Back to school with Gymboree

2 Summertime outfits for under $50 + a Giveaway!

You know how sometimes you remember things so vividly that you wouldn’t have thought would make such an impact on you? For some reason I have a very specific memory of my friend Jenna telling me that if she ever had a son that she’d dress him like I dress my boys.

“They always look so comfortable but still put together,” she said.

To this day I can’t really tell you why I remember that like I do, but she did go on to have a son and she dresses him in really cute outfits!

I’ve always majored on comfort over style for my kids. They are active little boys and the few times I put David in nicer pants only to watch him struggle to throw his leg up on the next structure at the playground was enough for me.

Gymboree is a brand I’ve bought for my boys over time, and I was so excited to get David and Luke a little back to school outfit for this upcoming school year! Their clothes are so cute and they stand the test of time. The t-shirts are soft and I love the pants that have the elastic waist for both boys. They were very excited about their new back to school clothes and loved the little monster theme!

At the beginning of each school year the teachers will hand out a little schedule of what the day will look like for their students. For both boys there will be time spent outside on the playground every day! I keep that in mind when I pick out their outfits, because I want them to feel comfortable and free in their clothes.

We made a little pre-back to school video with the boys recently to start getting them in the mindset that school is starting soon!

On the way to preschool last year, David and I would always talk through the names of each of his classmates. I found that if I asked him a general question like, “what did you do at school today?”, he wouldn’t usually give me much of an answer. But if I asked him about something specific, like if they played with play-doh or if they played outside on the playground, he would typically divulge a bit more.

The older he gets, the more interaction will be with his classmates versus just listening to his teacher, so I’m making it a point this year to talk to him about being “an includer”. The idea of kids being left out breaks my heart, and I would be so proud of my boys if they ever took an opportunity to include a kid that was either very shy or just didn’t feel like they were a part of something happening in the classroom for whatever reason.

And while that is my goal for him for the school year, I asked him what HIS #kidgoals were for this year and he said he wanted a backpack! And then he told me he wanted to be a pumpkin pie when he grows up so we’re going to need to work on the difference between goals and just general dessert cravings!

David and Luke have such differing personalities, I’m anxious to see what role they play in school. I could totally see Luke being a class clown, and David being a more focused rule-follower. I can see Luke playing sports and David being more into science as they get older too. I’m certainly not wishing these sweet younger years away, but I am excited for the next chapters of our lives.

This is a sponsored blog post. I received compensation from Gymboree. The opinions and text are all mine.

I don’t have kids, but I would think comfort over style would always be the key. The kids look so cute, though, in their new clothes, and they look comfortable too!

David and Luke are just too blooming cute. I have so enjoyed watching them grow. What a pleasure! And they are so funny. The snaps and Instastories that you share with your followers are awesome. I love that they are wanting to be more interactive with your videos.

I have an 18 y/o daughter who is starting college in a few weeks, and I used to dress her in Gymboree clothes when she was a little girl. They are amazing and last a long time. Oh, and are oh so cute!

Your boys are adorable…you are truly blessed with a wonderful family! Thank you for sharing. I am curious though, what setting did you put your camera on to get such a great crisp photo of your boys jumping/moving? I am still trying to capture that look, and seem to fail every time.

Being a pumpkin pie is pretty awesome life goals, though. I respect it.

It’s crazy how big they’re getting! I remember reading when you gave birth to both of them; time goes by so fast!

I am a huge fan of Gymboree for my boys, and they have been wearing their clothes since birth. I went in last month during their sale to get the boys some things, and I realized neither one of them will fit into their clothes now. I walked out of the door, without a bag in my hand, and I was so sad that the Gymboree period of life was now over.

Cute post Kate! Looks like you and the boys had fun! I’m a preschool teacher in Chapel Hill. It’s funny, but I always notice if the kids are dressed comfortably. ha! Gymboree is definitely a brand I see over and over at school on happy active kiddos.

Live this post! My son also starts school this year. I dont normally shop at gymboree – I find their store too congested at my mall, but I will check it out for these monster tees.

We LOVE Gymboree. It’s one of the only brands that still looks good when it hands down to my second son!
