The Bland Bathroom Makeover Part II
High Five for Friday
Remember this photo of my bland bathroom?†
Well, I’ve made some great progress on the makeover. I chose this awesome shower curtain from Target that is full of pattern. Due to the way the bathroom is laid out, the shower curtain is parallel to the doorway. When you walk past the bathroom, you see the shower curtain. And I’m glad that it’s visible so I can enjoy it!
And since the Chip It! tool from Sherwin-Williams showed me which colors would work best, I decided to go with Overjoy for the walls!†
I think a yellow bathroom will be a lot of fun. And Overjoy is bright and light enough to really liven up the space.
I found a few other accessories that complement the colors in the shower curtain as well.
I love how that little white vase on the left mirrors the flower pattern on the shower curtain. And it’s delicate enough to sit amongst other bottles and vases on the sink without taking up too much space.
The light pink soap dispenser came from Target. I like that I can pull in a little bit of pink without it being too pink.
I love these containers for q-tips and cotton balls. These will sit on the sink as well, so guests can find them easily. There is nothing worse than staying at someone’s home and not being able to find little bathroom necessities like these. Leaving them visible–but contained–is a great way to decorate a countertop.†
I’ve also been inspired by this photo and am hoping to find some flowers and a similar vase.
For wall art, I’m hoping to find something simple, since the shower curtain is so busy. Maybe even a decal or a metal “piece” instead of art. I’ll have to see what I can find!†
Have you tested out the Chip It! button yet? †Drag the Chip It! button to your toolbar:
It’s so simple, and really helps you think outside the box with color options. You can watch a short video on how to use it here.
I can’t wait to show you the bathroom when it’s finished. I’m hoping for a fresh and bright room for my guests!†
For a chance to win a $1,000 Visa gift card and a $200 Sherwin-Williams gift card, tell me about an image that you’d like to “chip” (feel free to include a link to the image).

I love these colors! Thanks for introducing me to Chip it! I want to paint my whole house now! LOL
I’m so happy you blogged about this today – We close on our new house in less than 2 weeks and I’m having anxiety about paint colors/decorations. Almost everything in the house is beige, so I have a blank canvas to work with. Exciting, but overwhelming! Chip It will be such a useful tool for me!
I have chip-it, and love this image: http://letschipit.com/Chip/n9lyGS/
I’d like to chip this image. It has nice warm tones a a few brighter colors for a nice contrast.

I want to update our kitchen/dining room and would love to use “chip-it” to match the blue walls from a room of the house we always rent for our week at the beach. I would love to have a reminder of beach time in our home! We cherish our week at the beach!
We just bought a new house…. I will be chipping a lot!
I would love to chip this Paule Marrot painting: http://pinterest.com/pin/131589620332113848/
More so, if I owned it and could incorporate it too 🙂
We have been taking about how we need to freshen up our house this winter so we could really use it and the gift cards. I LOVE yellow~
I love very soft and most of the time neutral colors! I would love to chip this pictures and redo one of my bathrooms too!

Chip it is AWESOME! I will be using it as we remodel our master bathroom.
I would chip the beach that is less than 10 minutes from our new little apartment. Since we can’t paint the apartment, I’d be getting a head start on decorating our house that we’ll be buying in the spring.
I would love to use the chip on my bedroom Trying to repaint and can’t quite decide on color. Thinking about rainwashed, but it would be great to see how it looks first. Thanks for all your tips. Especially hair!!
I tweeted this too: https://twitter.com/kimmin121/status/222316978197643265
My husband and I are building a new house and when I saw your blog post about Chip-It several weeks back, I got so excited! It was exactly what I needed to plan ahead and figure out how I was going to style each room.
So far I have used Chip-It to create styles for our master suite (see below), our study (Safari/African), our two guest bedrooms (Vintage and Asian), our guest bathroom (Bold and bright, dancing in the rain-ish), and our kitchen (Italian). I told you I got excited! 🙂
Below are links to the two images used to create our master suite design style. This is actually the honeymoon suite we stayed in on our wedding night back in January! I thought it would be very nostalgic to design our bedroom just like our honeymoon suite, not to mention the fact that we adored the elegent, yet royal feel of the room!

