Happy 4th of July!

Just a quick hello today, and wishing you a Happy 4th of July if you are in America!
If you aren’t, happy thursday!
My plan today is to cheeeee-al. That’s “chill” just held out really long for impact.
Did I ever tell you about the time that my siblings and I wreaked havoc in our parents’ lake house neighborhood and blew off bottle rocks in other peoples’ mailboxes?
What were we thinking? Idiots. Teenage idiots.
We also blew off a 1/2 stick of dynamite in the middle of a golf course at about 11:30pm.
It’s a wonder we didn’t get kicked out of this place.
This year, my brother and Justin are in charge of the fireworks (not in mailboxes). We like to shoot them off from the end of our pier. Occasionally we’ll aim them into the water and watch them explode underneath.
Idiots. 20/30-something idiots.
It should be a BLAST <—see what I did there.
Okay, Happy 4th! Enjoy your day off!

I live in a fishing community in Maine so everyone goes and shoot off fireworks off of their lobster boats. It’s a lot of fun. We do get the few that place them in the mailboxes 😉
This year I have a 10 week old, so I’m not sure how he will do with the noise. I’ll report back!

I’m an ex-pat, for the time being, and I kind of miss all the 4th festivities :/ I just did my own 4th of July post here:

On an unrelated note, I LOVE the (new?) logo for the Small Things Blog, especially the bobby pin! I learned last year from one of your videos that I’d been wearing them upside-down all my life. Who knew?! 🙂
I also have been wearing them upside down! What was I thinking?!
Meredith – I was an expat for two years, and I know how hard it is being away on the 4th. A special happy 4th to all those Americans outside of the US!!
Meredith – I learned that I’ve been wearing them wrong all along too! I have them inserted correctly today, thanks to kate’s blog!
Isn’t it funny the stuff we did as kids that would seriously piss me off now if some kid did it to me?! AND, we might possibly still be a touch irresponsible with fireworks now as well (in the safety of our own yard, of course!)
Happy 4th of July to you!! I can’t count the times I look back on my teenage years and think “what the *bleep* were you thinking!” Oh well, it felt right at the time!!!!

Happy Fourth!
Just catching up on yesterday’s post and I have to ask, where did you get a stick of dynamite as a teenager??
Tell me you are not on Lake Sinnissippi! I had to work today and it’s a good thing I could sleep through all those fireworks last night. Hope you had a good 4th!
