like you’re losing weight. You ALWAYS look great! but I’m curious if you could share your secrets of what you’re currently doing… looking to lose some of my baby weight.

I love the white pant option, although I’m constantly dropping chocolate on myself so the camo is probably safer for me!

You always look darling. But my question is where is the rug in the picture from?

I’m fairly certain I got it from Amazon or Target!

What brand/style are your white jeans in the second pic? I cannot find white jeans that don’t look horrible on me!

That was my thought as well LIZA – that tee and those jeans were made for each other, but alas I think my hips are not the right shape for the rest of the jeans to look like they fit properly.
Does anyone know a good seamstress? πŸ™‚