We are about to make our second move in 5 months. We will finally be in a more permanent space and I can decorate. Yay! I haven’t pulled out decorations here due to the short time we are here. Ugh! Itching to decorate and paint! Big moves, like 1500 miles across the US. Would love to use chip it
I am painting three rooms this summer…bedroom, bathroom, and family room. Here are my chips for each one:http://chipcards.letschipit.com/nL7FIv.jpg (bathroom), http://chipcards.letschipit.com/gcoLMY.jpg (bedroom), http://chipcards.letschipit.com/OI7HJg.jpg (family room). This looks awesome! I love that shower curtain and all the accents you have selected. I need to do some work on my guest bathroom…it’s boring :-/
I would like to use the chip it tool for our guest bathroom (it’s looking a little dated), and our master bath. I just used Sherwin Williams paint this past week to paint both of my children’s closets….great paint!
I would love to change up the kitchen–it’s our last room with wallpaper!
I love the shower curtain! I think the “chip it” tool would be really helpful while working on my kitchen – especially since I keep finding amazing kitchens all over pinterest but can’t figure out what color paints they use…so frustrating!
I think your makeover is well underway!!! Love the bright and cheerful shower curtain! Can’t wait to see the finished product…
i think the chip it tool would come in handy for painting our guest bathroom. ever since we moved into our house 3 years ago, it’s been a boring tan color, but i’m not sure which direction in which to go with it.
Hi Kate! Thank you for doing this giveaway! I would really like to “chip” an outdoor table that is made of birch wood. I have been trying to figure out what cheerful color to paint it, but I can’t seem to decide. The chip it tool will really help me to pick an awesome color!

Kate this has to do with your clothes and not the bathroom color. I was looking back trying to find the jeans you said you loved so much. Can you tell me what brand and style they were? I can’t seem to find the post about them.
Thanks from Hickory!
I have a painting in my living room I would use. Would love to find a new color for the space!

Hey Kate! I think you should let me paint something for your bathroom:-)
I think you need a simple square canvas in the colors of your curtain. It would look nice to have a close-up floral, a bird and branch, or a simple line of vases. It would make my day if you checked out my blog:-)

Hi Kate. Love the color choice for the bathroom. Some day I am going to do mine in turquiose and brown pattern … which will come with our bathroom hull over! 🙂 My color inspiration will be for one of my daughters rooms. My mom bought her new decor for her bedroom – daisies, which I think it precious … http://www.celebratinghome.com/sites/debrasparks/PWPShowProduct.ashx?ProgramProductId=7902&ProgramCategoryId=181
Can’t wait to see your bathroom, Kate! I love that tool…I’m going to try it on an arrangment of peonies…that should help me find the perfect shade of pink! 🙂
I would use Chip It! on a painting I love in our bedroom so that I could match everything to it!
I love Color, so chip it will come n handy for me. I would use it in my daughters room. She loves everything orange, and it is easier topick out a comforter and match the wall Colorado, other than the other way around.
I would use it for all of these wonderful pillows to re-do my bedroom or guest bedroom/office. such an awesome idea!

I just found out I am having a baby girl and can’t wait to get started decorating her nursery! I was looking online at crib bedding this weekend and found several that I love. My living room is in serious need of some color!! I’m going to check it out!
The chip it is SO much fun!!! :):)

I have this amazing hand-painted teacup. My grandma gave it to me when I was about 3 years old, it was a piece from her grandma’s wedding china. I love it and I’ve always wanted to decorate my kitchen around it. I think I will have to use the chip it program and see what I can do with it!
We’re in the same boat but with our own bathroom (we only have 1 bathroom for the house). The house came built with a blue-ish/turquoise tile around the bottom half of one side of the bathroom (where the shower is) and we bought a simple yet elegant with its pattern, dark brown shower curtain and rug. Now that we stripped the horrific wallpaper down that was in there, we’re looking for a complimentary color with CHIP IT to see what would look best with the tile and the curtain! It’s a great tool, my husband is way more psyched about this than I am!
TWITTERED it to! https://twitter.com/KatieSundt/status/222393489915248640
Looking for a color to paint our dreadful looking bathroom… CHIP IT and it gives you colors that complement what’s already in there! #love

My fiance and I are moving into our first new home together – we’ve lived in an underground apartment for YEARS so we’re excited to move into a place with natural light. I’m a photographer, and so we’d like to chip a picture I took of sunrise in our home town last year for a bold, modern pop to our home!

