Panesonic Lumix G-5 Review (and a Giveaway!)

I am loving how much it does and how light wight and easy it looks to hold and carry!!!

Love the pics, awesome quality!

I am loving the idea of a having a high quality camera but light enough in weight that I can carry it in my purse for those random moments that I need to capture.

I like the feature that blurs out the background–would love a new camera!

I can feel the joy of having a smaller camera. My favorite feature would be the
size of the G-5. My big girl camera is just large and bulky.

I desparately need this camera! I am missing so many adorable moments with my 2 little girls wih only my silly iPhone camera. With it being so lightweight, I could easily add it to the diaper bag without killing my shoulder!

Sounds like I would love everything about this camara. But the fact that I wouldn’t have to feel like a goof everytime I tried to switch from the screen to the viewfinder would be awesome. I’m always that person that tries to look through the viewfinder when it’s not switched to that setting!

I like the touch control interface feature and the fact that it can produce high quality video,, with two grandkids thats very important.

I don’t want to enter because I rarely use my camera that I bought last year because I always use my smart phone, but where did you get your sweater?! I love it!

I love that it will recommend a filter based on what the scene is, and that it takes HD video as well. This would be a great camera for this mama of two adorable little boys! 🙂

Honestly, I would love the automatic switch from viewfinder to screen. I am currently using an old Sony Cybershot, and it has a button you have to push to switch from viewfinder to screen, and I always forget to push it! That simple convenience of the automatic switch would make a huge difference to me, as I like to switch back and forth quite a bit. Also, the 14 creative filters sounds like they would be fun to play with!

I’ve just spent the last 20 minutes looking at this camera online! I love it. I’ve been wanting a new camera and doing my research for the past six months, and I hadn’t come across the Panasonic Lumix G-5! I love that it is beginner-friendly (I am not a photog either, but I want the best pictures possible), and that it has HD video. Thanks for hosting the giveaway, Kate!

While the concept of having small, compact, lenses has been quite appealing to me (who doesn’t want a 400mm equivalent lens smaller than a coffee mug!)This would be wonderful to have, esp. with our new addition making his arrival in March. 🙂

I love that it sounds like anyone can use it! I recently bought a Canon DSLR camera and spent A LOT of money on it. I tried it out at my friends wedding recently and the pictures were just OK. I played with numerous settings and only got decent pictures in B&W mode. It made me very sad because they weren’t happy with the professional photog they hired which means they were really looking forward to using some of their guests pictures. Sounds like I bought the wrong camera! 🙁

I love the advantage of contrast auto focusing, because I have 2 young boys at home. It is REALLY hard to get them to sit still to take their picture, so I take many of them on the move:) Thanks for the chance to win this camera.

I love the fact that it is compact and takes amazing photos. A few years ago I dove in and purchased a Nikon D3000 with a few lenses and thought I would take these amazing photographs. They aren’t bad but I really love the ease in which you can switch things up and the compact size of the Panasonic. I do love my big camera but sometimes you just need/want to take a smaller one that can take really nice pictures.

I’m LOVING all the cool filter features it has before you take the shot… just wow!! I’m not big on editing, and would love one of these for our new baby coming in February!! <3 I checked out the site for it, I love the view finder and how it pops out and can be moved! so convenient!! 🙂

I love the quick focus… then I won’t miss the special moments of my girls

My favorite feature is that it is capable of catching memories. Which I realize is true of all camera, but the crispness of the photos posted using this camera are incredible- no guessing what’s going on in the picture. My husband recently lost ours on a hike and I am dying for a new one to capture more memories of our 2 year old and 9 month old.

I have to say that the view finder with eye sensor is pretty cool. I also like that it has about 75 minutes of recordable time

My camera was stolen when our home was broken into, so I’d love a new camera!! I love the size and the filter options. Love to learn about it.

Since I am a photography novice, I like that there is a minimal amount of manual adjustment needed but the photos still come out looking great!

I am a fan of Panesinic lumix for a very long time. Currently I own a Panesonic Lumix GF series camera, my favorite features of lumix camera including the pin point feature, the sleek of the camera design, smooth operation and mostly the selection of different mode.

My daughter is asking Santa for a “good camera” this year. This one, I think we could share! I would love a smaller, more easily portable camera.

My favorite feature is the size. I have a bigger DSL camera but I am always reluctant to take it hiking or on other outdoor trips. This would be perfect!

