Panesonic Lumix G-5 Review (and a Giveaway!)

A Satur-Day in my life // shot with the Panasonic Lumix G-5.
(no adjustments made to the photos, all filters/effects were chosen on the camera)

I have really enjoyed getting to explore the Panasonic Lumix G-5. I would never call myself a photographer, but I happen to take thousands of photos for the blog–and I enjoy it. There is so much I could learn to manually adjust things based on certain lighting or situations, but it’s nice when the camera does a lot of that for you.

I love the size of the Lumix G-5. It’s light enough to carry around all day and small enough to be wrapped in a scarf and placed gently in my purse. It’s comfortable to hold, which I was skeptical about due to its size. You can feel that it’s a quality camera, without the weight of a bulky larger camera.

I was surprised to discover how much I noticed the “automatic transition to viewfinder from screen” feature. If you are using the screen to either look at photos that you’ve already taken, or to set up your shot for another photo, you can switch from screen to viewfinder by simply lifting the camera to your eye. I never would have thought that feature would be a selling point for me, but it’s nice to not have to click through a few buttons to switch back to the viewfinder. With all my cat photography, I’ve learned that you have to be quick and take about 1,000 photos to get at least one good one!

The filters that you can select on the camera are fun to play around with. They take photography from simply “taking a photo” to “creating an artistic shot”. Each filter you select will show you a version of how your photo will look when you are preparing to shoot. It’s intuitive to find the filters, and takes a bit of editing work off your plate!

Aside from being a blogger and taking photos for the blog, I love having a great camera to document our lives. I’m glad that I have so many images from various parts of our lives throughout the year. I look forward to taking photos of my kids, when we have them, and continuing to document family vacations.

If you are considering investing in a high quality camera, I’d suggest checking out the Panasonic Lumix G-5. You get all the wonderful features wrapped up in a lightweight and simple to use camera. You can get free shipping at Panasonic.com until December, 31 2012!

We need a new camera so bad! My one year old broke ours right before the holidays!! My fave feature – lightweight, easy to use for non-techie mom like me! I love to carry the camera everywhere, but when they are too bulky to pull out it’s such a pain!

  2. says

I desparately need this camera! I am missing so many adorable moments with my 2 little girls wih only my silly iPhone camera. With it being so lightweight, I could easily add it to the diaper bag without killing my shoulder!

  3. says

I love that you have the option to “edit” the photo via camera instead of taking the time to do it on the computer! I had several pics from my chicago trip a few weeks ago. Took over an hour editing the photos (which don’t look near as good as the ones above!) :)

  4. says

I love brightness in the photos! Have been wanting a new camera and want to pass my old one down to my 11 year old daughter who loves to take pics too!

I love the photos first of all. I also love how small and light weiht it is. Perfect for a just grab and go camera. Perfect! Tristan

I don’t blog and I don’t tweet but I DO love photography and I would love, Love, LOVE this awesome camera. I am AMAZED with the creative filter effects. Keeping my sweet little Carolina fingers crossed!

  7. says

Sounds like I would love everything about this camara. But the fact that I wouldn’t have to feel like a goof everytime I tried to switch from the screen to the viewfinder would be awesome. I’m always that person that tries to look through the viewfinder when it’s not switched to that setting!

  8. Jessica Jo says

I don’t want to enter because I rarely use my camera that I bought last year because I always use my smart phone, but where did you get your sweater?! I love it!

  9. says

I love that it will recommend a filter based on what the scene is, and that it takes HD video as well. This would be a great camera for this mama of two adorable little boys! :)

  10. Dana says

I love the size and weight of this camera. Nothing more annoying than lugging around a ginormous monstrosity of a camera!

  11. Anonymous says

I think I would enjoy the lightweight-ness of the camera with high qaulity pics, but I also think I would enjoy being able to edit directly on the camera without having to download to the computer and using a program

Honestly, I would love the automatic switch from viewfinder to screen. I am currently using an old Sony Cybershot, and it has a button you have to push to switch from viewfinder to screen, and I always forget to push it! That simple convenience of the automatic switch would make a huge difference to me, as I like to switch back and forth quite a bit. Also, the 14 creative filters sounds like they would be fun to play with!

I’ve just spent the last 20 minutes looking at this camera online! I love it. I’ve been wanting a new camera and doing my research for the past six months, and I hadn’t come across the Panasonic Lumix G-5! I love that it is beginner-friendly (I am not a photog either, but I want the best pictures possible), and that it has HD video. Thanks for hosting the giveaway, Kate!

