5 Things to Do/Try/Buy with Jordan Maunder
Drugstore Finds
Jojo, as I like to call her, is not only my go-to photographer but she’s become a dear friend of mine as well. We have a similar dry sense of humor, so there’s usually a lot of laughter and sarcasm when the two of us are together.
She’s taught me a lot about photography and also many things about Star Wars (like what a padawan is). The biggest disappointment I have in our friendship is that she doesn’t eat sugar so I can’t bake delicious treats for her. That’s one of the ways I love people–through food.
Maybe one day she’ll eat sugar again, but until then let’s read her 5 things:
1. You must read Tiny Beautiful Things: Advice on Love and Life from Dear Sugar by Cheryl Strayed. You’ll find some of the most moving words ever written in these pages.
2. You must watch Interstellar (and have tissues on hand).
3. You must buy some coconut oil. You can cook sweet potatoes, remove your makeup, condition your hair, whiten your teeth, and smell like a cookie in one fell swoop.
4. You must try Benefit’s Gimme Brow. It’s so easy, fuss free, and makes the biggest difference in framing your face!
5. You must go on a long road trip by yourself. You’ll feel refreshed and centered after 6+ hours of driving, daydreaming, and belting out the Rent soundtrack.

Totally agree about the Rent soundtrack. And Justin would agree as well. He has a history of being in musicals. And when I say being in musicals I mean being the lead roll pretty much 100% of the time. He’s an anomaly to me sometimes.
Anyway, thanks for sharing your 5 Jojo! I own that book, I just need to find a minute in the day to read it!

YES to Cheryl Strayed’s TBT! I teach excerpts of that book every semester. It’s a stunning collection.
Thinking about driving with the windows down belting songs from the Rent soundtrack made me smile! It’s the perfect time of year for that too! I am also inspired to pull my coconut oil back out, somehow it got pushed to the back of my mind, and closet.
Tiny Beautiful Things is one of the most memorable books I’ve read in a long time. I recommend it to just about every girlfriend I have. I keep the book close by so when I am needing to hear some uplifting; real; honest words, I’ll flip it open for some inspiration.
Love these tips and I wholeheartedly agree about Benefit’s Gimme Brow! It’s a life changer!
Watched Interstellar the other day and it was amazing! Really intrigued to read Tiny Beautiful Things now! 🙂

YES to Interstellar! Watch it, then watch it again a couple days or weeks later. Such a visual spectacle, it takes a few viewings to really grab onto all the details.
Love this! I just checked out that book thinking if ordering it ASAP

RENT. Yes! That musical has a special place in my heart, because I worked with the director and some of the cast on a show between their workshop run and Broadway premiere. I would hear the RENT soundtrack (then unknown by the world) in the dressing room sometimes, because they were rehearsing. One of my best childhood memories!
With two boys now, you’ll know MORE than what a padawan is, whether you want to or not! 😉
Great suggestions. I’m a recent coconut oil convert, and smelling like a cookie brightens my mornings.
Love these ideas, and this post in general! 🙂 Thanks for sharing (also, randomly, it’s rare to find a girl named “Jordan”! That’s my sister’s name… as kids she used to get upset because all the monogrammed trinkets (toothbrushes, mugs, pencils) were all boy themed! 😛
Great suggestions!

Your amazing really inspiring!
Ahhhhh! RENT is hands down my FAVORITE musical of all time! With Tick, Tick, BOOM! coming in 2nd place. It is known to all my friends that if they get in my car they will be listening to showtunes, mostly RENT and Tick, Tick, BOOM!
These are GREAT suggestions!!!
I, too, have an engineer husband who has performed in many musicals. He sang both of our boys to sleep when they were younger- songs from Joseph and Guys and Dolls. Enjoy the gift.
I really like the green sweater she is wearing in the photo. Any idea of the brand?