Having an interchangable lenge option is huge. My Canon doesn’t have that and it bums me out. Also, the option to add a professional flash on the shoe is a big plus.

The size is nice. It’s sometimes inconvenient to carry around my DSLR. I love the external flash option as well as a touch screen lcd and the fact that it rotates!

Not only is the size great, but the touchscreen is something that I think I would enjoy. Even though it’s become the norm in technology, it’s been slower to infiltrate the camera market.

I’ve never tried a panasonic camera. The camera I have now I’ve had for a few years and i would love to upgrade! I love photography and I think this camera would def. help my follow my love for photography even more so. I love that its touch screen, it has all those filters to choose from, and I LOVE the movable screen! I’m crossing my fingers!

The quality of the pictures is incredible! I would love to experience and capture my world with this camera!

I love having an interchangeable lens. My current camera doesn’t have that. I also love the filter options.

I have been debating on upgrading my camera and trying to decide on the perfect one. The weight of the camera is a huge plus! If it is too heavy I will not lug it around and then why have it??

Well, considering all I have is a point and shoot Nikon, it would be a HUGE step for this family to get a camera that would self-adjust correctly or that I could adjust manually to any and all conditions/situations. I love that it has the great features of a huge professional camera, but it is in a compact, high performance camera that would make me feel professional :-). I have to admit that the filters are probably my favorite feature. This saves so much time when trying to customize the prints. Thanks for introducing this camera to me!

The touchscreen LCD display is awesome to have, makes the usage so much easier as well as the LCD screen ability to angle the display. SO much easier for a shorter girl to shoot higher objects.:)

I have been wanting an upgrade to my little point and shoot Canon for sometime now, and the Lumix G5 seems like the perfect one! As a photographer myself, I am impressed by the built-in processing of this camera! The colors are vivid and the bw is impressive in its detailing! Wow, I never would have even considered this camera before seeing these pictures. I am personally a fan of the bw of (I’m assuming) your husband doing some studying–the contrast is there, but so are the little details. Great review!

This would a perfect camera for those trips out. It could reside in my purse because it is a bit smaller than my other one, which can feel like a beast. I love so many things about it. Quick recovery after each photo is important and definitely a favorite feature…If you take a photo where there is alot of action such as a football game or concert, etc…you don’t want to miss a shot because your camera is not ready to take the next photo.

My favorite part of the camera is the good quality pictures and the fast shutter speed. It is hard to take pictures of my daughter because she moves around so much. This camera would capture all of her cute poses and expressions without the blur that I currently get.

I like that it is so lightweight- I hate to weigh down my purse!

I LOVE the size. We have a large Nikon camera and NEVER take pictures anymore cause I can’t carry around this big bulky camera AND a 1 year old and carry my 3 year old daughters things that are “too heavy” for her… I need something that will fit in my purse, diaper bag or possibly a coat pocket!

Also I love the quality of the pictures!! My previous “pocket” camera took lousy pictures and as soon as I had my daughter I stopped using it cause my pictures were grainy.

I don’t know if this posted the first time, but lets try it again.

I have a large bulky nikon, it take great pictures but it is FAR to large to take with to the zoo, park or anywhere. I love the size of the Panasonic! It’s easy to put in my purse, diaper bag and coat pocket.

Also I love the quality of the photos! My old “pocket” camera took very grainy photos and I stopped using it when my daughter was born because I couldn’t take good looking photos with that old (and horrible) camera!

I used an older model of the Panasonic Lumix when I started my blog and still use the camera as a backup and for traveling. Especially great in low light and for scenery. I can only imagine that the new model is even better!

The filters are really cool, but what stands out to me is that this quality camera has such a small, compact design! This would be a great camera to carry around–perfect for those unplanned, ‘picture perfect’ moments.

I love the variety of filters and modes! Each pic looks like you did more to it than snap a photo. I think nowadays with smartphones and apps like Instagram and the like making photos look so chic in such a simple manner than these features are so important to keep up.

I love the lightness of the camera! I’m a beginning photographer (emphasis on the beginning part!) And I take my photos with a rather clunky Cannon AE-1. I’ve contemplated going digital before, but I was always so upset when I found out you couldn’t switch out the lenses, but with this camera you can!! And, when you buy a camera with all the bells and whistles, it usually weighs a ton!!

I like the idea of having a small lightweight camera that takes good quality photos.

I love the size of the camera. It takes great pictures but is a good size that it can be taken when traveling.

My favorite feature is having a viewfinder. When I try to take photos outdoors in bright light, I have such a hard time even seeing what is on the screen. A viewfinder would eliminate that issue.