I love the filters that the camera has on it! I don’t have time to learn all the manual settings that cameras like the Cannon Rebel require. And I LOVE taking pictures of my kids!

  15. says

Love how the quality of the picture in a very small light weight and I love the size, not too intrusive when taking picture. Hope I win this one, camera as I’m looking to get a new camera, never own one. I’m always borrowing my sister’s or sharing with my husbands Canon SLR (which is big)

  16. says

I love the idea of the filters, I use camera plus on my phone all the time but hate that the pixels are so low. I would love to have a nice camera that doesn’t require editing on the computer, I can share faster with friends and family!

  17. says

While the concept of having small, compact, lenses has been quite appealing to me (who doesn’t want a 400mm equivalent lens smaller than a coffee mug!)This would be wonderful to have, esp. with our new addition making his arrival in March. :)

  18. says

I love the filters. I spend so much time editing pictures that I’d love to be able to select the filter on the camera and skip the whole editing process!

  19. Amber Powell says

I’m not a photographer by any means but I love the different effects it offers. I’m not sure what the effect/filter is called but I like the chips & salsa picture…how It’s a close up and everything else in the background is blurred.

  20. Jody Sullivan says

I love being able to take artistic shots with a camera that fits inside my purse!
This one is being added to my Christmas list for sure!

  21. says

I love that it sounds like anyone can use it! I recently bought a Canon DSLR camera and spent A LOT of money on it. I tried it out at my friends wedding recently and the pictures were just OK. I played with numerous settings and only got decent pictures in B&W mode. It made me very sad because they weren’t happy with the professional photog they hired which means they were really looking forward to using some of their guests pictures. Sounds like I bought the wrong camera! :-(

  22. says

I love the advantage of contrast auto focusing, because I have 2 young boys at home. It is REALLY hard to get them to sit still to take their picture, so I take many of them on the move:) Thanks for the chance to win this camera.

  23. says

my favorite feature would have to be the size and weight. i have a big camera, but by the time i bring the lenses, etc. it’s so much to have to lug around. i would love something smaller and lighter!

  24. says

i like the auto-transition feature; with two little kids (plus cats and a dog), quick changes are important so i don’t miss something fantastic.

  25. says

This would be an awesome win for our upcoming Disney trip! We went last October and my camera took horrible pictures. These photos look great and I would love to capture this Disney trip!

  26. says

Beautiful photos! I would love to have a camera that’s better than my phone camera. I’d be inspired to take more pictures if I had something small (and cute) to tote around!

  27. says

I want to win this camera for my new photography position! I want to be a photographer so badly and would love the chance to win this camera to get started!! Thanks Kate!

Holy mess! I can not believe you are giving away a camera! I seriously need a new one, my current camera does not meet the quality standards that are anywhere close to this camera! I have spent the past few months researching the best camera for my small upcoming buisness & this seems to be a perfect fit! I need a camera that can efficently document my life as well as my business! I am co-partners in a upcoming decorating business, and a camera of this level is something that is not on my “can-afford at the moment” list. I need a new one that can take clear and precise pictures of products and events! Thanks for this giveaway, I am an avid follower of you blog! I check it religiously, Happy Thanksgiving!

I love the fact that it is compact and takes amazing photos. A few years ago I dove in and purchased a Nikon D3000 with a few lenses and thought I would take these amazing photographs. They aren’t bad but I really love the ease in which you can switch things up and the compact size of the Panasonic. I do love my big camera but sometimes you just need/want to take a smaller one that can take really nice pictures.

  30. says

I’m LOVING all the cool filter features it has before you take the shot… just wow!! I’m not big on editing, and would love one of these for our new baby coming in February!! <3 I checked out the site for it, I love the view finder and how it pops out and can be moved! so convenient!! :)

  31. says

I really like the size of the camera! I have never been a big fan of toting cameras around, but the iPhone 5 camera isn’t as great as I would like but I’m not willing to tote around the BIG canon rebels, etc.

  32. says

I love how there are ways to adjust the photograph’s settings before you take the picture — that definitely would take time away from having to edit…LOVE that! :-) Thanks so much for hosting this giveaway!

