Grey and Simple Jewels
“Hey!” and “See ya!” + some beautiful earrings
27 weeks pregnant
sweater: Gap Maternity
jeans: Hudson Maternity
shoes: Alfani via TJ Maxx (old)
bag: Target, Philip Lim
necklace: Lisa Leonard
earrings: Purchased by my husband on our honeymoon
hairstyle: The Mid Knot
These outfit pictures were overwhelmingly fusterating to get.
My camera was focusing on the wall behind me so 75% of them were blurry disasters. In fact, I did absolutely nothing to the first photo except resize and lighten it up a bit, but the blurriness gave me an “airbrushed glow”. How tender.
And that ain’t a pregnancy glow people, that’s a blurry photo.
Anyway, I thought I’d share this outfit as an example of how I love color.

I know I know, I’m forever boring with my wardrobe. But here’s the thing: I like what I like and I love wearing grey. I actually look forward to wearing this sweater with brown boots once the weather cools down a bit!
As mentioned yesterday, I’m currently in Indianapolis at the Influence Conference. I speak on Saturday, which I’m really excited about, and am looking forward to meeting a bunch of people that I only know “online”.
I also looking forward to binging on the 4 BAGS of sour patch kids that my friend Carrie brought. And browsing the new collection of Better Life Bags (remember this bag?), my other roommate Rebecca’s company.
Heck, maybe I’ll even look for a colorful bag to balance out my perpetually bland outfits.
We’ll see.

You look Beautiful … you always do …. Classic Style !!
EnJoy your conference !! Hugs ~ Connie xox
Quick question (and I’m sure you are sick to death of these!) but is that your Urban Decay lipstick in this photograph? My sister received a sample of it in her last Ipsy Box and that lipstick is da real deal babes.
It is da real deal and yes, that’s Streak
Awesome colors very bright soft material & warm, and i also give a nice look… Perfect fit with great material fabric… http://www.apparelnbags.com/sport-tek/index.htm
Gorgeous!! Love that bag!!
Xo,
Sincerely Miss Ash
Love grey! Makes up a lot of my wardrobe too. Look at your cute bump! The sweater looks awesome on you.
I love grey! It is such a versatile color and goes with so many different color accessories. (In fact, I’m wearing a grey sweater right now.) I love the way you’ve done your hair. So pretty!
Tutorial on how you did your hair in this!! Please!!
She posted the link right below the photos – it’s called “Mid Knot.”
Thanks Chelsea!
You’re wardrobe is not at all boring! I love grey. It’s such a great neutral. My closet is full of it. My closet pretty much consists of white, grey, navy blue, black with just a splash of kelly green and deep blues. I kept trying to “add color” too, but then I decided naw. I’m with you. I like what I like and I’m sticking with it.
You’re beautiful. I love your outfit. I hope you have a blast at the conference!
You look gorgeous!
You are absolutely radiant in that color, especially with your baby bump! Not boring in the least!

Grey is awesome! Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. I wear a white t-shirt or tank top almost ever day of the summer, so I feel like grey is just my warmer version of white for the fall and winter. I love the way grey sweater, jeans, and brown boots look!
I’ve always been told to wear more color, and you give me the strength I need to say “No. I like black, grey and brown — and they look good on me!” Well. I won’t say it, because that’d be odd, but I will totally wear them with pride. I doubt anyone but my mother, desperate to not have her kid turn into a punkygothhooligan (I spiked my hair for a year in high school and 10 years later still have to convince my mother that it was a phase I went through), would even notice the lack of color in a wardrobe — especially if worn as well and confidently as you do! I’m sure I just did terrible things to sentences in this comment, but I’m going to let it go…
Beautiful, simple combo 🙂
I have a super cheap grey t-shirt from American Eagle and every time I do my laundry it is the first thing I wear. Then I get all sad because I have to wear other things until I do laundry again. Grey is just… nice!
I love grey sweaters, the color looks wonderful with blonde hair :)! Great bag by the way!

I love the outfit!! Just thinking…I have the perfect scarf to add to it — yellow with grey polka dots (from Target of course) — if you want that “pop of color”!!! Enjoy the conference, and hopefully Baby B will take a nap while you’re speaking!
You look ADORABLE! X0

Cute!! That’s funny, the second I saw the first photo I thought “airbrushed!!!” Lol glad you explained 😉
So I was sitting in a frozen yogurt place earlier this afternoon with my kiddos and these 4 pretty ladies walked in and I almost had a heart attack. (I live in Indy) When I glanced, I noticed a pretty blonde lady who was mid pregnancy and for a second I almost yelled Kate?! I so glad I didn’t, because upon further notice I realized it was not you. But, my gut told me those ladies were there for the Influence Conference.
I love that necklace! It would really go with anything, while adding an elegant edge! Good choice!

I LOVE gray as well, and always feel cozy and wonderful wearing it. Color is overrated, don’t apologize!
Your necklace and earrings are so delicate & cute!

Ha ha – too funny. You look great in gray so no worries! Your lipstick gives you a pretty pop of color. I love wearing colors – but I need them as neutrals tend to make me look washed out.
It’s not bland, it’s classic! You have so many great pieces that add pops of coral, turquoise, lots of fun. But some days just call for a simple sweater and jeans. Rock that poppy purse with it 🙂 you look adorable-love watching your bump grow! Also, I tried the half ballerina bun today and loved it. That bobby pin tip (bumps down) has been a game changer! They used to always slip out of my hair. I ran mid-day today and instead of pulling my hair into a ponytail I left it and the bobbies stayed in for a four mile run!
i got that same sweater in the navy and I love it! I am definitely going to grab the grey one : )
Welcome to Indy!!!! I hope you’re enjoying your time! Perfect weather for this outfit! Love it!
There is nothing better than a great sweater and a pair of jeans. And even though I love colorful clothes for myself, its fun to go neutral and find a fun way to add a pop of color like you did with your lipstick.

Hi Kate,
I’ve been following your blog for a while now so I know how much you love cats…and great Etsy finds! Not sure if they are your style, but I just happened upon these earrings while putting together my Christmas list for my boyfriend and thought I’d share with you. http://www.etsy.com/listing/159627183/rose-gold-cat-earrings-with-clear?ref=related-1
So classy!
I think you look amazing! Idk what it is about grey but it’s one of my favorites! It seems like it would be boring but I’ve come to realize how it’s just the opposite! And you can pair so much with grey! I especially love grey and pink, and grey and teal also. But it’s such a soft, feminine color. I personally love it! And I love your necklace! 🙂
very great necklace and hair!
Welcome to Indianapolis from another Bryan!
If you ever want a quick tutorial on how to manually select your focal point for your particular camera model let me know! (I’m a DSLR instructor.) That way you select where your camera will focus for every shot; this is going to save you a TON of time and frustration! It’s essential to any photographer, but SUPER essential to anyone taking self portraits!
YES I WANT TO KNOW. please email me!
You look stunning!!

I’m with you on grey, I LOVE it. And luckily it’s really big this season. Love your necklace too though.
I admire those of you who can mix grays with browns, black with browns, etc. I was taught that “brown” and “black” (or grey tones) don’t go together. Kate, can you do a “tutorial” or show pics sometime on how to mix these neutrals? I just feel like if I put it together myself, I’m doing all wrong!
I absolutely love this purse and outfit! I hope I look this cute when I’m pregnant! 🙂
So classy! n wonderful <3