Love how compact it is. It’s been a while since I’ve traveled with a camera instead of clicking away with my phone, but it’d be great to have something that bridges the gap between my phone and a bulky professional camera.

I love how it is light and small. Part of the reason I do not own an actual camera is because the camera on my phone is so much more convienient (however it definitely lacks in quality of pictures).

I love that it has a beginner friendly scene guide, and that it also captures video! The filters are a huge bonus as well.

I would love to have new camera! Mine just crapped out and I can’t afford a new one at this moment. I love how light it is! My old one was heavy and hard for my little hands to hold.

Thank you so much for this giveaway! I have been looking for a really nice camera that is easier to carry around on a daily basis and I’ve had my eye on the Panasonics. So, I guess I would have to say that my favorite features are the quality and the small size.

I have 2 favorite things about this Panasonic camera. The first is that it is small enough to carry around. I already lug a big purse and heavy diaper bag, the last thing I need is an additional big bag for a big camera. The second thing is that even though it’s a pretty small camera, it actually takes incredible pictures! Most smaller cameras (mine included!) take poor quality photos and since the lens is slow, I often miss the perfect shot!

I love the clarity of the close up pictures … the nail polishes and kitties!! The foreground is super clear, and the contrast of the faded/fuzzy background looks amazing, not all cameras do that well.

I love that its a great camera but its not HUGE.

I like the size and that is has advanced options but it is not as big as a DSLR.

I am ready to graduate from a point and shoot to a “big kid” camera. I just lost my past camera (I think it was thrown away in the wrapping at a wedding shower) and I am a hopeless mess without it. I like the looks, the size and the ability to take beautiful shots without many adjustments. The Lumix GF is on my holiday list!

I was very surprised at the pictures that you posted, untouched. I love the fact that the camera almost “teaches” you how to use it. It gives you examples of what you want you pictures to look at and you push a button. Very nice if you are learning about taking professional-like pictures!

I really like flip out lcd screen, not every camera has that.

The 14 filter effects are interesting…but the auto transition from screen to viewfinder is a unique and intriguing feature that I’d like to use.

I love that they are making more cameras that are compact like a point and shoot but with the same quality as a SLR. Traditional SLRs are bulky and these are a great hybrid option.

I think my favorite feature would probably be the filters, and second would be that it’s compact yet still a nice step up from just a regular point and shoot.

I like that it is smaller than a DSL. The filters are also a great feature!

When I look at the photo’s the bloggers have presented they make the storie they tell come to life. They look amazing and I wan’t to be able to do that, I wan’t to take photos like that. That filter opt is awesome. Black and white photos wow that is really cool.

I have long been a fan of Panasonic cameras. This new Lumix G5 looks amazing. The pictures taken with the various filters look incredible! The photos appear to have been taken by a creative and talented photographer. (There may be hope for me yet!)

The best aspects for me would be light weight and initial ease of use. I like to be able to manually control a camera, but I don’t want to have to learn all of the intricacies right out of the box. I will definitely check this camera out.

I love the wide range of Filter-options. It’s so diverse! But I also like the quick AF, because I find it so hard to capture moving objects in a still picture, and also get a good result. I’m always really focused on detail. And this camera realizes optimal detail in its photos!

Those photos are great! My point and shot is about 4-5 yrs. old and very big and clunky. I use photoshop to fix up the photos, but there is only so much you can do. The indoor photos are horrible. I would love to have some nice indoor shots someday! Love that it recommends a filter for you.

The size of the camera is perfect. This would be the icing on the cake. A very nice ending for 2012 and a much brighter beginning for the 2013 year.

The size of it is really what interests me. My husband is (at this point) an amateur photographer and I would love to get him a bigger camera than the one he has now. He needs a bigger camera for his bigger hands… not to mention, all the other amazing features.

I love that it has beginner friendly options! Also, it’s very sleek and compact which is great for carrying around in your purse. You never know when the perfect moment for a photo will happen!

As a macro photographer, the total MP a camera offers is one of the most important features. My current camera is 14MP, so this camera being Total pixels 18.31 Megapixels
Camera effective pixels 16.05 Megapixels would be a step up for me for sure!

There are two features I really like. The first is the wide variety of filters. I’m not a creative picture taker and I’d love to see if those filters would make my photos more interesting.
The second is the weight. I stopped using my big heavy pre-digital camera due to the weight. This looks wonderful.