  33. says

My favorite feature is that it is capable of catching memories. Which I realize is true of all camera, but the crispness of the photos posted using this camera are incredible- no guessing what’s going on in the picture. My husband recently lost ours on a hike and I am dying for a new one to capture more memories of our 2 year old and 9 month old.

  34. says

I am a fan of Panesinic lumix for a very long time. Currently I own a Panesonic Lumix GF series camera, my favorite features of lumix camera including the pin point feature, the sleek of the camera design, smooth operation and mostly the selection of different mode.

  35. says

My daughter is asking Santa for a “good camera” this year. This one, I think we could share! I would love a smaller, more easily portable camera.

  36. says

The size is nice. It’s sometimes inconvenient to carry around my DSLR. I love the external flash option as well as a touch screen lcd and the fact that it rotates!

  37. says

Not only is the size great, but the touchscreen is something that I think I would enjoy. Even though it’s become the norm in technology, it’s been slower to infiltrate the camera market.

  38. says

As I have researched it, this camera just seems like the whole package of what I am looking for in a camera. It is both small and light weigh which is important to me, I dont want to be lugging around this heavy large camera. Yet you arent sacrificing picture quality!

    • Maggie says

ps- what color is the Essie nail polish in the one picture you posted? I just bough mochacino over the weekend which looks similar. Great fall color :o)

  39. says

I actually have a Panasonic Lumix at home, but its BROKEN (someone got sand all up in there) and I have not gotten a nice picture since summer. I have a new nephew I’d like to go all paparazzi on and have not been able to. Really hope I win!

  40. says

I think it’s hard to pick one feature! I of course, love the small, lightweight feature, but I love that you can get a crisp picture while blurring the outside frame. Makes me look like I *might* know what I’m doing! ;-)

  41. says

Oh my gosh! Anything is better than my little point and shoot Canon. I’d love a camera that will take a good picture without a flash – I love natural lighting.

  42. says

My favorite feature of the camera is how light it is; it would be easy to take it out all day and not have to deal with a bulky camera and it takes awesome pictures! I’m really in the market for a new camera for my blog and I think this would be perfect!

I’ve never tried a panasonic camera. The camera I have now I’ve had for a few years and i would love to upgrade! I love photography and I think this camera would def. help my follow my love for photography even more so. I love that its touch screen, it has all those filters to choose from, and I LOVE the movable screen! I’m crossing my fingers!

  44. Anonymous says

I love the fact that it has 14 Automatic Creative Filter Effects, and the easily interchangeable lens is great! Also, the size looks perfect!

(I tried to read the rules or alternative entries, but it said that my access was denied. I hope this entry still goes through!)

  45. says

The fact that is it compact but has an interchangable lense is AMAZING. I have resisted buying as SLR because I don’t want to lug one around. This seems like the perfect solution!

  46. says

I like that it’s small & compact. That’s important to me, because you don’t want something that is going to take up too much space in your bag (diaper bag, real classy huh?.

  47. says

I have been debating on upgrading my camera and trying to decide on the perfect one. The weight of the camera is a huge plus! If it is too heavy I will not lug it around and then why have it??

  48. says

I love the filter options! I would love to be able to manipulate a cameras filter options, but I am terribly intimidated by the notion. This camera looks like a great choice for learning to do so.

  49. says

The compact size is definitely a selling point for me. When you are running after a toddler to get that one shot you need all arms and hands on deck!

  50. says

Anything that will automatically pick settings for me is AWESOME. I do not know anything about photography but get so frustrated when my photos look so ho-hum and boring, just b/c I don’t know how to change all the settings in my camera. Automatic = happy me!

  51. says

Well, considering all I have is a point and shoot Nikon, it would be a HUGE step for this family to get a camera that would self-adjust correctly or that I could adjust manually to any and all conditions/situations. I love that it has the great features of a huge professional camera, but it is in a compact, high performance camera that would make me feel professional :-). I have to admit that the filters are probably my favorite feature. This saves so much time when trying to customize the prints. Thanks for introducing this camera to me!

  52. says

The touchscreen LCD display is awesome to have, makes the usage so much easier as well as the LCD screen ability to angle the display. SO much easier for a shorter girl to shoot higher objects.:)

  53. says

I love the picture quality! I’m no professional, so the fact that it can take such beautiful pictures effortlessly, really makes me like that feature. Also, the size. While I’m chasing my three boys, I need a smaller camera for ease of use!

