I got into makeup at a young age, but it’s always been an artistic and creative outlet for me. There have been seasons where I felt more reliant on it than others, but I can say with confidence that the older I’m getting, the more I’m embracing my makeup–free, or very minimal makeup, face!
One of the nicest compliments I’ve received lately is how good my skin looks when I’m not wearing foundation, and specifically how cute my freckles are! The sun always brings out my freckles, so after a family trip down south a few weeks ago, my freckles are standing out quite a bit more than normal.
I really like my freckles, so it was nice to hear that someone else was inspired that I embrace them instead of trying to hide them. In case you need that reminder for yourself today, embrace your freckles!
I was excited to try out some products from Kopari Beauty, which all contain100% natural coconut oil. Koparidoes their best to keep their products as natural as possible without compromising on performance! As the natural and “green” beauty market is expanding, I’ve enjoyed trying out skincare products that align with that goal!
I’m very picky about face cream and was pleasantly surprised when this creamwas hydrating but didn’t leave any kind of shine behind. Sometimes when you hear the word “oil,” you expect products to look or feel greasy on the skin. That is not the case at all!
I also really liked the Coconut Rose Toner as a refresher. These are great products to use in the summer when my makeup has melted from the heat and humidity, but I want a refresh without caking on another layer of foundation.
After browsing the Kopari website, I’m tempted by the Coconut Power Couple, which is a body scrub and balm to soften and hydrate your skin. You can also try all 4 of the products shown in the photo above by picking up the Coconut Skincare Essentials Starter Kit!
I love that you embrace minimal or no makeup! I hope to gain that confidence!
That being said, are there any areas you feel really self conscious about if you don’t enhance them with makeup? My over plucked and misshaped brows are mine…didn’t know if you had similar insecurities when you’re not as done up.
Thanks for sharing a fresh face, it’s really (sorry all, I don’t have another word for it) refreshing (uggggggg so sorry!)
haha, I laughed at your comment. I definitely wish I had more brow hairs but on days I’m keeping my makeup very, VERY light I sort of just own the fact that “this is my face”!
I’ve seen these in Sephora recently and been really curious about them. They sound really great! I love that they have such simple ingredients and your skin looks great with them on! Thanks for sharing, xAllie http://www.theallthatglittersblog.com
Hey Kate,
I’ve been following you for years and love how your blog has evolved. I also have lots of freckles and love to see someone else embracing theirs. One question I have is. Have you ever done a video on eyebrows? I get mine waxed a few times a year and maintain inbetween but I’m awful at filling them in. Pencil looks too drawn on and pressed powder looks too messy. Your brows alway look good. Can you give suggestions on filling them in? And products that seem to work best, especially for light hair/ redheads with nonexistent brows?
Love this! I love my freckles, too, and ironically have been “experimenting” going ALMOST make-up free for the past week. I still “need” mascara and add just a touch of color to my brows. So much faster in the AM! 🙂
Hey Kate! Love what you’ve got going on in this post. I’m a huge advocate for minimal makeup, especially for letting my skin breathe. That being said, I’m always looking for information regarding great undereye concealers that cover dark circles but also blend out well on skin instead of foundation. If you have any tips, can you please do a post about it?
How timely – just saw this brand pop up in my search for aluminum-free deodorant. Did you get to trial that product? Any thoughts on using natural deodorant?
I’m curious about this brand, but hesitant because I’ve found any face products with coconut oil (especially oil cleansers) breaks me out terribly! It can be highly comedogenic for some people. Did you have any issue with that?
I put coconut oil in my hair when its wet it leaves it so shiney and soft. I also use it on my hands and body after a shower. I also put coconut oil in my dogs food it makes his fur shiney and not dull. I think everyone should give it a try you will be amazed at the results.
I live the minimal makeup look, and you look so beautiful in the pictures! I have freckles, too, and would love to embrace the minimal or no makeup look, but have dark under eye circles. Are you wearing any under-eye concealer in your photos? Do you have any suggestions as to products that would cover up dark circles but not look too heavy? Any suggestions as to techniques to apply concealer so that I can go without makeup on the rest of my face? Thanks!
I love freckles! I have TONS, and my grandmother always told me that they were “angel kisses.” I think she was worried I would get teased about them (and I did, some), but she gave me such confidence in them that I was always able to brush it off. Glad to see you giving a reminder to embrace them!
Hi Kate! I have followed your blog since 2012 and have really enjoyed it! You have such great hair and beauty tips!
Just wondering…what color of nail polish are you wearing in the Kopari coconut face cream post? It’s very nice!
Hi Kate! I’ve been following you for years and I love all your posts! I especially love this one about natural skin – however my face is really red. I love my freckles but always seem to end up covering them when I’m trying to cover up the redness. Do you have any tips to reducing redness/a little coverup but still being able to see my freckles? Thanks!

If I had that face, I’d be owning it too! I want to check out those products for sure, as I’d love to go lighter on makeup for the summer months!

What did you use for the background in the flay lay picture?! I love it, so cute!
You’re gorgeous!
Which tanner has given your skin that summer glow?
Do these products have a strong coconut scent?
No, not at all!
You look great

I’ve gotten a lot of requests for that so I will so that soon!

Are there any eye creams for dry and anti wrinkle, crows feet you recommend?
