Fashion Night
Hello 78!
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of working with Lauren from Simply Chic Mom on a fashion and hair night! It was held at our church during a “coffee house” night that occurs during the off week of a bible study.
Lauren is an incredibly talented thrifter. I mean, this girl can find gems in a thrift store. She has a method to successful thrifting too–which is extremely helpful when your in a chaotic, color-coordinated thrift store.
The night was filled with fashion tips and advice, a few hair tutorials, winter trends, my favorite hair products, and a Q&A at the end.
My sister Lauren was one of my models, and Lauren T used her as an example for defining our Style Statement.
I threw Lauren’s hair into a quick messy side updo, a lot like this one!
Lauren and I listened intently as the audience asked us questions.
I’m sure I’m telling some sort of joke here to try to mask my nerves. 🙂
Overall, the night was a huge success! Women left inspired and excited to try some new style ideas! We’re hoping to do this again in the new year and we hope you can come if you are local!

Looks like a fun night! I’m always jealous of people with the gift of thrift – I never have luck in those stores!
Sounds like a ton of fun. My aunt is an amazing thrifter. So good, that she actually makes a lot of money on ebay selling her finds. It’s incredible. I seem to only find junk when I’m thrifting.
Please have Lauren T share her thrift secrets! I love the thrift store finds but when you walk in it is overwhelming. Tips on how to tackle it would be great… To go along with the great hair !
I second Diana’s comment. I’d love to hear her method to successful thrifting too!
So cool! I wish I could have been there! I think you are so talented. I’m really happy you started a blog. Thank you for sharing your awesomeness!
I have incredibly thick hair. Any advice on a product that would tame flyaways? Thanks!!
Sounds so fun! I would love to go to something like that!
I really enjoyed this blog post. I am always looking for ways to save money and I just recently started a blog on ways to recreate old items to make them new (when I say recent I mean I have one post). If you get a chance to check out my blog I would love some advice. I am looking forward to checking out Lauren’s blog as well to get some great ideas for thrift store shopping. I love thrift stores and a great deal. My blog: CreateMeNew.blogspot.com Let’s transform together from the inside out!
this is great! I would have love to come, but I’m in NY! I wish there was someone like you in NY, I would be in heaven!!!
Just wondering if you knew where the girl in the first picture, on the right, got her litle, cardigan/ sweater? It’s adorable and a good layering piece! Thanks!!
this looks so fun! i have been wanting to try thrifting {im in a new city with several new stores} but i am a little intimidated!
I love the camel colored sweater too! Can you share where she got this? Looks like a great piece to wear for Thanksgiving Day to hide all of the full tummies!
@Megan: I believe she got it at Target! Her blog is http://www.frommygreydesk.com if you want to comment and ask her!
Kate, I love your outfit. Where is it from?
@Anonymous: shirt from JCrew outlet, “vest”/grey sleeveless sweater from Hot Mama!
Just found your blog through pinterest! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I LOVE it. Just what I’ve been looking for! Again, thank you!
Finally I found your blog.
My girls are frequent visitors to your blog.
Often when they have a new hairstyle, and I ask about it, they say: “It’s from the Small Things Blog”. Now I know what they are talking about!
Great website/blog!
Looks like the fashion night was fun times!
Regards!
this is such a great idea!