  54. says

I have been wanting an upgrade to my little point and shoot Canon for sometime now, and the Lumix G5 seems like the perfect one! I love the idea of a DSL camera, but the heaviness of one is a major downfall. My favorite part of this camera is how light it is so I can take it around my house, trips, etc and just snap away. As a blogger, a good camera is a must and the filters on it are awesome!

    https://twitter.com/SandraLee0415/status/270601787822702593

  55. says

I love the feature of the filters! Your coffee cup looked really cool with the filter applied! :-) I would think some fall trees and leaves could be snazzy with a filter like that one. Sounds like a fun camera!

  56. says

My favorite feature is the filter preview option. I would love to take more artistic photos, but I’m never sure if they’ll turn out. This would definitely eliminate any doubt before snapping photos!

  57. says

As a photographer myself, I am impressed by the built-in processing of this camera! The colors are vivid and the bw is impressive in its detailing! Wow, I never would have even considered this camera before seeing these pictures. I am personally a fan of the bw of (I’m assuming) your husband doing some studying–the contrast is there, but so are the little details. Great review!

  58. says

Being a wedding planner I love the burst speed to capture the emotion of an event. Having a burst of shots grabs that great shot! We’ve only owned Lumix cameras and this one is on my list for Santa. It would be great if an elf could give a little help! ;-) …ps…always LOVE this blog!

  59. Shalee Shuayto says

I think your pictures are great! I don’t take horrible pictures but for some reason I keep looking at better cameras thinking it will some how improve my skills. Silly me!

  60. says

I like that the Panasonic Lumix G-5 is lightweight and easy to use. I have never used such a complex camera. I have always had a point and shoot. Would love to try this camera, beautiful shots!

  61. says

I WANT YOUR SWEATER! Where is it from?!??! Could you mention it in your next post please?!

Also, the camera… would be AMAZING. Portable yet high quality with all sorts of options. While composition is the key to a great picture (and lighting!), you need a good device in order to frame and light those awesome shots… and this certainly is it!

  62. says

I am in desperate need of a good camera, this one looks awesome. And it’s exciting that it has the filters in the camera so I don’t have to play around on the computer for hours trying to figure it out.

I really like the ideas of interchangeable filters – it can be very tough and time consuming to do this in post-production, so I like that this camera makes it really easy. The image quality also looks stunning!

  64. says

I love that it’s lightweight and easy to carry. I also love that it’s beginner friendly. My husband has been wanting a camera for a while and this would be perfect for him!

  65. says

I like how you described that you set up all the effects on the camera before taking the picture and they turned out great as opposed to editing them after. Sounds simple and fun!

  66. says

I would love a good camera to capture my precious daughter. Right now the iphone is the my only camera since my hubby broke ours! Anything is better than a camera phone but I love the filter options!

  67. says

My favorite feature has to be the sensor! I read that it’s a lot better than a point and shoot. I don’t have a camera right now. I’ve been taking photos with my phone. I’d feel so lucky to win one!

  68. says

This would a perfect camera for those trips out. It could reside in my purse because it is a bit smaller than my other one, which can feel like a beast. I love so many things about it. The filters are cool but I think I am most attracted to it’s ability to take great photos and still be a smaller lightweight option.

  69. Gina Atkins says

I love effects for pictures so I love that this camera has them with filters. It gives pictures a special feel.

  70. says

I really like the size of this camera – not bulky, but not elementary-looking. I really would love to win this awesome prize, as I am relegated to using my iPhone for pictures. My camera is at least 5 years old…OLD isn’t even the word if you saw the quality on the photos taken with that thing. Here’s to hoping….

  71. says

I love the size and the filters! It is fun to be able to play with your photos on your camera without shelling out a ton of money for an editing program.

  72. Tammy Akins says

I would love the variety of filters because I love taking creative pics of my 6 yr old! Being light weight would be a major plus as well!

  73. says

I love that the camera creates professional like quality, but is still easy for someone who is not a photographer to use! It also would be great because it is light enough to carry around wherever you go.

  74. Karisa Carlos says

I love all of the fun filter’s. I just started my own Etsy store, so the filters would be fun to take pictures of all of my items.

  75. says

Quick recovery after each photo is important and definitely a favorite feature…If you take a photo where there is alot of action such as a football game or concert, etc…you don’t want to miss a shot because your camera is not ready to take the next photo.

