4 styles of denim to wear this fall

What are Mario and Luigi’s favorite kind of pants to wear?

Denim Denim Denim.

Oh my gosh did I just start a blog post out with a JOKE? And a BAD ONE?

Jeans had a little bit of a heyday recently. Stair step hems, extreme distressing, large cropped flares. It just got a little crazy. All the power to you if you love those trends, I’m just way too simple with my taste in jeans to go there!

So if you, like me, prefer to keep only a small handful of more “classic” styles of jeans in your closet that are still on trend, here are 4 of my favorites for this fall and winter.

First up is black distressed denim. It’s slightly more edgy than classic blue jeans, but isn’t necessarily the focus of your outfit. The distressing keeps them casual, but I’d also say that a great pair of non-distressed black jeans would go a long way all fall and winter long.

A pair of raw hem jeans is the perfect option for ankle booties. It seems that the raw hem jeans tend to run a bit short, even on me which means they are pretty darn short, so I made my own. Distressed or not, these taper nicely at the ankle and are easy to wear.

Either a boyfriend jean or a casual distressed jean like these is also a fall staple for me. I do a lot of running around, so throwing these on with slip on sneakers is what I’m most likely wearing during the week!

And finally, you can’t beat a plain and simple pair of jeans in a classic wash. This is about as light as I like to go in denim, it feels casual but still looks like a pulled together look. These jeans are my absolute favorite and I’ve worn them more times than I can count this summer. I’m sure they’ll be my go-to all fall and winter long!

I haven’t tried the raw hem look yet but I’m going to. Love that you made yours yourself!

I’ve been thinking about getting a pair of medium wash denim and also a pair of distressed, so this post was great! Also, just to let you know, when I clicked on the link for the shirt, it just brought me to the Gap homepage and not the one for the t-shirt itself. Love your blog!

I am very interested in buying the roadtripper jeans, on the website some people are recommending to buy a size DOWN, did you or are they true to size? Thanks!

I have been digging for your post about the camera you use for your blog. I am looking for a new one to document my kids, trips etc and I seem to remember you suggested a lightweight one with really clear pics. Can you steer me to where that is on your site? Thanks doll!

I am curious what size jeans you wear in the Roadtripper jeans? I am between sizes but think we look similar. TIA
