2 Summertime outfits for under $50 + a Giveaway!
A lipliner trick
I grew up in the north, so wintertime was the season of the year that you tried to do everything inside. It was the most severe, temperature-wise, and it felt like it lasted forever!
Now that I’ve lived in the south for over 10 years, I’ve learned that the dead of summer is the hardest season. It’s oppressively hot and humid, so I find myself looking for things to do inside as much as possible. The only way to be comfortable while outside is in a body of water.
When it comes to dressing for 100 temperatures, I keep it simple and light. I try to avoid layers and often choose dresses or skirts so I can avoid having a layer of clothing touching my body.
If you saw any of my other posts about thredUP you would know I’m a big fan. If you’ve never heard of it, they are the largest online resale store with brands up to 90% off retail! I’ve gotten into a routine of checking the website almost weekly because they add over 15 thousand items every day! I don’t enjoy the process of scouring a consignment shop, but shopping online for high quality and secondhand items is right up my alley. I love that I can search by brand, which is what I often do, or search for a specific item.
I put together 2 summertime outfits for under $50 that I found on thredUP, and what I like is they can go from day to night with just a simple swap of shoes and accessories.
First up, I found this Michael Kors skirt for $24.99 (originally $80) and immediately loved the pattern. I almost never wear pattern, so I was surprised that I was drawn to it. It has a nice side slit to make it easy to wear too. I paired it with a simple black tank that I found for $12.99 (originally $60). So the total cost of this outfit is only $38.00!
While they offer a huge range of brands from stores that most shoppers are familiar with, I tend to check out the designer section first. I’ve found designer items marked down so much from their original cost, and you can’t even tell they were ever worn. It’s not pictured here, but I recently purchased a Joie dress for $40 that was originally $189!
For a date night outfit, I found this beautiful Kut from the Kloth blouse for under $22.00 (originally $68.00) that I paired with classic skinny jeans. In the daytime I’d be most likely to pair it with a pair of distressed denim shorts, but I like the look of it with skinny jeans for evening because it balances out the volume of the top. I found a great pair of J.Crew Factory skinny jeans for only $12.99 (originally $79.00). I know how that brand fits me, so I knew exactly what size to order!