  76. says

My favorite part of the camera is the good quality pictures and the fast shutter speed. It is hard to take pictures of my daughter because she moves around so much. This camera would capture all of her cute poses and expressions without the blur that I currently get.

  77. says

I don’t know much about the camera, and I’m definately not a photographer, but I LOVE how crisp and clear your photos are! Wow! Would love one of those!

  78. Paige W says

I’m loving the size of this camera. Without losing the picture quality, it seems small enough to throw in my purse on a daily basis!

  79. says

I love all of the filter options. I can tell it takes better quality pictures than my camera does now, with the terrible graininess. Thanks for the giveaway!

  80. says

I LOVE the size. We have a large Nikon camera and NEVER take pictures anymore cause I can’t carry around this big bulky camera AND a 1 year old and carry my 3 year old daughters things that are “too heavy” for her… I need something that will fit in my purse, diaper bag or possibly a coat pocket!

Also I love the quality of the pictures!! My previous “pocket” camera took lousy pictures and as soon as I had my daughter I stopped using it cause my pictures were grainy.

  81. says

I don’t know if this posted the first time, but lets try it again.

I have a large bulky nikon, it take great pictures but it is FAR to large to take with to the zoo, park or anywhere. I love the size of the Panasonic! It’s easy to put in my purse, diaper bag and coat pocket.

Also I love the quality of the photos! My old “pocket” camera took very grainy photos and I stopped using it when my daughter was born because I couldn’t take good looking photos with that old (and horrible) camera!

I hope I win this! It would be a great addition to my family :)

  82. says

I don’t have a Lumix so I cannot tell you my favorite feature, however, I’ve been thinking of upgrading from my point and shoot camera, so winning this camera would be awesome! I photograph tombstones for fellow genealogists and a good camera would go a long way!

  83. says

I have a Canon DSLR, but it’s way too bulky to carry around all the time (I love taking random pictures). I smaller camera with all the quality of a DSLR would be amazing!

  84. says

Fav thing: That it’s more of a point and shoot than my big honkin’ DSLR :) We’ve been wanting a smaller camera for more day-to-day shooting.

  85. says

I’d have to say that I find the “beginner” friendly functions very appealing! I don’t have much of any experience with fancier cameras, but I sure would like to get some! Awesome giveaway Kate and Panasonic!

  86. Anonymous says

I love that it’s simple to use. I have been wanting to get a dslr camera for some time but a lot of them intimidate me. This seems like something I can handle! (twhita1@gmail.com)

  87. says

The fun filters are great! I don’t always like to carry around my bigger Canon DSLR, so it’s wonderful to have a high quality camera that’s a little more purse-friendly.

  88. says

Since I do not know much about cameras but would love to win one to learn…:) then the only thing I can say that has impressed me about the camera is the softness which the picture quality shows and the clarity.

  89. says

I used an older model of the Panasonic Lumix when I started my blog and still use the camera as a backup and for traveling. Especially great in low light and for scenery. I can only imagine that the new model is even better!

  90. says

The filters are really cool, but what stands out to me is that this quality camera has such a small, compact design! This would be a great camera to carry around–perfect for those unplanned, ‘picture perfect’ moments.

  91. says

I love the variety of filters and modes! Each pic looks like you did more to it than snap a photo. I think nowadays with smartphones and apps like Instagram and the like making photos look so chic in such a simple manner than these features are so important to keep up.

  92. says

I love the lightness of the camera! I’m a beginning photographer (emphasis on the beginning part!) And I take my photos with a rather clunky Cannon AE-1. I’ve contemplated going digital before, but I was always so upset when I found out you couldn’t switch out the lenses, but with this camera you can!! And, when you buy a camera with all the bells and whistles, it usually weighs a ton!!

  95. Rachel D. says

It looks lightweight and easy to tote around. That’s the worst part about the bigger cameras. They’re a pain to take anywhere.

  96. says

All of the features sound awesome! I am in the market for a new “good” camera to replace my little, old point and shoot. This one looks perfect. Automatic filter effects, interchangeable lenses, and all compact. What’s not to love?!?

  97. Kayley says

My favorite part of the camera is that it’s a great starter camera for those wanting to transition from a basic digital camera to a more advanced camera. I would love to have one! Thanks!

