This blog has been an unexpected project that has really turned into something I love. I’ve been blogging for roughly a year. It looks like I started in June as per my archives, but I was using a different host for the first 6 months. The blog really blew up in August thanks to my hair tutorials. It seems people kind of like those. 😉

Because of the rapid growth, the opportunities that the Lord has allowed me, and the huge part that you play in spreading the word about my blog, I was able to turn this into a little business. My mind is full of ideas for this next year, and I hope you stick with me on this journey!

Thank you. So much. For your encouraging emails, comments, tweets, Facebook posts, etc. Each and every comment means so much to me.

I have been running ads on my blog for the past few months, and that has been a great way to help fund the time and materials (read: hair products, tools, camera, etc.) to make this blog what it is! And also provide me with a little extra.

I’m taking some of that extra and sponsoring a child through Compassion International. She’s 4 years old. Lives in the Philippines. She loves playing with dolls and singing.

So why am I telling you this? I’m definitely not trying to guilt you into doing anything with Compassion. But simply, to thank you. And to show you that your support has allowed me to do this! And to thank the Lord. Who very clearly provided an opportunity to use this blog for something greater.

I’m so grateful that it has become what it has, and I am truly so humbled to be able to continue on this journey!

Thank you for sharing this and for all of your great blogging! It is so encouraging to hear about God’s provisions in someone’s life, when it is sometimes hard to see it in one’s own. Thank you for your obedience to Him and His calling for your life! I pray our Heavenly Father uses you in a mighty way through this blog in 2012!

I love that you’re sponsoring a child through Compassion! My parents actually started sponsoring a little girl named Alana in South America (maybe Brazil??) around age 6. She’s 12 or 13 now! She sends them letters to update them on how she’s doing. They also send her Christmas and Birthday gifts (well they give an extra donation and a gift is purchased for her). They’ve been thinking about going down to visit and meet her! In short, I think what’s you’re doing in absolutely awesome! Love the blog! Keep up the great work!

Dear Kate! I am so glad this blog becomes much more, that you have opportunity to share your knowledge, style and spirit with other people! I also enjoy knowing that my learning how to style my hair helps you to help little girl. We also as a family sponsor kids in Africa.
I really hope I will read your blog for a long time!
You know, I have what they call good, great hair, but not until I found your blog I knew what to do with it! It only looked good when I went to hair stylist. No one before you made it easy for me! I enjoy my iron, my hair, my looks, I can not tell you how much! It is so easy now, and I just hardly wait to see my reflection in some mirror around the town, and to wash my hair and style it! And it used to be such a nightmare for me, it’s funny, but it was!
You are so special, thank you, and go on!

I will forever be grateful to you for your tip of the TWO polybands, how to trim your own bangs, and Kenra hairspray, oh, and my Hot Tools curling iron…thanks for teaching me how to curl my hair!! You really were a life, er, hairsaver. Praying you will have continued success. Bless you for thinking of others by way of sponsoring a child. What a blessing! Keep the great posts coming!

How sweet – making extra money and sponsoring a child! You brought tears to my eyes! I sponsor through Remember Nhu, an organization that builds children’s homes around the world to prevent them from being sold into the sex trade. I know the founders personally, and it’s such a blessing to be involved in that way!

I want to thank you SO VERY MUCH for your hair tutorials! I’ve actually done something with my hair other than blow dry it for the first time in years (okay, other than a few times curling it…). I have enough hair for three people, and it’s so hard to do anything with that I don’t even bother most of the time.

Since I found your blog, I have purchased large hair clips, bobby pins and hair spray, and they WORK — hallelujah! =D Thanks so much!

You are a VERY special lady (and sister in Christ)! Thanks!

Since then I’ve tried different methods on me and my daughter. Thank you for your inspiration! You have also inspired me to blog. I have been blogging for a little over a week as an accountability tool to keep me reading my bible and de-cluttering! I hope you have a beautiful year and your sponsored child blesses you the way you have blessed others!

Kate, I have thought of myself as hair challenged all my life. I have never been the type to get complemented on my hair for the way I style it (unless I have just left the salon). I found your blog a few weeks ago. I got a complement at the mall yesterday (I was wearing the messy bun (aka explosion) which I love-its probably my favorite) and I had a lady come up to me to say how pretty my hair was and to ask me what products I use in my hair. I have NEVER in my 26 years have had that happen to me. I believe it is all due to you. You have given me confidence in myself and my hair abilities-I just needed to be shown step by step. Thank you for this-you have really changed my life and given me more confidence.

Hi Kate – I got connected to your blog through Pinterest and let me tell you – your hair videos are awesome! I’ve also enjoyed reading your everyday stories. When I read this one about you sponsoring a child, I had to comment. I sponsor children through Compassion also and it’s so rewarding! To know that you have an impact on the life of this young child is so cool! I pray for them every day and look forward to meeting them some day in heaven. 🙂 Keep up the good work of spreading the love of Jesus!

Hi Kate- I just want to say that Im personally so inspired by your blog. I first came upon the site through pintrest and watched all your videos and felt like I could get out of this “hair slump” that I feel I have been in. Then I read your Bio and started to cry! I love how bold you are about your personal relationship with Christ! You have an amazing gift and thank you for sharing with all of us! I hope if Im ever in NC that I would get the chance to have coffee with you! Thanks again! Christine in Wyoming
