My go-to Lunch

Perfect rain jacket by J.Crew

I’ve seen an ad for this watch for kids and it looks really neat! I think David would be able to really utilize it and follow the commands, but Luke may be a little too young for it. I’m keeping it pinned on Pinterest so I can refer back to it around Christmastime!

I shared some of my favorite fall staples on the blog last week!

I love a slip on sneaker in the fall and winter, these look like great simple options at a great price!

I wrote a post reflecting on some things I learned this past summer. I tried to think of things that affected me/changed me as a person instead of only as a wife and mother. Both of the latter things are such a wonderful and huge part of me but I think it’s also important not to lose sight of what makes you tick as a person.

Pretty earrings.

For all my dry shampoo lovers out there, have you seen the new option of dry shampoo foam? I’ve seen a few brands rolling out new versions of it. I wonder if it will work as well (or better than?) traditional dry shampoo aerosol spray?

I keep this easy to use sanitizer spray in my car and also my diaper bag and try to spray mine and my kids’ hands often with it when we are out! It’s organic and I love that is smells like lavender.

My favorite homemade iced vanilla latte!

Do you have any plans for the weekend? My husband is heading out of town but my parents are coming to visit so I’m sure we’ll spend lots of time in the pool since it’s still 90+ degrees here!

I love that everyone’s been posting about raincoats lately! It’s been raining like crazy here in Hong Kong, so I definitely want to get a new one. Preferably one in a bright, cheery colour! 🙂

I love the red raincoat! The color looks so pretty, and you rock a red lip!

Love the jacket! Deciding on a size for myself. What size are you in? Are you using it as an open jacket or can you zip it? TIA!

I’m in a medium and there is plenty of room to zip. I could probably have gone down to a small!

Curious about the dry shampoo. Hoping Kate will post an article on dry shampoo someday – especially for super fine, thin hair. Most of the aerosol sprays just weigh my hair down. I love the Oscar Blandi dry shampoo. It’s a powder and adds body to my hair unlike the sprays, but unfortunately has been discontinued. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :-).

Sadie, I also have super fine, thin hair and have tried dozens of dry shampoos from salons and drug stores, etc. Believe it or not, the best one I’ve tried and continue to buy is Suave. Seriously, try it.

Lush also makes a powder dry shampoo that I really like. You can order it online if you don’t have a store near you, and it comes in different sizes if you want to try it out.

I second the No Drought dry shampoo by Lush. It has a light and clean scent to it. I sprinkle it on, distribute with my fingers, let it sit a few minutes, then brush through.

I tried the Oaui foam dry shampoo…. ugh. It did not work on my hair. The foam just seemed to make it more greasy and it never really dried down like it claimed it would. I think I’ll stick to my aerosol .

I had the same experience! It smelled great but did not absorb any oil and my hair looked dirtier than it did to begin with! I love the Oaui hair oil but this did not work for me at all. I ended up returning and getting my good aerosol dry shampoo instead.

Are you aware of any cleaner dry shampoos? I’ve tried so many different brands and found quite a few that are really effective but it seems like they ALL contain either butane or propane (including the one linked in this post). I need a good dry shampoo but hate the idea of spraying that junk on my head! I’m in the 3 kids 5 and under boat and aint NO way this hair is getting washed more than twice a week…

According to the website, Lush’s dry shampoo contains Corn Starch (Zea Mays) Magnesium Carbonate Talc Fragrance Grapefruit Oil (Citrus Paradisi) Lime Oil (Citrus Aurantifolia) *Citral *Geraniol *Limonene *Linalool. It’s a powder instead of a spray or foam.

I have used the dry shampoo foam – not a fan. Give me the stuff in the can. It just doesn’t clean/remove the oily texture like the spray does for me.

I agree on the Suave! I have super fine hair, and was surprised by Suave. I find spraying it on my hair and then blow drying helps, too.

Ouai makes an amazing dry shampoo foam! Dry Bar makes one too, but its not as good. I love Ouai’s more than any aerosol & powder I’ve tried!

I’m excited by the idea of foaminess in a dry shampoo but hope it won’t weigh down my fine hair. Hoping to have my oldest’s birthday party this weekend. We had to reschedule it due to hand-foot-and-mouth disease hitting my household HARD last week.
