The item you need for a precise DIY manicure
A summer outdoor dinner: pizzas and dessert
Nail prep is one of the most important steps to a home manicure. If you don’t take the time to clean your nail beds and prep the surface for polish, you can be sure that you’ll get chips or the nail polish will begin to peel. But next to prep and choosing the right polish, lighting is key! If you can’t see how close you are getting to the cuticle, you won’t get a clean line along the edge of the nail.
I found this light at IKEA on a recent trip and it was purchased for the sole intention of using it when I polish my nails. And it’s perfect for that. The flexible neck means I can aim it wherever I need to and allows me to see every detail of the nail I’m polishing.
If you don’t have an IKEA near you, I found a similar one on Amazon! Curious about my favorite nail polish and manicure products? Click here!ย

Super handy, I can see this light being useful for bedside reading too!

Love that light! Ikea always has the most fun ideas. I’d love to get one for my daughter.

Where I usually sit to do my nails is in the shadows so I usually grab a lamp, but this would definitely work better!
Hi Kate, this is very helpful. Can you recommend a makeup mirror and bathroom light bulbs? The lighting in my bathroom is horrible and I thought a mirror/ magnifying mirror would help. I love the mirrors in Sephoria. ๐
Thanks
Do you have a post somewhere or tips on everything needed for a complete manicure at home? Supplies and directions?
I can’t paint my fingernails to save my life, but when I paint my toes I wear my camping headlamp. My old roommate loved to make fun of me but I think the joke’s on her! ๐
Thank you for the laugh! Funny juxtaposition of an outdoorsy girl with a camping light doing her own pedicure! Love it! ๐
Looks great!
This is so useful, I will have to try it out! Thanks for sharing <3
