My Beauty Tip: With a Red Lip, Keep it Simple

next
The Clavicut
Products for this post were provided by Revlon. All opinions are my own.

Balancing a red lip, or any bold lip color, can be a challenge. Ideally you want to keep the eyes, and the rest of the makeup, simple so all the focus goes to the lip. Conversely, if you are wearing a dark, smoky eye the same idea applies: you want to keep the lips neutral.
My beauty tip when wearing a bold lip? Keep everything else simple. This applies to jewelry, makeup, wardrobe, etc. Your lips with “do the talking” so don’t let anything else that you are wearing take away from the impact!
I recently tried out a few products from Revlon and used some in the look I’m showing in the photo. My goal was to have the lips be the emphasis and keep the eyes relatively simple. My eyes get lost without at least a little bit of makeup, so I aimed for neutral browns and softer liner.
The Revlon ColorStay Whipped™ Crème Makeup foundation provides excellent coverage. If you are a full coverage kind of gal, this makeup is for you. It comes in a glass container and you can either use your fingers, a brush, or a sponge to get the product out. I’m wearing the shade 150 Buff. I set it with some translucent powder just to keep shine away.
I really liked the beige and brown colors in the Revlon ColorStay™ 16 Hour Eye Shadow Harmonious palette.  Keeping the eyes simple, I used the beige color on my brow bone and the brown color in my crease. And the staying power was impressive, as per usual with the Revlon ColorStay line. No creases or smudges. I did use my eye shadow primer, like usual, so that helps make sure the eye shadow will go nowhere!
When I’m looking for definition without too much darkness with my liner, I grab a grey one. I used the Revlon ColorStay™ Eye liner in charcoal liner along my lower lash line, and the black liner along my upper lash line. I love that these are waterproof so I don’t have to worry about them fading away during the day.
Finally, I finished the look with the Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede™ Lipstick in Finale. It looks a little pinker in the tube than it actually wears. I’ve found it to be quite red. This long wear lipstick doesn’t flake or dry out, and I like the moisturizing and soft formula. I chose a simple outfit of jeans and a white sweater to keep the rest of the “whole look” simple.

Love the eyeshadow here! I’m a very neutral kind of gal, so this is right up my alley! My favorite beauty trick, that I only use for special occasions, is to slightly heat my eyelash curler with the blow dryer before curling my lashes, gives my eyes a wide awake look!

After applying eyeliner on the lower lash line, use a concealer brush to add a thin line of powder below the eyeliner. This will keep it from traveling downward, it will stay put all day!

My favorite beauty secret is for highlighted hair. My stylist told me if I wanted to brighten my blonde before it was time to get them redone then all I needed to do was wash my hair with baking soda. IT WORKS!!! It made my hair look like it had just been done. It took out all of the gunk without stripping my hair. [email protected]

Instead of simply clamping my eyelashes in a curler, I hold them near the roots and tilt the curler back; it curls them away from your eye for a more wide-awake look. Thanks for the great giveaway!

My favorite beauty secret is for us fair skinned, fair haired girls. I love wearing black liner for definition, but lining my whole eye just looked overdone and slightly trashy to me. I discovered that wearing a black liner on top, but a soft brown underneath gave just the right amount of definition without looking overdone. LOVE it! [email protected]

I just learned how to repair broken powder compacts! I used to just throw the leftover edges out but – thank you pinterest – I know you can crush them and mix them with rubbing alcohol. Once you put them back into the compact and let it dry it’s like brand new! It’s also a fun way to mix old eyeshadow colors into a new unique hue that only you own!

My beauty secret is a little weird and may not work for everyone, but it works for me! I am quite messy when it comes to eyeshadow and mascara so I typically do that first and then apply my foundation after. That way, I can clean up any eye makeup messes and not have to redo my foundation.

I have 2 big game changers in the beauty area. The first is using eyeliner only on my lower lash line. My eyes look twice as big and way more alert since I stopped adding liner to the top. It also makes my lashes look longer because you can see the entire length better now. The other is Seche Vite fast drying top coat. It’s magic. My manicures last at least a week with regular nail polish and my polish is totally dry within 5 minutes.

You can make mascara last longer by putting 3 drops of contact solution in the tube when it gets to the clunky stuff at the end. My beauty tip is highlighting and contouring! I’m very fair with dark hair and dark eyes and it can be very easy for me to just look very flat and pale after I do my makeup, especially in the winter. But when I take an extra couple of minutes to highlight and contour (with the Mary Kay highlighting pen and a dark, matte bronzer), it makes a HUGE difference. It photographs extremely well too, which is great when you’re in a wedding as I’m going to be in January, the height of pale skin season!

