Apple Picking with Mom

next
My Haircut
On Labor Day, my mom and I made the trek to Wisconsin in order to pick some not yet ripe Cortand apples. See, when they are still a little green they have a nice tart bite to them! They are, by far, my favorite apple!
We went into the bakery first and we were immediately drawn in my the baked goods just waiting to be eaten. We bought a few caramel apples (the caramel was amazing), some apple dumplings, some apple cider doughnut holes, and some good ‘ol apple cider.
And we hadn’t even picked our apples yet!!

While waiting in line, we were watching the children send cans of food up to the lonely goat on Golden Goat Bridge.
Then we began our walk into the orchard. It was a windy, crisp fall day in Wisconsin! Perfect for apple picking!

Then we came to the first row of Cortlands!

Yum. Delicious fresh apples. We could pick and eat as many as we wanted!
I ate 3. I could of kept going but I had to stop myself.

There’s mom! (she’ll hate this photo because her mouth was filled with apple, but HEY–we were apple picking after all!)

Yay! So happy to biting into a Cortland!
Have I told you yet that I like Cortlands?

Action shot. Not staged.
Then mom broke the law and picked some apples that were not “ready” yet. Empires I think.

Here is our loot! Several pounds of apples! Half of these will come back to North Carolina with me!
If you get a chance, and live somewhere that there is apple picking, go. It’s really enjoyable, especially if you get to go with good company. 🙂

We have some cute farms around here, too. They are one of my favorite things about fall! (The picture of the bakery makes me want to visit one right this second!)

How fun! One of my most favorite parts of Fall in the midwest is going to the apple orchards and cider mills. If it stays cool this weekend, I’m hoping to do that this weekend 🙂