So I just moved into a new home YESTERDAY which is over twice the size of my previous one!! Yay!!! But with so much extra space, we have had lots to do to get it ready. I saw the Chip It feature on here and gave it a shot with all 4 of my children’s bedding and my own. The results were amazing! Then I went on to use it for living, dining and kitchen also. And Sherwin Williams had all paint 30% off last week. Soooo glad you mentioned it on here! I have showed it to everyone who has come to help with the house!!

I need help finding the perfect shade of gray. I think Chip It my be the answer.
After six months living in different cities following my husband’s new job my son and I are finally moving to where my husband is! We close on our house next Friday and my first project is for my son’s room… my mother purchased this bedding for him as a gift, and now we have a puke green walls to cover with something new! I just have to find the perfect color!

Here is the image to the living room I wish I had… unfortunately, my living room looks nothing like this. It has one big picture window, two little square crank windows, and a door on 3 of the 4 walls. It’s a long galley-styled room that is hard to place furniture in. This inspiration came from a need to have a calm place in such a chaotic life. By bringing these colors to my very bland living room, I feel like me and my other half will be able to relax at the end of the day.

We live in military housing, so paiting the walls is a no-no. 🙁 But, I would love to re-decorate a few rooms in my house. My husband is currently deployed, so during this deployment, it is my goal to revamp! My plan is to revamp my desk area. As a full time college student, I need more organization (and it has to be cute too!). I would also like to do something with our downstairs (guest) bathroom. It’s bland too and needs some red! And finally, my youngest daughter is on the autism spectrum so needless to say her room constantly looks like a tornado! I need organization, organization and more organization. I would also love to paint her dresser (which she uses for her toys) her favorite color to help add a pop in the room!
I am in the process of converting my Dad’s old garage into an apartment for me! Chip it is really going to help me pick all the colors I need! I have a wonderful quilt that I’ll be using in my room and it may be hard to match colors up.
Wow, what a cute curtain! I think you made a good choice for the wall color. I want to use the Chip It! tool for my master bath. We’ll see what kind of ideas it comes up with!

I’m moving to a new apartment shortly and need some color ideas. I’d use chip on a photo of a friend’s bridal bouquet – lots of hydrangeas, but also used decorative lettuce. It was fresh and bright, but also very soft – perfect for a bedroom or living space!
I’m remodeling my home and love that picture and have it as inspiration for my bathroom. So glad I found it on pinterest. I would color chip a painting that is in my living room. It has the perfect blue hue and would love it on my walls.

I LOVE the color of light blue hydrangeas–I would love to have my bedroom painted in that color. It would be so calming and refreshing.
Im looking for a new inspiration for my living room, maybe light yellow. saltpepper1_2000@yahoo.com
I’d love to “chip” a piece of vintage floral fabric that I bought to make throw pillows for my bed. I want the room to be shabby chic and not too feminine for my “manly” husband. 🙂 I’d love to win!!!! e_bostian at yahoo dot com
I would like to chip some beautiful material that we got when we were in Italy. It is almost the beautiful color of the Mediterranean and also the deep purples and greens of grapes and their vines. We have just converted our garage into a room for relaxing and these colors woul bring back so many memories.

Totally love the colors in the shower curtain-running to Target in the morning to get the shower curtain. Going to use Chip It to help pick out some new colors for my bathroom!

Thank you for sharing this. I really love your ideas and your choices. This just shows that one does not need to do major renovations to make an area beautiful and appealing. Just choosing the right things and accessories will definitely make a space more pleasing.