  98. says

Uh, I love that “automatic transition to viewfinder from screen” feature! I have cats, too, and they are sneaky! They always seem to know when I’m about to get my camera ready. Someday, when we have kids, I just KNOW they will be even faster than the cats! Haha…

  99. says

My favorite feature is having a viewfinder. When I try to take photos outdoors in bright light, I have such a hard time even seeing what is on the screen. A viewfinder would eliminate that issue.

  100. says

Love how compact it is. It’s been a while since I’ve traveled with a camera instead of clicking away with my phone, but it’d be great to have something that bridges the gap between my phone and a bulky professional camera.

My favorite features of this camera are its compact size and photo enhancing features. The camera looks to be the perfect size for traveling or everyday carrying in your purse. I also love that it is powerful with many features despite its size. The phot effects would be perfect for an amateur photographer like myself. I always find beautiful subjects but often need help with my execution of photos. I think this would be the perfect camera for my husband and I to take our our anniversary vacation to France. I have been wanting to get a camera that I could carry about for family activities. This sounds just perfect since its not bulky but also not lacking in picture quality. Thanks for a wonderful giveaway!!

I love to travel and this is just the camera I’ve been looking for…it has a portable size unlike bulky DSLR and great picture quality! Love love love! :)

This camera looks pretty cool, I like the idea of the 14 different filters and that it seems to take really great pictures without much tweaking from the photographer. A point and shoot that takes awesome quality photos would be amazing!

I am really loving how small and lightweight the camera appears to be with how professional the photos are coming out. I have never had a camera of my own and this one is just adorable.

I would love to win this camera! I think one of my favorite features of it would be the HDR that helps eliminate over or under exposure. I seem to have some problems in this area and that would be great to have a camera that can help me avoid these errors! :)

I love the idea of the view finder feature. My current camera only has a screen, which makes figuring out if you got a decent photo, or even just framing your shot well nearly impossible on a sunny day.

I love the automatic transition to viewfinder from screen feature. It is somewhat of a hassle on my current camera and I know an easy transition to screen/viewfinder would help me take better pictures!

I honestly love just how sharp the picture turn out. The high quality of such a light camera is amazing. I also enjoy all the creativity that can come from that camera with just one touch of a button.

I love how it is light and small. Part of the reason I do not own an actual camera is because the camera on my phone is so much more convienient (however it definitely lacks in quality of pictures).

I would love to have new camera! Mine just crapped out and I can’t afford a new one at this moment. I love how light it is! My old one was heavy and hard for my little hands to hold.

I am not a big camera person, they frighten me. I use my Iphone camera for everything. I would like to try a camera that is user friendly with the option of interchangable lenses for someone who wants to learn. The problem with this is that all these cameras cost an arm and a leg and for someone who wants to experiment, its just not in the budget. Would love to win and try it out!!!!!!!!!!!

We have been talking about getting a camera since our son was born (he will be 3 in March) and we need to finally make it happen. I need a camera that is fast so I can actually get some good pictures of my son climbing and jumping around.

I am with you on the cat photography, as a mother to two humans and two cats we are constantly snapping iphone pictures, I am craving the ability to shoot better pictures without having to take a photography class! The camera is intuitive to find the filters, and that would really help this beginner photographer!

I want, I need, I would LOVE to have this! I am an aspiring photographer and am always on the good hunt for a good “take anywhere” camera! This looks great! :)

This camera looks awesome! I love the quality of the photos with the smaller size. I’m in the same boat as a lot of people who are wary about taking a bigger camera with me at times.

  120. says

The smaller size would be a plus. My larger DSLR camera isn’t exactly convenient for dragging around everywhere, as much as I love taking pictures with it.

I would LOVE a new camera! It’s been on my wish list for a while now! I love the idea of the eye sensor feature and the filter options. It seems very “beginner” friendly, but offers plenty of advances you can “grow” in to. Perfect!

Thank you so much for this giveaway! I have been looking for a really nice camera that is easier to carry around on a daily basis and I’ve had my eye on the Panasonics. So, I guess I would have to say that my favorite features are the quality and the small size.

I have 2 favorite things about this Panasonic camera. The first is that it is small enough to carry around. I already lug a big purse and heavy diaper bag, the last thing I need is an additional big bag for a big camera. The second thing is that even though it’s a pretty small camera, it actually takes incredible pictures! Most smaller cameras (mine included!) take poor quality photos and since the lens is slow, I often miss the perfect shot!
