DIY Framed Art

Half French Braid Half Up
Every once in awhile I have the urge to spruce things up a bit around the house. Now that the holidays are over, I’m ready for a refreshed look! If my mom lived near me, I would just have her come over and do it for me. Because, well, she’s awesome at decorating. And I always love her home decor choices.

But thankfully my sister is nearby, and she also has the eye for home decor. So she helps me when I wrestle with decisions on what color flowers to buy, or how tall a vase should be. It doesn’t not come naturally to me, folks.

And to top it off, I don’t enjoy spending big bucks on small home decor pieces since I know I will change it eventually!

So here is an inexpensive way to add some color and a new touch to a room.

DIY Framed Art

What I used/you’ll need:
3 frames. I like white. and cheap.
These 10×13’s were $4.99 each at Michaels. (PLUS a 25% off frames coupon!)

3 fabric napkins. I bought mine at World Market. They were $3.99 each.

That’s all. This project set me back about $23.00.

I know. Cheap.

1. Empty your frames. You can keep the mat in there like it did, or remove it completely to show more of the napkin.

2. Iron out the fabric napkins.

3. I left a little bit of the crease showing so I could line up the back of my frame.

4. Tape down to secure.

5. Insert back in frame. This is what the back will look like.

6. Repeat with 2 other frames. And arrange the napkin so you will see different portions of the pattern in each frame.

The completed look!

{mini-chalkboard: World Market $6.99; vase + flowers: Michaels}

Minimal and inexpensive additions created a brand new look!

I love this idea! The napkin framing idea isn’t new to me, but the way you’ve shown different parts of the napkin in each pic is very clever and a new twist! Thanks for this!

I hadn’t thought about using fabric napkins! Good idea. You could also use scrapbook paper, magazine pages (free!), or print a digital scrapbook paper. 🙂 I love that it’s so easily interchangable!

Great! But for some reason I’m thinking if you flip the far right one upside down and put it in place of the 1st, and move the 1st as is to the far right it might give it some balance. Awesome idea nonetheless!

I needed to cspoome you one very small remark to be able to say thanks a lot again on the wonderful tricks you’ve featured in this case. It has been really strangely open-handed of people like you to make unhampered just what numerous people would’ve supplied as an electronic book to get some dough for themselves, most importantly considering the fact that you might well have done it if you wanted. These inspiring ideas also acted to become a great way to understand that some people have similar fervor similar to my very own to learn a whole lot more with regard to this issue. I am sure there are lots of more enjoyable periods in the future for folks who discover your blog.
