Jewelry Branch

Jewelry is a great way to accessorize an outfit. I like big earrings, statement necklaces, and bright colors. But I almost never wear bracelets or rings (besides my wedding band/engagement ring). I’ve found the best way for me to display my jewelry is visibly, instead of in a jewelry box. I’m likely to forget about certain pieces if I store them out of sight for too long.

I have a few store bought jewelry hanging storage “tree’s” where I hang most of my necklaces, but I needed a better place for earrings!

I found this Manzita tree branch at TJ Maxx a few weeks ago and thought it would be perfect for my earring display!

The gold chevron box is from Target for about $5.00 on clearance (down from $20!). I put hair accessories in it. Like this sparkly headband from Just Lovely Things!

(be sure to check out her shop for other hair accessories! Oh, and if you are interested in a discount–who isn’t?–use coupon code “smallthings” for 15% off!)

I think it’s a great way to display my most commonly worn earrings. A lot of the earrings shown on the branch are made by me. A few are from Target, and those beautiful green stone ones in the back? From the lovely Nicole Hazen, a Stella & Dot rep!

*I know it looks like this branch sits on my dresser, but it doesn’t. I have cats, people. That branch would be snapped in half and the earrings would be everywhere if I left it out. So it lives in my armoire with the rest of my jewelry!

I’m loving those red earrings too! 🙂 Also, still loving your longer bangs, Kate! Very pretty. 🙂

I am in need of something like this, maybe smaller. I waste so much time rumaging through my jewelry dish every morning. Things get tangled up, I get annoyed and I’m sure I’m missing opporunities to wear some of my great accessories because I can’t see them all. I will be on the lookout for something like this, it’s a great idea!

A couple of years ago, I bought two picture frames at Ross, probably about $2 on sale and little hooks from the hardware store. I took off the back of the frames and took out the glass and screwed the hooks into the top of the frame. I’ve hung these two frames and hang my necklaces on the hooks. I love the display as well as the ease of sorting through my necklaces! I’m still trying to figure out the best way to sort my earrings though.

I have a jewelry display board made out of a vintage printer drawer. It keeps everything organized, and visible. Love the branch idea, too!

Hi Kate,
I love your blog and your Etsy shop! For my own jewelry I just use different vintage bowls and am working on making something more fun and practical- the rummaging through just is not as fun (or as cute!) as this branch of yours! 🙂

I am also on Etsy, stop by sometime and look around if you can! :)http://www.etsy.com/shop/JoyWithinJewelry

I use a couple jewelry displays from At Home America, one of those direct sales companies, like Pampered Chef. I have one for necklaces and then an earring one. They are really nice looking and sit, nestled together, on my dresser. I have way too much jewelry though since I used to sell Premier, so 95% of my jewelry never gets worn and ends up tarnished. 🙁

I use the BelleDangles jewelry organizer I found on amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/BelleDangles-CLASSIC-Classic-Jewelry-Organizer/dp/B0057GMK6Y/ref=sr_1_1?s=jewelry&ie=UTF8&qid=1333545015&sr=1-1

It’s a pretty decoration in my bedroom…although if I had a larger walk-in closet I would hang it in there. It’s great!

Hi Kate! For necklaces I have a modern towel rack that I hung on the wall in my bathroom, bought matching shower curtain rings and hang each necklace on a curtain ring. As for earings, I have a frame I had gotten at Hobby Lobby, covered a piece of styrafoam with fabric, and attached that to the frame. Works great; however you beach and the various trees are cute too! ALSO, I love the way you’ve been styling your bangs…will you be having a new tutorial?!?!

I bought myself a birdhouse earring tree from JC Penney that holds LOTS of earrings and some necklaces. It’s very sturdy and attractive, unlike most that I found at other places. It was more than I would have normally paid but I got it on sale and used a $10 off coupon as well. Now I can actually see all my earrings and they are right at my fingertips.

I use a jewelry tree for my earrings, but for my necklaces I stuck small, clear plastic hooks on my closet wall. I can see what I have, and the necklaces don’t get tangled up.

I’m always looking for better jewelry storage. Mine is horrible!

oh I love this! I wish I could have a pretty little tree like that! I hang my jewelry in a travel container in my closet because I travel so much I can always take it with me and hopefully not loose anything! But I am with you, out of sight, out of mind! I need it displayed in front of me!

I am in LOVE with those red earrings! I agree with you about statement earrings. I used to love to wear small earrings and statement necklaces, but lately, I’ve been doing the opposite — a simple silver or gold chain necklace (or no necklace at all) and some fun earrings.

Great Target find, too! Every time I’m in Target, I have to walk through the home section, the jewelry section, and the shoe section — just to see what sort of deals I might find.

I currently display my earrings in two ways. I have a fun, white wire display piece from Home Goods. This has the ability to store a ton of earrings. My earring collection — which is probably about 30 pairs — doesn’t even take up half the space. I also store some of my favorite earrings, the ones I wear most often, on an antique silver tray that sits on a shelf/vanity in my bedroom. Your branch storage is gorgeous, though!

Love your blog!

I too got that little chevron box for $5 recently. Score! I have the Anthropolgie Ceramic Egg Crate on my dresser that holds my small earrings and rings. Found here (in white) http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/product/home-kitchen-gadgets/973774.jsp. Then I have a white ceramic bowl that has three sections from Marshalls that holds watches and large earrings. Love your tree though, so cute!

Love the tree idea! Unique and different than your typical metal jewelry tree. I use a tall metal jewelry tree for my necklaces and bracelets and then for my earrings – a wall chain! I found the idea recently on pinterest and it works great. I bought a chain link from Home Depot and secured it at each end with a nail…then each pair of earrings has a link to dangle from. It’s great for both display and space! Here’s some pictures of it from far away and up close: http://spatulasandbuttons.wordpress.com/2012/03/06/earring-chain/

I may have to use your tree branch idea however – I’m running out of space already! 🙂

I love manzanita branches for jewelry display. We live where they grow natively (Southern Oregon), and I’ve been meaning to go out to the woods for some time now to cut one, spray paint it gold, and hang it from the corner of the ceiling at Christmas with ornaments all over it.

Also, Kate, I think you’re adorabibble.

Hey Kate – what are your “rules” for accessorizing? I’m terrible at it and good use a good how-to. Maybe a guide to necklace length with various necklines. Mixing metallics? I love how adding accessories helps me look more put together. But with a full-time plus job and a 13.5 month old, I need some go to guidelines. Thanks!

For necklaces, I bought a cork board from Michael’s and some pretty fabric from Wal-Mart. I took a staple gun and stapled the fabric to the back, covering the frame. I then hung it on the wall next to my dresser. I then found some cheap push pins at the dollar store and hang my necklaces from the push pins. For earrings, I took an old frame and bought some lace at Wal-Mart. I hot glued the lace to the glass of the picture frame and then put the back back on. It works out perfectly to hang my earrings on and it’s pretty.

I have a white distressed jewelry tree. It has holes in each “branch” for earrings, the branches are long enough to hold bracelets, and the top of the tree is long enough for necklaces. I love it so much. It is fun.
