A lipliner trick

next
Battle For Best, round 1

I don’t regularly wear lip liner, and the only time I’ll go to wear it is if I’m wearing a bold color that I want to look super clean around my lips.

It’s just one of those makeup steps that I never make time for and I typically don’t miss. I think part of that, though, is that I always felt like had to line my lips while carefully looking in the mirror and then apply lipstick, and then blot, and then reapply and it felt like a whole, long process.

In the summer, my makeup gets more minimal than ever, including lip color. I’ll reach for something sheer and light on days that my makeup is pretty basic. And I recently tried this trick to give my lips a tiny bit of attention without going overboard.

You can see in the photo below that my bottom lip sort of fades into my skin color. My natural lip color is such a soft pink that if I don’t wear anything on them I usually feel like I look tired or ill. So I grabbed my lip liner in the shade Boho by Tarte, and simply finished out my bottom lip.

All I needed was to add a touch of definition about my lower lip to make my entire mouth look a little bit more defined, without adding a ton of color.

Lip liner typically lasts well on the lips since it’s usually a drier formula than lipstick, so I would just apply a bit of my fresh Rose lip treatment on top and head out the door. And I honestly wouldn’t even touch up as the day goes on.

It’s a simple and quick way to freshen up your look without adding any maintenance or fuss!

I’ve actually never used lip liner before. I remember seeing my Mum use it when I was young. I should try it out, thanks for the tip!

The person who did my makeup for my wedding used only lip liner on my lips, coloring in my whole lip with it and then putting gloss over it. Lasted ALL day, despite pictures, humidity, and the fact that i tend to eat off lip color. I think the reason I wouldn’t use it strictly as liner is because I was a teenager during the horrid “dark liner, light lip” haze of the 90s-early 2000s, and although I didn’t dabble In the trend, it was still an assault on my eyes!

I actually use lip liner all the time! I love wearing it alone for a hint of color without being too much, especially for work.

Just this summer started doing this!! It’s soo simple easy and quick. And you look great still!! I love this way & haven’t really touched a lipstick as I use to before I started doing my lips this way. And as you said it stays on so good. Practically all day w no touchups.
I think its amazing ❤