I didn’t have any beauty tips that came to mind, but I saw your question and thought that I might be able to help! I had acne when I was younger, so covering it up is second nature to me. The thing that helped me was switching to a small brush for concealer application instead of my fingers. I use Maybelline’s dream mousse concealer. For some reason I find that the texture sticks better to my problem areas, and I like that it’s not a liquid. Also, I use my eyeshadow primer as an “acne primer” so that the concealer doesn’t fade throughout the day. Plus, it saves me from having to buy extra products, or try to stuff more into my makeup bag.

My favorite tip is for concealing under eye bags: apply concealer to the shadow under the bag ONLY to camouflage the bag. If you put concealer on the bag itself, it can make it more noticeable. ([email protected])

My beauty tip is to line your waterline with a nude kohl pencil. It really brightens your eyes and makes them look bigger. Another tip I love is for streaky white nail polish. Put a coat of any white nail polish, then a coat of a matte topcoat, and another coat of the white nail polish. It really makes them pop, isn’t streaky at all, and no it doesn’t make your nails matte, they will be very glossy! It really works with any light/cream nail color. Haven’t tried it with a darker color but it may work with those as well if they tend to leave your nails streaky! I love this trick!!

My tip is wash an old mascara or nail polish container and fill with: 1/4 of the container with Castor Oil, 1/2 Vitamin E Oil, 1/4 Aloe Vera Gel. Mix the concoction together with your mascara wand, and apply a light layer to lashes (or brows) every night before bed. Castor oil thickens your lashes while aloe vera gel lengthens. Vitamin E accelerates length. Give it a month for results.

Anything to excessive will cause cancer clearly. Everything is moderately. Honestly regardless of wherever you research something concerning any cosmetics there’s reaching to be a extremely exhausting cosmetic to search out that’s ALL NATURAL. if you’re unless creating it by yourself and you recognize that everything is safe then yea.. Parabens believe it or ought to be at very cheap of the list of any cosmetic unless if you created it solid product then it doesn’t want it. however seriously if you probably did obtain a product while not it in it then goes to spoil terribly quickly. Its funny too as a result of bread and blueberries have natural parabens inside them but…. not complains that do they.. additionally once a shampoo or shower gel says “sulfate free” and your product still bubbles after you use it sadly its not “sulfate free” the maximum amount because it is tough to believe that, thats is that the truth you’ll be able to look it up, its a scam that firms can do so that they won’t loose any customers. during this day in age everybody has to build cash so that they ar reaching to tell you this. I wont to work for lush and that i would ne’er Bachelor of Science my customers and that i would educate them as a result of they failed to apprehend. affirmative Lush will used salt, parabens, dyes, however they’re honest not like most firms. If you’re reaching to desire a colourful soap its reaching to have a color dye unless you purchase dial or irish spring however nobody needs to possess dry skin do they now? nobody needs to buy soap that doesnt have any color or charm thereto. within the finish it’s utterly up to you wherever you would like to travel and obtain your cosmetics. Lush has contemporary face masks that ar fantastic however they solely last three weeks therefore if you’re searching for nice aid product they’re there.

Also I had detected that I scan during a comment that had this piece of knowledge therefore I quoted it and that i can tell you why. “ALL volatile oil IS TERRIBLE FOR SENSITIVE SKIN for redness prone skin.” that’s not true. everybody had completely different desires for his or her skin, NOT EVERYTHING goes to figure for everybody. affirmative suggesting is extremely nice however there ar alternative calming ingredients that ar nice for sensitive skin however betting on what you’re sensitive TOO. currently this might be Tea tree, rose water, rose absolute, aloe vera, lavender etc.. however believe it or not rose, aloe vera, mineral ar acknowledged to calm the skin to scale back any redness. however like I aforementioned NOT each INGREDIENT goes to react an equivalent to everybody. If you’re unsure what your skin is sensitive to then attend an expert. If you dont have the financial gain try and puzzle out what’s creating your skin react. this might be a daily moisturizer, even makeup etc.. however seriously everything is trial and error. you’ll be able to look on-line and see that somebody failed to sort of a product however you needed to undertake it out, however dont blow over what they aforementioned attempt it out and see however you prefer finish of story. Samples ar nice however they dont provide you with the complete impact. If something if you have got the cash for the merchandise decease and if you dont am fond of it once a few of weeks come it. simply make certain you have got your receipt and you recognize the businesses come policy.
