June Beauty Favorites from IGTV
How to explain your hair color/cut goals to your stylist
I opted to post my favorites video over on the new IGTV If you want to watch it, click here! I’ll get back to putting them on YouTube next month, but in the interest of time as well as trying out this new platform I wanted to do it on that channel.
For those who aren’t on Instagram, I typed out my thoughts on these products for you!
If you aren’t using a silk pillowcase to protect your hair while you sleep, you should start immediately. It makes an enormous difference in how my hair looks on day 2 versus when I sleep without one. In fact, I’m so loyal to it I travel with one sometimes. When I saw that the same brand started making scrunchies, I had to get one. I wear my hair in a high ponytail on top of my head to sleep and the scrunchie keeps my hair up, without pressing a strong crease into it.
I loved the Bust your Brass Shampoo and Conditioner by AMIKA. It definitely cut some warmth and yellow tone but also made my hair feel clean yet hydrated.
I mentioned the new Lancome Lacquer on my Instagram Stories a few weeks ago and highly recommend them. It’s a gloss type application that wears like a stain. And man they last long. I love the bright pinks, but they also have a good amount of other shades to try as well. They are super easy to wear and the kind of lip product you don’t even need a mirror for.
I’ve been wearing Essie’s Gel Couture on my nails recently and have been loving the colors “The It Factor”, “Style Stunner”, and “Matter of Fiction”.
Several times a week I’m wearing NARS Afterglow lip balm. It’s so hydrating and the most gentle pink shade. I’ve also still been loving Nudestix Gel Lip + Cheek color in Rebel. Such a fun pink for summer, and wears really nicely too.
The Hot Tools flat iron has gotten a lot of use lately, especially since I’m able to adjust the heat temperature on it. I’ve turned it down to about 370/390 to get smooth, straight hair without using excess heat. If you have challenging hair to get straight, invest in a flat iron like this one. If you just need a little smoothness or bend from the iron, Hot Tools is a great price and will get the job done beautifully.
I’ve been using L’Oreal Lash Paradise mascara to add thickness to my lashes and it’s worked like a charm. It doesn’t necessarily add a lot of length or curl for me, but it definitely adds volume and fullness. I wear it on top of two coats of Benefit Roller Lash!
I love Bite’s Agave Lip Treatment, I wear it every single night when I go to bed. I tried fresh Sugar Peach Hydrating Balm recently and like the peach smell! I wish it was stronger, but in general I found it to be really hydrating! There is a caramel version available now!
I was so exited to try this new razor but it left much to be desired. It didn’t give me as close of a shave as I get with my mens Gillette razor, so I’ll use it up a bit then toss it.
What do you think of the IGTV feature? Have you been watching videos on it? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Thank you for typing out this post! IGTV is still something I’m not used to (Call me old, but I don’t like watching videos on my phone, the screen’s too small…) so this is great! 😀

That agave lip treatment sounds nice! I have been loving Sunday Riley’s CEO Vitamin C moisturizer and serum- and I just ran out! ;

I love the Silk slip pillow case, it has made such a difference to my skin and hair! I will have to try the scrunchies once my hair grows out a little. Thanks for the recommendations! xAllie

I enjoyed the IGTV format. I hope you will continue to use it! I like your picks, will definitely be checking out the Lancome lip product on my next Sephora run!
Love your blog/page Kate! I ran to Ulta right away to get that Lancome Lacquer – had a tough time deciding on a color that would be great for everyday but the staff helped me. However I don’t feel like it stays on near as long as I had hoped, but it could be the color wasn’t deep enough to notice. It feels great going on though, so much nicer than another brand that requires a separate color and gloss.
Also talk to us about your love of the men’s gillette razor! I may have to try that!
Love the idea of a silk pillowcase, but the one you recommended is WAY out of my price range. Any chance you know of any others that work similar but a tad more affordable? That would be great!
I found that Amazon has a ton of 100% silk pillow cases for $20-$40! The silk hair scrunchies too!
Wow, I was so excited about a silk pillowcase until I saw the 90-100 dollar price tag after shipping. I guess my hair will never look that good. Gotta choose between kids college fund and pillowcase!
I think I’m one of the odd ones out…I prefer youtube because I don’t use Instagram and usually watch on my laptop. The video is small and the sound is weird. And when I tried to type this exact comment, I clicked to post it and it said the link was broken. Wouldn’t post the comment and then took me back to the beginning of the video with no way to fast forward to where I left off. I will watch either place because I love your videos, but I MUCH prefer youtube.
I went out and bought the L’Oreal Lash Paradise mascara, and I have to admit, I don’t love it. I find it really gloppy and messy, and I have to spend time combing out my lashes after applying. I will return it to Target this week. Think that I am going to have to return to my Make Up Forever Excessive Lash Mascara. I like the brush much better, can even get my lower lashes with it, and it stays on all day!
I recently ordered from Rose’s Razors and I have to tell you I Love it! Just a thought since your one razor didn’t seem to do it for you.
